I had an unexpected guest stop by the day we were recording so I decided why not check out the 2nd platform movie since I watched the first one with this particular group. Hope y'all enjoy the raw reaction to The Platform 2.

This movie was less about the plot and more about the social commentary. It's demonstrating why "equality" is not the end-all answer people think it is. Everyone got to pick their favorite meal to come in with and everyone had something to eat, but then people got greedy and wanted more. Even when people die and their meal becomes "available," someone eating their meal causes them to have more than the next person which is not equal. But some people need MORE than others, such as the big guy who may need more than the skinny girl, and that's why equity over equality is a huge theme here. Everyone doesn't need the same thing or an equal number of things for sustainment. The movie is more broadly about Capitalism and the Imperialist systems of modern-day society.

The significance of the kids trying to go up the slide, and how in the end it just looked like a pyramid dog pile, is to visualize the ways in which the behavior in the pit starts with how we raise children to treat society as a rat race to the top, despite how it creates cycles that will inevitably leave people back at the bottom. The "winner" of the playground allegory is granted access to the pit, which is "society" here, but they're put so far at the bottom because that's how society treats children. They get so wrapped up with fighting for themselves within the pit that all the food or "benefits" meant to trickle down, never reaches the lowest level, and the child ultimately gets neglected. This movie is a prequel, which is why the child becomes the message meant to provoke change by the end of movie 1. "Message to who though," to the top of society that is essentially seen as responsible for distribution. The ending, to me, symbolizes how our society's "revolutionaries" fight and die to get these messages heard, only for them to be ignored while the cycle continues. In movie one they were so confused about why children would be there, because we all collectively recognize that society is too vicious for children. Yet, we never seem to consider them when we create these systems.

K tbh this seems like one of those weird social commentary movies. Not into these. Why the plot goes nowhere. They did fan service by bringing the first actor back so that's cool I guess πŸ˜‚. I don't get the end makes me feel like I wasted 2 hours. Seems like a social or political commentary about rich vs poor or starving people idk man

This is no different than any other thought game. I just felt like this film is just a message and that's cool but it doesn't make sense.
