If Mal does bind the estragon, in order to mirror the bonds Mal has to bind a spirit, so that means Mal will be cut off from either mirroring his second pair of bonds, or it will cut him off from binding the intersection point.

Just to bring in some info from the server: Mirroring is far from essential to his bonds, so going for the Intersection is still very much an option.
