Finally.

Another classic checked off my list! S/O to everyone (including those offline) who kept putting this film in my ear. This is another one of those films that I feel like everyone has seen but me. There is so much to discuss about this film that I don't even know if this one video can do it justice but for now I hope y'all enjoy my FIRST TIME REACTION to Boyz In the Hood! This is the uncut version which includes a few updates at the beginning and a post show chat at the end.

Awwwhhhh right on time while I’m working

Shawanda

This one was fun to see your reaction on. ♥️

Kareemah

YES. I missed the ending live because my phone died trying watch this during my power outage. Can't wait for the after watch commentary if there was one.

Kiana B.

this set up is niceeee ouu

April

Let’s Go! RIP JOHN SINGLETON!

Akili-Ka

Thanks, Adison. This is a classic. And “Snowfall” is next. Right? By the way, I ain’t no African boody scratcher 😂😂😂

Kiana B.

well, the teacher was being hella micro aggressive in this specific situation in the movie...maybe you didn't catch that idk.

Bianca Eze

I’m still tryna figure out why discord kicked me out when speaking, lol but, in Adison’s words, I got Ricky’d! 🥺

Opa Loki

The teacher was being racist. I understand not everyone can identify microaggresions but her asking his mother if she were employed was a racial insinuation and even her commentary when she said he’s moving with his father. The mom responded well, all that, considering.

SimplySteph215

Brotha Ad! You don’t know who Kunta Kinte is?? 😱🤦🏽‍♀️🫠 Lawd we gotta do a Roots watch sir! …side note, totally different but Set It Off and Higher Learning?

dlite357

The 🎷 saxophone 😂

everydaynegroes

She was, my bad I didn’t mean to seem like I was defending this particular situation because that teacher was dead wrong. -Adison

everydaynegroes

Yes! I did a post show chat with the fam at the end! -Adison

Kareemah

The way that I was yelling nooooooo at my phone as it powered of. I was watching while using my phone's flashlight to cook. I have to figure out how to fit a generator in my already tight budget, because I can't be missing lives with the EDN family. No sir. That was a rough 36 hours.

Kareemah

I stay keeping people up on what's happening with the group situation. We have your back.

Jeremiah Cleveland

You sound like officer tatum not a good look when talking about black issues and culture

Kareemah

I'm still laughing that the movie started with F bombs out the gate after the no cursing rule.

Kiana B.

np! thanks for understanding and being receptive, ultimately i know you don't mean any harm. 🫶🏽

Kareemah

Since I missed the live after the movie, this is what I wanted to say had my phone not have died. I really hate the term Black on Black Crime. It was a term coined in the 80's I believe by President Regan. It is only used with Black Americans. A crime victim often looks like his/her perpetrator. In every other Ethnic group it's just called a crime.

Kareemah

I'm guessing that Adi hasn't seen What's Love Got To Do With It? Mentioning all of those movies before his most recognizable role.

ReRe Robinson

Not so fun fact: but in real life when the guy in the wheelchair was a kid a family friend/male family member picked him up and used him as a human shield in a drive by shooting and that’s why he’s so good in the chair because he’s been in it his whole life.

shemeka_blackscorpion

Hooowwwww is this your first time watching 1989 Boyz N The Hood lol so I'm guessing you haven't watched "in too deep" "juice" "new jersey drive" "menace to society"... theres a lot of good hood movies you probably haven't watched

Joh Wat

We need snowfall instead of power

Mr Corleone

Addison, if you ever pop out here to California, specifically LA, do your research, cause you CAN NOT just go anywhere and wear any color. Simple, .. but important to know

Femme Fatale

Adison, y'all are gonna fall asleep in those chairs. The new studio looks awesome. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Jonathan Blaze

Congratulations, you get to keep your black card. Even though you didn't mention this was Ike and Tina together in this movie.

mzlala87

This was John Singletons first movie!

Carlo

Let’s Gooooo!

decarlton huston

Well it’s time for the Wire and snowfall solidify your black card

Andrew Jones

Nuffinnbutthetide

Rocinate

Incredible film. That boy Cuba can act his backside off!! Appreciate your reaction/ perspective on this one!

