CREATURES of the NIGHT 2026 card #6. Belasco! (Patreon)

BELASCO may seem like an unlikely villain for me to focus on in my X-Men "Lost in Limbo" and "Escape from Limbo" parody comics, but consider this: the first X-Men comic I ever purchased as a kid was Uncanny X-Men # 160, and that's where I met BELASCO for the first time. In my own very personal X-Men mythology/universe, he's even more important than villains like Magneto, Arcade, or even the Brotherhood of evil mutants, for example. And so, bearing that in mind, there really was no question. There was no other villain I wanted to pit my version of the X-Men against.

For this reason, BELASCO takes card #6 of the Creatures of the Night 2026 Digital Trading Cards edition because he is, like it or not, very important to me and my own understanding of the X-Men.

Additionally, I've always been a horror guy, and BELASCO being a demon from essentially a hell dimension seems to align really nicely with my own mythology and my need to always slide a little darkness into my work. Sure. I could have had CYCLOPS, STORM and their pals fight the Sentinels, and that would have been exciting, but it wouldn't have been that same kind of lascivious, deliciously filthy encounter that they had with BELASCO and his demons. LOL!

He's a deep cut in the X-Universe, it's true. But he's a deep cut which I feel helped to make my parody take on the X-Men something that we haven't seen before, and that other artists who have created with the parody X-Men adult comics have not yet done. Hey, even when I'm working on characters that belong to someone else, I strive to be as original as I can! HA HA HA! XD
