At the end of the day, if Sansa told the truth would she still have to marry Joffrey? Yes. If ever I questioned Tyrion and tried to lump him in with his family, I remember the respect he shows The Night's Watch, and listened in consideration when Maester Aemon and Jeor Mormont plea with him. He doesn't have the same concern of even the same belief in the threat, yet shows enough reverence to take them seriously.

I became a book fan after the show and the scene in the show that has the guy asking Ned about changing clothes is different in the book. I know it's tribal and doesn't matter but almost every reactor says something about it. In the book, it is Ned who tells the guy he will be awhile because he wants to change into something more appropriate. Like I said it doesn't change the scene itself but it does add another variable to the perception of Ned's character that the show was creating.