Koko_Rootz

Answer to ur first question. Because theres always 2 sides to a story.

Koko_Rootz

Sing it Addison….”00h chiild” 🎶🎶

Sshh9

Menace 11 society Gots too ‼️

Koko_Rootz

In the streets, this is the only life they know. Itʻs not until the cycle changes where change can happen.

Koko_Rootz

Its so much easier said than done. Especially if you were never raised in that life. This is a product of capitalism

Wolfy! Wolfi! Wolfé!

Such an amazing movie, thank you for sharing your experience with us. I feel so sad for anyone that had to grow up in this kinda violence 😔

Samuel Daley

He brought himself tho. He told them to meet him in 5 minutes. His mind was already made up.

Twee-G

My face when he said he didn’t know who that was 😧 bless his heart.

Twee-G

I enjoyed this reaction along with the jokes 😆👏 Now watch Menace II Society or Dead Presidents followed by Love Jones, just to see the polar opposite of Larenz Tate acting range. Fun Fact: The Hughes Brothers who directed Book of Eli with Denzel also directed and wrote Menace II Society and Dead Presidents.

M Salam

They like 17-18 so yeah 27 is old as hell to them lol.

Jaydah

Your amazing!! Please start streaming I would def support u

Omar Reeves

The solos be sometimes better cuz yall get distracted and be talking the whole time 😂😂

Omar Reeves

If we being honest. I got mad at Ricky for like 25 yrs but he legit took like 3 steps b4 being shot, he really ain’t have a chance to cut

Marisa Pardo

Tre: “RICKYYYYY!!!” 😱😱 Ricky gets shot. Me: ***ugly crying*** (no words)

Timothy Payton

The Lord needs to save Crenshaw comment had me crying laughing the way you said it lol

LaughingGemini

please watch BELOVED. it's a great movie. scared me so much as a kid!

Beast

Dang that was heartbreaking

Jaydah

Great reaction

vanessa

riccckkkkyyyyy😫😂

@Tom Godson

Calling that women Crackisha is kinda wild 😂😅

Lorena_Trigcity

Adisoooooon, Kunta Kinte before you do anything else… 🙏🏽

Lorena_Trigcity

No one, ever, in history, has likened Ricky to Rickon 😭😭😭

Patrick Watts

5 minutes into the movie the look of pure shock on Adison's face is worth the price of subscription alone lol. You're in for a rough road my friend. Especially if you haven't seen Menace 2 Society, New Jack City, State Property, Baby Boy, etc. This list could go forever. That being said I'd love to see your reaction to Straight Outta Compton too. Especially if its your first time

Rosedawson87

A cultural moment. I don't like people using the saxophone music. They don't understand the significance.

Rosedawson87

Please watch Tales from the Hood for October

Glyn

Broo im crying at “no no no i thought we were having a good time” 😭😭😭😭😭😭

KennethLu

This is a great watch now we need to do Don’t be a menace 2, and Juice before watching the Wayne brother parody version of these movie I think Osafa mention it in one of the breaking bad episodes Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood boy that a mouthful release in 1996 I think it’ll be a great group reaction if they do it.

Kristien

@adison she was angry with the teacher, because the teach talked down to her very disrespectful. Teachers do this to black mothers all the time, assuming that all black mothers are not educated or have no jobs, and are single mothers so that’s why it’s not necessarily about what the child has done is what the teacher is saying about his or her mouth.

Kristien

It’s called discipline you saw he was just got in trouble in school. Why would he have a welcoming party? He’s supposed to rake the front yard. It’s called discipline

Kristien

This movie is based on a true story

Kristien

@adison the same thing is happening today with gun violence in Memphis today!!!!

Kristien

The suburbs have full of domestic violence and family annihilators, it’s either one or the other. Someone is dying of gun violence in both the hood and in the suburbs!!!!

Kristien

No football player can run from a bullet if the person have good aim what they should do is get down and that was Ricky‘s mistake. All he knew was to run. He didn’t know to get down!!

Kristien

This movie came out 30 years ago and the same thing is still happening in 2026

Kristien

This movie is a good example of systemic racism!!!

Kristien

The Boys and girls club is not profit and funded by the each state!!!
