Dang, I remember rushing home from school in 5th grade every day to catch a new episode of this show before my parents forced me to do my homework. Massive throwback, really looking forward to going on this journey all over again

anybody: *starts reacting to ATLA* me: *runs a lap, screams from the rooftops, jumps for joy* No but in all seriousness, ATLA is such a masterpiece of a show that truly holds up even all these years later - and the character arcs and story progression gets better with each book! It's truly lightning in a bottle. So excited to re-watch with you both!!

Dune

You guys are about to see why it's such a beloved show by many.

Zeli

I remember when this show was still airing so many good memories watching it with my older brother. I still have the DVD set of books 1-3 and try to find time to rewatch the series when I can 😂

Gabriel Barott

The world building and character writing are most definitely peak in this show! Excited to see your journey with this one. The story touches on some heavy themes, as you've already seen examples of in these episodes. War, family loss (Katara and Sokka's mother), needing to grow up despite still being children, etc. I love that Aang expresses his reluctance to be the Avatar, because as you guys mentioned, he's still just a kid. When he says "And how am I supposed to do that?" when told he will need to save the world, it's such an authentic sounding reaction. I really appreciate those short lines of dialogue that are seemingly an obvious reaction, but make character's feel human.

CastSenpai

Sokka? This ain't Blue Lock!

Francisco Cintron

My second favorite show of all time behind AOT!!

Meg

Absolute banger of a show! So happy that you're reacting to ATLA. Let's go!!

Amrith

Ok, this happened. Let it build up, let it take over you, give it time. I am so glad you are reacting to a necessary piece of media that needs to be experienced by everyone irrespective of age. Good luck on your journey, it's absolutely worth it.

souma shou

wait what dubbing is this?? i remember the intro used to be worded differently?? some one clarify please.

Amrith

This series has great characters but one GOAT. You will know soon enough. The uncle's name is Iroh btw.

Nanna

The intro for the first episode is different, and then all the other episodes have the iconic intro. They are watching the original version. :)

Agreed you meet the first one in book 1, then the 2nd one in book 2, and book 3 doesn't seem to have one until you realize you've known them since book 1.

paladar blade

Thank god your doing the animated version 1st and not the live action. I'll admit I am bias towards the original and dislike the live action ones including the movie. Though it'll most likely affect your feelings toward the TV live action if you choose to watch it afterwards.

Jeff Grant

Such a wholesome reaction from you guys

JN

I hear you on the apprehension in the beginning Ange. That was the case for me as well when I first watched it, back in 2015 or so. I saw it as a kid and didn't really think much of it back then, so was apprehensive of watching it again when I kept hearing others keep praising it over the years. It took me years to give it another try, after years of hearing how good it was but me putting it off still. And so I took the plunge. I found it started off slow, but after watching the series, I kept being glued for more. Now I consider it a masterpiece. I personally put it up there with AoT and Vinland Saga. But that's me.

Graham

This is, without hyperbole, one of the greatest shows on television, animated or otherwise. Y’all are in for an absolute joyous experience with this one!

KaijinGarou

I'm not such a big fan of AOT but I put it up there with Vinland and Arcane. Personally, even higher as it's my top 1.

KaijinGarou

It's finally here! I hear many people say this is one of the best written animated shows of all time and I beg to disagree because IMO this is just one of the best written shows ever in general, without that limitation. It may be hard to see at first because it is a little more childish but it starts introducing much more mature topics soon enough and it definitely picks up incredibly. This is my personal favorite and I rank it even higher than FMAB, Arcane and Vinland Saga, and those are no joke for me because I know how you feel about them and I feel the same way, but even so. Give it a chance because I promise the bar is up there. Have fun! 💧🟫🔥💨

KaijinGarou

Zuko's horizontal jump skills are actually consistent throughout the entire show 😂

KaijinGarou

Yeah the Avatar theme is absolutely epic. The whole score for the show is as amazing as the writing, the world-building and the characters.

KaijinGarou

Aang's a pacifist monk. Maybe that aspect is also a vehicle for the show not to be as violent but the reason is still deeply rooted in who he is as a person and his background. So it's justified in a clever way and made integral to the story, whatever the case.

KaijinGarou

It is separated in 3 books, although this is a Nickelodeon original and not truly based on books. There are books but those came later after the series.

KapZachlan

What days will this be dropping?

V D

First episode and Carlie is already meme-ing on my boy Zuko 😂😂

Saad Khalid

Man this is great. I have a White Lotus tattoo, this is one of my favourite shows of all time, it really was a thing to look forward to when I was struggling through my master's degree. I'd come home and just be absolutely enchanted by it and it'd wash all the stress away.

Hisoka

Just imagine aang and gon as friends😂
