Dear Kyiv Independent community members,

Our War Crimes Investigations Unit is preparing to present "Last Seen in Crimea," a new documentary uncovering Russia's network of secret prisons on the occupied Crimean peninsula.

Before the film's public release, we invite our community members to exclusive early access, followed by a live Q&A with the film's reporters, Olesia Bida and Myroslava Chaiun of the War Crimes Investigations Unit.

Crimea, Ukraine's southernmost peninsula, was once known for its idyllic nature, warm climate, resorts, and rich Crimean Tatar culture. Since its illegal annexation in 2014, Russia has turned it into a modern-day Gulag where thousands of Ukrainian civilians are held in secret prisons in which Russian special services refine their skills of oppression. Through firsthand accounts from survivors, leaked databases, and months of OSINT work, "Last Seen in Crimea" uncovers the network of FSB-run detention sites and names the officials responsible for running them.

This time, we're trying a new format: on Wednesday, September 9, we'll send you a private link to watch "Last Seen in Crimea" at your convenience. After watching, we invite you to submit any questions you have about the film and the investigation. Then, on Thursday, September 10, at 6 p.m. Kyiv time (11 a.m. EDT), Olesia Bida and Myroslava Chaiun will join a live Q&A session to answer them.

Register for the Q&A and submit your questions here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_XDLD5Ef0QOutEd7uKPrU0g

After registering, you will immediately receive the meeting information and will be sent a reminder one hour before the start of the event.

The film link will be sent on Wednesday, September 9, and the event is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, at 6 p.m. Kyiv time (11 a.m. EST).

Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you there!
