This is a pivotal episode, no doubt. Rick having to stab his own best friend, a chosen brother if you will, in the heart. Jesus. I could never... but he really had no choice, Shane had gone off the deep end. Jon Bernthal was such a great casting choice for Shane. And I would say that Shane is made for that world, yeah, but Daryll is too, yet Daryll still has some of his humanity intact, a limiting barrier, my impression of Shane is he really had no limit at all. That's dangerous. Same with Rick.

Tbh Rick didn’t have all the info about Carl so how was he supposed to know he had to talk to him until Shane gave him all the details, and do people there think Rick leaves for funzies haha, he’s doing what has to be done!

First of all, Shane was using Rick’s fatherhood to manipulate and trick him into delaying taking Randall away with Daryl so he could kill him. Second of all, Andrea was not spot on when she told Rick he’s always gone because LITERALLY they have to be out getting things done all of the time. That’s the life. Every time someone leaves, they have a good reason for doing so. Like going back during the bag of guns in season 1, going after Hershel because he’s a doctor after they killed the walkers in the barn, going after supplies, scavenging, hunting, clearing the area from walkers, etc. And while some might disagree with how they’re handling Randall, if he’s going to be taken away, someone’s gotta do it. Besides, what’s Andrea’s point anyway, that no one should leave? Ever? Or both Rick? That doesn’t even make sense! Not to mention she decided to side with Dale when he pled them to keep him alive and now she’s going to give Rick a hard time for leaving? Not only is that nonsensical, that’s not even her place! Also, let’s not forget that as the parent, it’s Rick’s call if and when he should talk to Carl. He could’ve very well dealt with Randall first then talked to Carl when he came back or he could’ve asked Lori to talk to him like he first mentioned. He didn’t have to be the one to talk to Carl and he didn’t have to do it in that moment just because Shane said so. Side note- spoiler thumbnails are so messed up.
