CREATURES of the NIGHT 2026 card #8. Evilcrawler! (Patreon)

It's time for our final Creatures of the Night 2026 card! CARD #8, is finally here.

This one focuses on EVILCRAWLER, who, along with BELASCO, was one of the very first Marvel Comics "villains" I was introduced to when I bought Uncanny X-Men # 160 back when I was a kid. Of course, NIGHTCRAWLER is a hero with an exceptionally pure heart, but EVILCRAWLER was his alternate self, the one that was corrupted by Belasco and his demons.

I guess I was just a very impressionable youth when I got my hands on that very first comic book. But something in me changed that day, and I realized two things: I was drawn to the darker side of things in terms of themes and subject matter in stories, and I was going to be an artist who would write and draw comics.

My mother tried for years to break me of the habit of reading comic books. Clearly that never worked. LOL! She quickly finally realized this was a battle she could never win, and finally understood how important comics were to me. Now, of course, she's happy that my love of the genre has endured, but at the time, she was convinced that these colorful little booklets were rotting my poor, fragile little mind. HA HA HA!

While I don't think comics rotted my mind, I certainly do think they opened it at just the right time in my life!

I discovered a deeply inspiring world that was limitless in terms of imagination, and it propelled me into becoming the person that I am today, and I'm very proud of that. As far as EVILCRAWLER is concerned, he had to come back for my take on the X-Men, simply because he was foundational ro who I would become.

And if nothing else, EVILCRAWLER does a fabulous job of tormenting the delicious SCOTT SUMMERS, as we can clearly see here. LOL! XD
