How likely is a nuclear attack on Ukraine? Conversation with Illia Ponomarenko and Rob Lee (Patreon)
Content
At the end of September, Putin declared that he would use “all means” to defend Russia’s position in the illegally annexed territories. As Putin remains unable to take full control of the areas he has claimed, some speculate that “all means” is a veiled threat for the use of nuclear weapons.
On Thursday, our community event will be a conversation between our defense reporter Illia Ponomarenko and defense policy expert Rob Lee about the likelihood that Russia will use nuclear weapons in its war against Ukraine.
Illia has been reporting on Russia’s war against Ukraine since 2014. He has also worked on deployments to Palestine and the DR Congo as an embedded reporter with UN peacekeeping forces.
Rob Lee is a senior fellow in the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s Eurasia Program, as well as a Ph.D. student at the War Studies Department at King’s College London, researching Russian defense policy. Find him on Twitter, here.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m. Kyiv time (1 p.m. EDT).
This event is exclusive to our Patreon community members.
