I am ashamed to say I am from the USA, but there may be light at the end of the tunnel. I'm from Washington, D.C. I will send you an email with my take on Trump's attempt to subjugate Ukraine to his Russia. Thank you

Claudia Hall Christian

I just sent mine in. Thanks for a chance to comment on the idiocy. I'm sure you have no idea of this -- but most Americans support Ukraine and are horrified about what's happening. Now, we just have to get them to vote.

Ceil Tilney

Thank you for the opportunity - submission sent, but the shame persists.

John Wilhelm

I am in New England, USA. What is being done disturbs me so much it is difficult to hear it. I am sorry. Hopefully the EU will have your back while we in the US are stabbing it.

Jaime Jacobs

I just submitted mine. Слава Україні!

I live in Southern California and work at Caltech. I disavow the actions of my government since Trump came to power. Our country has become a fascist dictatorship and we are fighting it. We cannot let the world’s oldest constitutional democracy fall forever. Please know that the People of America are with you now and forever.

Bob Knott

I support the Democratic Left in the US from Kamala Harris to AOC. We must refine our postions and rhetoric to clarify how ghastly the policies and lies of the MAGA Trump herd are. Trump betrays our historic constitutional democracy and engaged internationalism. Zelensky and his Ukrainian majority have been magnificent fighters for Europe and human dignity. We will work to defeat Trump, Putin and other expansionist dictatorships. Slava Ukraini!

Jeffrey Plotkin

I think it’s obscene for Trump to negotiate with Russia without involving Ukraine. What happens if you reach an “agreement”? Are you then going to ask for Ukraine’s approval, or try to force it on them by threatening to cut off their military aid? After they’ve fought valiantly to defend their country it’s wrong to do this. And make no mistake: the idea that Trump is a good negotiator is a total fiction. Putin will eat his lunch.

Santiago

Do you take American expats living elsewhere? (Argentina)

Sheila Grotzky

SheilaG There are no talks when you do not include those who have thebiggest interest in the decisions reached. That is obscene. The only ones being asked to make concessions are the Ukrainian people. Donald Trump expects to profit from any decisions made. That is a given. He does nothing unless he personally profits. Do not agree to any deal with him because as those living in the US know, he will lie, cheat and steal until his last day on earth. Do not trust him. President Zelensky please do not trust him even if he makes a public promise. He is no better than Putin. The people of the US support Ukraine, with the possible exception of the Magas who watch Fox news. Those minerals belong to the Ukrainian people, not to the US I live in Colorado

I sent my response last night but see my email was returned to me, not deliverable. I’m sorry!

Fran

I sent in my reply. I really appreciate this opportunity.

Still with Ukraine and hoping for a miracle to change the mindset of Washington. Like many other responses I feel a sense of shame regarding our government’s treatment of your country

I'm not American, but I have been wondering the same thing: how are average Americans reacting to all of this? To me this behaviour strays very far from the Christian values the nation was built upon. When I heard Trump speak yesterday, saying that the American taxpayer will "get their money back plus", I was taken aback. Isn't the point of helping that you don't expect a return on your investment? Frankly these developments - if they are indeed accepted by the majority of the American people - don't just make me concerned for Ukraine but for the soul of the US itself.

Sorry to see this so late. Happy to participate in future story needs.

Here in the US region of New England, support for Ukraine remains strong, both among politicians and at the citizen level. Lots of Ukrainian flags still flying locally where I live. Reaction to Friday’s disastrous diplomatic events were shock and horror on multiple levels. There was an emergency rally on Saturday in Boston There’s a TickTok video just posted today of hundreds of pro-Ukrainian Americans on the snowy roadside protesting J.D. Vance as he travelled for a 4-day ski vacation at Sugarbush in Vermont after his oval-office Mob-boss whack job against Zelensky. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut has done a great job pointing out the current administration’s mendacity and vile hostility towards democratic Ukraine on the news outlets. There’s a lot of social media and electronic chatter about writing our elected officials, donating to Ukrainian organizations, etc. People are angry and want to do something to support our allies, not dictators.

Beyond disgusted with arrogance and incompetence displayed by agent Krasnov and Vance. The majority of the US support Ukraine according to opinion polls tho' it varies somewhat by party identification. Presumably agent Krasnov and Vance think there will be something in it for them: Nobel peace prize (no way), or deals with Putin (no one in their sane mind would invest in Russia), or trying to prevent Russia and China becoming a united axis (no chance of that, they are too suspicious of each other). Its betrayal, lies and disaster, all fed by the ignorant right wing blog/pod sphere. So I call my entire congressional delegation 3x a week to protest. And I donate the United 24, Kyiv independent, and other ukrainian entities to support the Ukrainian military. And hate MAGA.

I am coming VERY late to this, but I would like to reenforce what others have been saying. I am not MAGA but work with a lot of MAGA types and even they thing the way the US is handling this is not right - especially the huge disrespect for the Ukrainian President and the fawning over Putin. "He is making us a vassal of Russia and that's not right" is something I overheard with some of the more concervatives. I think some of the project 2025 nihilists in the Administration are pushing for this. And once it dawns on Trump that this path will not get him any prizes, accolades and sink his popularity (whcih is declining rapidly) he will change his tune ... I hope
