Yo Dd

yessirr

ShelleyAnn

Lol people in the old days believed the proteins and compounds in urine used to help heal wounds and infections. Its not recommended in today's age THANKFULLY 😂

ShelleyAnn

The conversations between Ragnar and King Egbert is some of the best writing in this show.

Yo Dd

the brother she poisoned didn't grape her btw , it was the older one who is already dead

Tiny_Dessy

ngl rewatching it with yall is so funny her poisoning him and then saying raise a glass was wild cuz im not drinking nothing with you around anymore 🤣

Urine is sterile...so technically, in those times, it's WAY better of a wound wash out than the water they would be using, if you think about it.

Harbard, the visitor to Kattegat, is definitely not an ordinary man. In the show, I think he's supposed to be like an embodiment of one of the gods - possibly Odin (who is the "all-father" to the vikings). I think he's giving people what he thinks they "need." So for Siggy, it's to save children like she couldn't save her daughter and to even go be with her daughter in the afterlife. for Aslaug, it's to appreciate and comfort her sickly boy Ivar and to show her love, companionship, attention. Also RIP Siggy. Great character and the way they portrayed her end is so layered and important. I think she had not really been at "rest" or content - even with Rollo - since her daughter had died.

Katie Davis

the urine scene is wild. But back then, they thought it was a way to sterilize the wound (definitely not - urine is not actually sterile & contains waste/bacteria). But it's what they thought in those days. Back before modern medicine.

Ciarah C

Now, urine is only used if you get stung by a jellyfish lol

Colin

Every rewatch of this show, every time Siggy is on screen, all I can think is "Poor Siggy, man" she didn't deserve to go out like that

meer.omerta

fun fact about Rollo but in real life his kids become the kings and queens of the England thru William the conquer which is who Robert Baratheon is based off of

Nae

Kwens a freak boiiiii💀💀

Well for like the first 2 minutes (give or take) after it leaves your body urine is drinkable even though it's got ammonia in it, which we do use to clean though urine is not the modern source...Do with that information what you will🤷🏿‍♀️ But with that knowledge, she was doing him a favor... Like, y'all do know what the earliest soaps, cleaning agents, and source of setting for dyes on fabrics were made of, right? Yep pee. It also could be used in the candle making process if I remember correctly, but don't quote me on the candles, I'm watching this past my bedtime and running on 4 hours of sleep🤣🤣🤣

Coco Walker

Really? A king whose bloodline never sees the throne past himself in GOT is based off of who they're swearing is the most important forefather for most of European royalty, next to Charlemagne? Interesting...

Coco Walker

Wait, I thought William predates this period in English history??? I thought he was after the Romans but before the unification of all the kingdoms of England which this basically helps be the catalyst of, several generations later of course, but still?

So, my theory on Kwin kissing Lagertha is this: it's probably indeed part post traumatic hypersexuality and being backed into a rough enough corner to peep exactly what Adison has already said this reaction: Ragnar loves and trusts Lagertha no matter who is in the picture and vice versa, so getting in good enough with her beyond any lingering jealousy she may have over him is or can be cited as an indicator for him as far as how close he keeps Kwin... I don't think it's registered how different Lagertha is. Yes a lot of the elements that make her a baddie are in theory elements that other women of their culture are free to aspire to, but certain things are unique to her such as her sitting as the Earl and not just holding court as one's wife, and the fact that in this show she's the only woman we've seen Ragnar entangled with that was with him before he made moves to elevate himself beyond being a simple farmer who happens to be viking and good with a sword... she is the only one that hasn't expected or needed him or any man to put on a cape and save her. Basically she's more of a kindred spirit to him than his friends or even Rollo. As a woman the things of their culture that should've confined her, don't... Just like in their culture it was laughable for him, a farmer to raise his station beyond obedient swordsman that raids upon command to King...He still did it and she has done what she's done...

Urine is definitely not sterile, lol. It contains bacteria from the bladder, urinary tract, and urethra - plus anything external it touches as it exits the body. That being said, you're right, they did thought it was good for wound care way back in the day. Thank the gods for modern medicine, lol.

So Queen Kwenthrith did not *want* to kill her younger brother. That was the whole reason she asked Ragnar to spare his life, initially. However, she was advised afterwards, several times, that her brother would be a complication, a problem, and her downfall. It was then that she had to make the decision to deal with that, or to deal with him... which is why she looked so remorseful and tried to hold his hand when she did that. But she did it for her own self-preservation and protection. That being said, I think a more... sane or empathetic person would have chosen their family over power / status, and would not have done that. It really speaks to her character and mental state.

Addison, you forgot to add tags to this post so it's hard to find. I thought it got deleted a couple weeks ago when I wanted to watch it but finally managed to find it.

Fellerz

I hope people know this is not true lol

Fellerz

People today in age still believe in the Urine on a jellyfish sting is true which it isn't lol

Katie Davis

wow that's wild! Yeah definitely not true
