How do you find the discord

Cynthia McKinney

My dad is like JT’s mom. He is 100% unwilling to listen and everything I say makes him irrationally angry, even if it’s not about politics. If he knew my real ideology, I’m sure we’d never speak again. Thanks for the episode, guys. Always a good reminder to keep things down to earth, and also that you can’t “save” everyone.

I think this was one of the most useful episodes, it has given me a new insight into how to deal with others. Recently I have had a lot of roadblocks with friends and family as many are just not willing to listen to something contrary to their beliefs. I think this will definitely help me have conversations in the future. Thanks a heap!

A big help is to also show people you are fighting for them. Work with unions, do volunteer work. Show the people you are someone that can be trusted

If you need a podcast to convince "apolitical" stemlords that engineering actually is a political field, I would consider Well There's Your Problem over on YouTube. Their episode on Bhopal in particular was a turning point for me.

The first step in my Deprogramming was when I visited a medical clinic for a minor injury. The physician attending to me mentioned something about China’s ascendency when making small talk. He didn’t push a point, just shared observations, and eventually said “liberal democracy has only been around for a few hundred years; it could very well be that it isn’t the final or best way to organize a society”. The lightest touch, but when I think back this was the first moment I remember the curtain being pulled back.

If you guys are searching for a news focused channel with great audibooks I can only recommend s4a/Socialism4All. Really love his content, even though it's depressing most of the time

I really appreciate this episode. I had asked a question related to these approaches. I guess it's not really something that can be explained in specific terms. But it's helpful to know I'm not the only one experiencing difficulties. And I'm trying to research more. Wage slave jobs make it hard, but hey, one step at a time.
