this setup is now moved to the ApolloLander shroud (shop page)---------

Phaetus is soon to release the TaiChi hotend, a dual color one, and this popped in my mind, Dual Direct drive with two orbiter extruder 2.0 (since it's smaller, but could probably work with orbiter extruder 1.5 or dual sherpa mini )I don't know how doable it would be in reality, but fun to think about. This beast would probably weigh 500~550g ( 300g of it being the extruders ), so the SaturnOrbiter would be a perfect candidate for it, thanks to its rigidity.I don't have any of this hardware so only a concept for now, would need two identical extruder (preferably orbiter 2.0 ) and a TaiChi hotend. Someday maybe...edit: this eventually did happen and is totally viable! when I have the dual color hotend installed that is my setup (supported on SaturnOrbiter and TitanOrbiter)Edit: Taichi STEP files

Hello, How can I operate a double extrusion on an Ender 3 Pro and the Taichi Phaetus?

You would need an 5th stepper driver, so not possible with stock motherboard alone ( you can through ugly modding but not easy ). With klipper you can run multiple board at the same time so you could add a second board which is a bit cumbersome ( cheapest one would be the SKR pico, only 4 drivers but that would give you a total of 8 drivers, or another creality 4.2.7 but I would recommend a board with UART stepper drivers so you can control current from the klipper configuration) Or find one with 5 or more stepper drivers like Big tree tech SKR 2 or 3 ( not mini those only have 4 stepper drivers ) or Octopus, or Manta MP5 or MP8. Or similar offering from other manufacturers ( mellow, fystec, makerbase ) but you would would have to install a new board mount, I'm slowly working on one ( but there are existing projects that I can link you to ) I personally had a E3 RRF ( that I got on an early bird sale, but I don't recommend it at current price), and now I use an octopus v1.1 on the ender3v2 ( broke it very stupidly. But have a octopus pro on the way now, there are sometimes good deals on Aliexpress) Don't hesitate if you want more input on selecting an aftermarket board.

Also would go with linear rail on X and ApolloLander shroud rather than the Saturn for added rigidity, as it's still quite a bit of weight on the gantry. But i have a patron that just finished his taichi setup and working great ( he posted pictures on my discord server )

thank you for your response always constructive. Some methods are a bit complicated for me, but I see more clearly.
