No News is Bad News — Support Press Freedom This May (Patreon)
Content
Dear Kyiv Independent community members,
Thank you for your continued support.
As World Press Freedom Day approaches on May 3, we are at a turning point, with press freedom in rapid decline, and journalists around the world targeted for doing their jobs. For those reporting from the front lines in Ukraine, the danger is especially acute — with Russian first-person-view drones now increasingly targeting identified journalists. In these conditions, early warning of incoming drones can mean the difference between life and death.
That’s why we've created a new collection: "No News is Bad News."
From April 21 through May 5, 100% of profits from this collection will go toward purchasing approximately 20 drone detectors — at a total cost of around $10,000 — for the Institute of Mass Information, a Kyiv-based organization that protects the rights of journalists, monitors freedom of speech, counters disinformation, and supports the media. The institute will purchase the detectors and will make them available for reporters to borrow from their regional hubs before heading into the field.
By purchasing items from this collection, you are directly contributing to the safety of journalists who risk their lives to keep the world informed.
You can explore the "No News is Bad News" collection here.
And, as always, Kyiv Independent members receive a 15% discount on all store items with the code WELOVEYOU at checkout.
Thank you for standing with independent journalism.
