I would call this a chick-flick but this is a series sooooooo...lol either way I'm excited to check this out because just like Power a lot of people have recommended this one.

Slowly but surely I'm starting to gravitate towards a few characters but we will see how this goes.

Omg was not expecting this to be a solo series but I’m still excitedddd!! In case no one told you this show currently has 4 seasons out AND there is a spin off show called Queen Charlotte that DOES correlate to the Bridgerton storyline. If you watch in release order it goes Bridgerton s1, s2, Queen Charlotte, s3, and then s4. Hope you enjoy the series!

To really enjoy the content of the show you have to take women’s place in modern society out of your head, their place was to marry and every man around women were in control including sons over their mother. You will enjoy the nuance so much more

Adi I know you’re nervous cause of the chic flick aspect but there are quite a few discussions to be had as you go on. By end of season I need a comparison on ending thoughts lol. Also, the cast is purposefully blind casted. Race is a topic at points but it’s purposefully not an all white cast. We know who Lady Whisltedown is… Will Adi figure it out????? 😂🤞🏾🤞🏾

I'm so sad I was late to the live reaction on discord lol I literally got on in the last two minutes. But I'm glad you're giving Bridgerton a shot. From what I've seen so far from other male reactors, they always get reeled in at some point and I think watching men react to Bridgerton is my new favorite type of reactions to watch 😂 I'm sure it probably has to do with scheduling, but I think it would be hilarious to see you and the guys react to it together! But you watching solo is good enough too 😌 Also keep in mind that during this time not only were women of high society limited on what they were allowed to do but they're purpose of marrying is supposed to be all about status which is why Nigel (the creepy dude) is desperate to marry Daphne. Not only does she come from a well respected family, the Queen named her the social seasons Diamond which in modern terms would mean that she's the top model of her class and because the Queen has said so, it's something eligible bachelors would see as a prize to be won. Now for Anthony (the oldest brother) because he's the head of the family he does technically hold all the power amongst his mother and siblings. So technically he does need to "run" the show which is what his mother calls him out on. He is a little disrespectful when he talks to his mother sometimes, but back then it's not exactly like women (including mothers) were owed any respect especially from a male relative who outranks them. Now Anthony isn't a villain in any way but just think of it like Joffrey outranking Cersei once he became King. The representation of POC amongst the high society members isn't something in the Bridgerton books but it was a decision the producers made to represent how in some places in Europe back in those days, even though it was still rare, there were POC amongst high society. But also because the real Queen Charlotte was said to be of African descent through one of her ancestors so they saw it as an opportunity to make the entire show more inclusive altogether.

I know this isn't something you would normally watch on your own, if given the choice, and I feel that. I've always disliked "chic flicks" and things like reality TV / dramas, etc. I've always really enjoyed things like adventure, sci-fi, fantasy type shows. For example, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, and Wheel of Time are in my wheelhouse. I *never* expected to enjoy this show. But this show has been my guilty pleasure, lol. I really enjoy it. Season one is okay, but it really picks up in season 2 and 3. I hope you stick with it. You may end up actually enjoying it! :)

Probably an unpopular opinion but season 1 is the worst season of all 4 so far. Daphne is so annoying. Every sibling she has is more interesting than her. The red heads across the street are way more interesting. She looks 14;
