Dear Kyiv Independent members,

Thank you to everyone who was able to join our Q&A “Is Europe ready for war?”on Monday. In short, as it stands, Europe is not ready for war. However, a lot could change in the coming months and years.

Deputy chief editor Oleksiy Sorokin and senior news editor Martin Fornusek answered your questions about the ability and willingness of Europe to provide intelligence, weapons — including air defense — and troops to help Ukraine defend against further Russian aggression.

They also discussed the unity of the EU and NATO, and Russia’s ability to sustain its war.

We’d also like to thank those who sent in their questions — your questions are always the foundation of our discussions. Thank you for taking the time to write in.

Is Europe ready for war? Q&A with Oleksiy Sorokin and Martin Fornusek

As the world order is upended and Russia continues to make advances on the front line, we want to answer your questions about what this means for Europe — and if the continent will be able to support Ukraine and itself adequately, without help from the U.S. Join us on Monday, April 28, as Oleksiy and Martin will answer your questions about the changing political alliances, what the Trump administration means for NATO, Russia’s “ceasefire” agreements, and if Europe is prepared for war. We’re looking forward to answering your questions.
