Dear Kyiv Independent community members,

Thank you for your continued support. Pictured above, the documentary "Bullet Holes" by Danylo Mokryk (center) from Kyiv Independent's War Crimes Investigations Unit premiers in Ukrainian on Tuesday.

"Bullet Holes" focuses on the intentional murders of three Ukrainian children by Russian soldiers in 2022. It's available in English on our YouTube channel.

We'd also like to welcome our 79 new members this week. Thank you for standing with us – your support helps us investigate Russian war crimes and produce documentaries like "Bullet Holes."

Here are some highlights from the Kyiv Independent over the last week:

We reported from Donetsk Oblast on the potential uses of unmanned ground vehicles in combat. Asami Terajima's story looks at the Ukrainian innovators who want to bring life-saving robots to the battlefield, designed to help front-line troops in their assault missions.

One of our most popular stories last week was Igor Kossov's piece about Ukraine's successful attacks on Russian air defenses in Crimea, showing that it is possible to take out some of Russia's most advanced defenses, making the critical peninsula more vulnerable than Moscow intended.

We reported on the developments around Nagorno-Karabakh, amid Azerbaijan's offensive against the breakaway region. As expected, Russia's so-called "peacekeeping" force was nearly absent. Francis Farrell's explainer breaks down the situation around the ethnically Armenian Azeri territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and the relationships in the region.

Episode 26 of "This Week in Ukraine" looks at the looming end of the counteroffensive. Host Anastasiia Lapatina discusses with reporter Francis Farrell what the next thirty days will mean for the counteroffensive and what the operation's end will mean for Ukraine, with your questions starting at 19:09.

This week, Belarus Weekly includes allegations of the country spending $14 million on Lukashenko's latest residency, according to an investigation by BelPol, a group of former Belarusian law enforcement officers opposed to Lukashenko’s rule.

We recently launched our business newsletter! Subscribe to Ukraine Business Roundup to have the top business and tech stories straight to your inbox each week, and read the second issue here.
