Going Forward in 2025 (News and Update) (Patreon)

Hello everybody!

I hope the new year has treated you well so far. This has been a month where I have been taking inventory as you will and looking back at the work I have done since I changed gears in terms of the rewards system. It has been an enormous success both for me, and I do hope for all of you as well!

But with that I am also always critical of my own work. I look at trends, listen to those giving feedback as well as scrutinizing my methods. As good as things have been there needs to be a change and changes need to be implemented.

As such, starting in February, there is going to be a change in the rewards. They are going to be slightly different going forward. These changes are to ensure that I am able to managed myself and my time better as well as deliver better and higher quality stuff to you as well as whole new goodies. This is far from throwing in the towel. Quite the opposite in fact.

Basically, I have been unsatisfied with the quality of requests I have been producing. There is also a demand for certain kinds of rewards I have until this point not supplied. According to private messages, feedback and exit surveys, there is a large demand for more exclusive work. I can completely understand this since most of what I have been producing has been posted publicly due to the nature of the rewards since they are based on patron requests and early access. While that will stay the same for the most part, I am going to start including exclusive works that will only be available here on Patreon.

The biggest change is going to be requests however. This month, basic and advanced together (now called Hope's Cauldron and Pandora's Cauldron), I have 20 requests for January on the dot. Those will be completed. Starting on February it will be the same: I will post signboards that will have links to google forms as before for you to make a request. However, instead of doing 20 request a month, since that is causing me to burn out and not produce work of a quality I am satisfied with, I will be doing 1 Basic Request and 1 Advanced Request every week, posted on a Monday at 17:00 GMT. These requests will be fully colored and shaded with proper linework rather than just a greyscale sketch as previous. Once the queue is complete, instead of requests being posted on Monday, a new signboard will be posted for new requests.

I know that this will mean that requests will take longer to complete, but they will be of a far better quality. Here's the truth and me bearing a bit of my soul. The digital landscape, especially for art, is changing rapidly due to developments around AI and LLMs, and as a creative, I can't help but feel anxious about it, regardless how I logic it. I have been unconsciously competing with them like John Henry against the steam-powered rock drill. So I focused on quantity instead of quality.But I have realized something. I am a corner bistro competing with McDonald's. I should be making a Sunday Brunch Premium Cheese Burger rather than a mountain of wax-wrapped sandwiches. Focusing on quantity will only destroy me. It is both wrong and stupid of me to be playing the quantity game. Which is why I want to now focus on making high quality requests instead. It will serve the time I have to draw better, and though the turn around is slower, it will ensure the work I draw will be beautiful and worthy of all your patronage.

I am so sorry to dump all of this on you, and I do apologize that so many of you have joined recently only for me to change how rewards work. But that is where the bad news ends. Now for the good news:I am going to including rewards that are exclusively only here. This includes exclusive pieces of art every Monday, as well as the ability to vote on what you would like to see drawn next and for my biggest patrons, I will be giving you access to the PSD/CLIP files of the drawing themselves.

Rewards will be posted every Monday at 17:00 GMT, first starting on the 3rd of Febuary 2025
