Update on our fundraiser for Ukrainian veterans: With your help, we raised $24,500 (Patreon)

Dear Kyiv Independent community members,
Thank you for your continued support. We’re here to give you an update on our fundraiser for Veteran Hub, a Ukrainian charity founded in 2018 that helps soldiers and their families transition back to civilian life.
For the month of March, we decided to donate the profits from our “I Stand with Ukraine” T-shirt to Veteran Hub’s mental support program. Now that our fundraiser is closed, we wanted to let you know that together, with your help, we were able to raise $24,500 for Veteran Hub’s mental support program.
When we announced our fundraiser at the beginning of March, we aimed to raise $10,000. It’s thanks to our readers and members like you that we were able to more than double that amount.
Altogether, we sold over 1,400 shirts and received an additional 10 donations from our members for a total of $24,500, making it the largest donation the Kyiv Independent has made so far. The donation is particularly important now, as Veteran Hub lost two-thirds of its funding in January due to the Trump administration’s foreign aid freeze.
Veteran Hub helps soldiers with everything from mental health support to job placements and legal aid, as well as supporting those who have lost their loved ones while they served. The money we raised will go towards Veteran Hub’s mental support program, which provides psychological services — both individual consultation sessions and access to support groups — for soldiers and their families, as well as the families of fallen and captured soldiers.
We want to say thank you for your generosity and for your decision to stand with Ukraine. Your support does make a difference, and we’re grateful that you’re a part of our community.
We’d also like to thank those who have sent in photos in their “I Stand with Ukraine” shirts. If you’ve purchased a T-shirt and would like to be featured on our social media, please send your pictures to community@kyivindependent.com.
Thank you again for your support for the Kyiv Independent and Ukraine.
