easily in my top favorites out of all these films! a lot of the fandom considers this film to be the turning point for the franchise as far as things getting dark and darker. it's actually so smart how jk rowling did this series - as the kids grow and age, the situations they are in get more and more intense. it allowed for us to grow up with them vs growing out of the them. it was such a cool concept, every year a new book/film to grow with these characters. i think that's what made it so successful and special for so many. those of us that grew up with the books and seeing the movies as they were released felt like we and the stories/characters were all growing up together with us.

Those of us who have read GOF agree COMPLETELY about the lack of footage at the World Cup. It's much more detailed in the book. I'm hoping the upcoming HP series will actually show all of it. GOF was originally supposed to be two movies but the director insisted on making it just one.

the series started with very young children. the amount of darkness reflected that. As the children matured and were more able to emotionally handle heavier story lines, the complexity and darkness increased. But it was not just the age of the actors, it was also the age of the audience. The audience, just like the actors, started as very young children and they grew up in age and maturity just as the actors were doing. Their capacity for a more scarier experience adapted to their age.

I'm sad that we didn't get to see more of the maze. There was a lot going on in the maze in the books. I'm also sad that we didn't get to see any of Hermoine's SPEW, her efforts to free the house elves from their enslavement to Hogwarts.

The looks and quiet weeping in the audience during that last scene after they get back to the stadium...no amount of crying can portray the sorrow displayed on those faces.
