Dear Kyiv Independent community members,

Our War Crimes Investigations Unit is getting ready to release its next documentary, “Destroy, in whole or in part,” which takes a close look at whether Russian war crimes in Ukraine amount to genocide or not.

Before the release next week, we are holding an online screening of “Destroy, in whole or in part” exclusive for our community members. The film’s run time is one hour and the screening will be followed by a Q&A with the head of the War Crimes Investigations Unit Yevheniia Motorevska and one of the unit’s reporters, and author of the documentary, Danylo Mokryk.

“Destroy, in whole or in part” also aims to examine genocidal intent in the actions of the Russian military and officials, as well as in Russian state propaganda.

The documentary features several exclusive interviews with victims of Russian war crimes, including with survivors of atrocities in Bucha and Kherson. The legal and scientific expertise is provided by some of the most renowned scholars in the field of genocide, including William Schabas, Eugene Finkel, and Dmytro Koval.

The documentary also looks at the original vision of Raphael Lemkin, the creator of the term “genocide,” contextualizing Russian genocidal intent both within Ukrainian history and the present moment.

Register for the Q&A and submit your questions here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_NFRXtTxgSnSkUZqIsC_OQw

After registering, you will immediately receive the meeting information and will automatically be sent a one-hour reminder.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, March. 21, at 7 p.m. Kyiv time (1 p.m. EDT).

Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you there.
