Okay, so here it is, the official poll I've been muttering about for a while.

To explain this a little bit more in-depth, I am going to be graduating from university in a matter of weeks. I have a choice on the table in front of me. Do I dive into the games industry and try to find a job? This will be time consuming and ultimately take me away from this project for some time. Or do I try to make this my full time job and spend my days this summer working on it exclusively?

Here is how either change will effect you and this Patreon:

Monthly Payments

  • Pledges will be processed on the 1st of each month instead of when I release updates.
  • Updates will happen every other week.
  • Only people pledging at or above $5 will get access to these.
  • Large-scale cumulative updates like what I am currently doing will remain free.

No Change

  • This Patreon will remain the same.
  • Weekly updates and work on the project will cease until I have a job.
  • Even after I have a job, these updates will possibly come out even less often than they do now, especially if it's full time.

I now leave the question to you, dear patron, which of these options would you prefer? I will take stock of your responses in one week's time, and will act accordingly then. I hope to hear from you!

No matter which decision is made, make sure you have a back up plan! The last thing we want to see is ‘guys I won’t be updating for a while because I’m homeless and living on the streets and making a spanking game is a little awkward at a public library’ :)

The problem with making this your full-time job, is that if you're eventually unable to support yourself with patreon anymore, you probably can't really put "worked on a Spanking Game for 3 years" as work experience when you're applying for your next job..

I thinking of this summer as a trial run of the idea. If I can't support the scheme at the end of that time, we'll go back to the original setup and I'll call it a post-graduation sabbatical. Also, despite this being my full time job, I still planned on making normal games on the side and a finished one of those is really good for getting hired into the industry.

Plan B is if at the end of the summer, I can't actually make this work, I'll get a part time thing in IT and continue on my off hours while making normal games on the side. Once I have a few normal games done, I'll use them as my resume to get hired with a game company and work it out from there!

As much as I want to see this finished, you should focus on your future.

Would the tiers remain the same? What I mean is are you, say, committing each month to add all the content from all the tiers (random encounters, quest chains, characters, etc.)?

godspeak

Probably not, considering that amount of work might paralyze the project, but I want to see how I work when there's nothing else to distract me. I might be able to make it work. I think I would need to adjust the amount of slots available if I did that though. for now, let's just say that I can do one thing for each person from each tier.
