Dear Kyiv Independent community members,
We’re getting ready to present our documentary “Can You Hear Me? The Invisible Battles of Ukrainian Military Medics.” The film follows a group of Ukrainian military medics as they journey from the heat of battle in war-torn Ukraine to the serene forests of Sweden for a short mental health retreat.
Although the issue of medics’ psychological well-being is critical to address, it is rarely talked about and often overlooked, leaving them alone in this invisible battle.
As they find themselves in a peaceful, quiet environment in Sweden for the first time since 2022, the medics have a chance to process the accumulated trauma, opening up about losing brothers-in-arms, surviving Russian captivity, and the inescapable feeling of guilt for not being able to save some of the soldiers they treated.
Before the film’s premiere, we will have an exclusive online screening for The Kyiv Independent’s community members, followed by a Q&A with the film’s authors Francis Farrell and Olena Zashko.
Register for the Q&A and submit your questions here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_OJojlGdCRy-cAnfQ2rbbjg
