Dear Kyiv Independent community members,

Our War Crimes Investigations Unit is getting ready to release “No God But Theirs,” its latest documentary uncovering how Russia targets Ukrainian Christian churches in occupied territories — and exposing Kremlin propaganda that casts Russian President Vladimir Putin as a defender of Christianity.

Before the film premieres in Kyiv, we will have an exclusive online screening for our community members, followed by a Q&A with the film’s author, Danylo Mokryk of the War Crimes Investigations Unit.

“No God But Theirs” looks at Russia's religious repression in Melitopol following the city’s occupation after the start of the full-scale invasion. Priests and pastors were subjected to searches, taken for interrogation, and later, saw their churches banned and buildings seized. Several clergymen were officially deported or driven out by threats, as Russian propaganda alleged weapons and ammunition had been found in their possession. Many believers were forced underground to continue practicing their faith.

The film features interviews with religious leaders from Melitopol who were persecuted by the Russian occupation authorities, and names officials responsible for the campaign of repression against them.

Register for the Q&A and submit your questions here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_hYIbURnJR6anlLXJM0v7Bw

After registering, you will immediately receive the meeting information and will be sent a reminder one hour before the start of the event.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, at 7 p.m. Kyiv time (12 p.m. EDT).

Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you there.
