Explaining Ukraine: Q&A about Ukrainian culture with Kate Tsurkan and Toma Istomina (Patreon)

Dear Kyiv Independent community members,

Thank you for your continued support. We’re here to announce the next community event for our members: It will be a Q&A about Ukrainian culture with reporter Kate Tsurkan and deputy chief editor Toma Istomina.

We asked our community in Discord which topic they’d like to see covered next in our Q&As with journalists — and the winner was Ukrainian culture. Thank you to everyone who voted in the poll and shared their ideas for future events.

Next Thursday, you can join Kate and Toma as they answer all your questions about Ukrainian culture, from Kyivan Rus to contemporary Ukraine, how Ukrainians resisted russification during the Soviet era to how Russia’s war today affects Ukraine’s cultural scene.

You can find Kate’s coverage here and subscribe to her newsletter Explaining Ukraine here.

Register for the Q&A and submit your questions here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_wNrMC8W6SbqJ-vf-sWwlEA

After registering, you will immediately receive the meeting information and will be sent a reminder one hour before the start of the event.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 16, at 7 p.m. Kyiv time (12 p.m. EDT).

Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you there.
