All of carl's life has been with his dad. Only the last few months has Shane been the man in charge, and that on top of the current world they're being forced to live in. I wouldn't necessarily say that he's dark. I would say that he's a kid growing up in some extreme circumstances, and just like any kid, he's curious. But also has 2 very masculine figures to looked up to and doesn't want to be looked at as just a kid anymore. So he's trying to grow up a little too fast, but he doesn't have the maturity and wisdom yet. And in those situations, children tend to stick with the loudest voices, and that's Shane, because he is a loud mouth about choosing the violent option every time. So it's kind of only natural that he pushes back against his dad a little bit. Especially with before all this happening, Lori constantly saying that she wished Rick would talk more. It's a very complicated situation for Carl.

I hated that it happened to Dale. I really liked him & it was a horrible way to go. Good on Daryl being able to put him out of his misery for Rick. That situation is tough I see both sides and understand it. But I have seen this multiple times now and I keep thinking that kid did choose to stay with those guys even after knowing they rape and attack innocent people. I don't think I would trust him. Shane, I honestly never liked him but they got the perfect actor to play him. He is a good character to dislike. He is very volatile and can't be trusted, I am always waiting for to snap. Also I keep going back to him assaulting Lori it just makes him gross. Can't wait for the next two episodes. Great reaction!

Great reaction, and such a sad death. I'm glad they gave Dale such an impassioned speech beforehand though, and he's right that regardless of what's decided, it's critical to at least hold onto a bit of that old world for their soul's sake. Or what's the limit, do you start roaming and pillaging and raping other groups too? If there's no guardrails at all, well that's a dangerous road to go down.

This episode is extremely sad for a few reasons. Of course the death of Dale is one of the biggest ones. I loved how thoughtful/kind & moral his character was with no issues in telling Shane exactly what he thought of him even after Shane threatened him. Dale will be greatly missed especially because with his death also brings the sad end to a huge moral voice within the group as you suggested in your reactions. Another reason is the loss of morality now showing up in Carl. He’s just a kid who shouldn’t have to see & deal with what he has had to which is making him act in a cold manner & he’s losing (or lost) his childhood especially after what just happened with Dale. One other reason is just how “broken” this group has become. Several characters mention this in the episode but I think the most disturbing instance of just how “broken” is when Shane is discussing taking over Hershel’s farm with Andrea. That is quite scary. I really loved at the end how Daryl helped Rick with Dale so then Rick wouldn’t have the burden of shooting both Dale & Sophia. That would’ve been a lot for Rick to carry so Daryl stepping up when others didn’t was amazing to see.

Gracie's Revenge

I just don't understand why Rick never pulled Lori aside and yelled at her (like she always seemed to be wanting him to do)....about never keeping an eye on Carl! Rick's new "job" is leading the group so he's out doing that, it's his day's work. Her job is still a lot of domestic duties and that includes watching Carl, just like before the apocalypse. Yet he runs off and she never knows where he is. I just don't understand how she's not watching him, and when he does wander off, why isn't she yelling at him and punishing him and plopping his little ass down where she can SEE him while she's doing whatever it is she's doing at the time. Like, when he followed them to the barn to kill Randall, she was right there sitting at their tents/campsite with the other people. Yet she had no idea, or care that Carl wasn't there where he was supposed to be. Rick brought him back and said 'he followed us...' and Lori didn't flinch or say a word. Rick needs to be able to trust her to WATCH that kid while he is out doing his duties, but she is just legit very poor at doing it. She loves Carl, no doubt, but she is unattentive and will cause problems.

Hi Yall I know I'm late to the party on this 1. If anyone looks back they might see this. In my opinion on carl and the zombie. His parents try to keep him in this plastic bubble boy situation in a world like this very bad idea. So now he finds a zombie that all he's been told is dangerous bad run. He is seriously looking at it understanding it better its quickness and limitations being not as afraid. Not as afraid is important you need to deal with them and you cant always run. Yes he's stupid about it but no one else is helping him understand. They need to train him or just let him be a fast food kids meal. Also dale was better off going now he wasn't cut out for the new world it killed him every minute of every day. Carls zombie doing it showed carl there's consequences to actions. Good lesson seems like he learned it.

1 more thing that kid in the barn Randal or what ever saying they didn't kill that man just made him watch his 2 daughters. Didnt say if they killed the daughters also a group like that and he says he didn't participate. That's a lie if he didn't the guys would think he's not with them and kill him right there. He was probably one of the last to do it but he did it.
