I THINK Killua was just flat out not allowed to tell Gon about Alluka because of family rules, hence hiding it. Re: Killua leaving, I do think it's important for Killua, now that he has gotten away from Illumi's needles and has established his own character thanks to Gon, to be away from Gon for a bit, so he can know himself when he isn't with Gon. He did it a bit lately, but he needs more or that. I'm definitely not of the "Gon is a bad friend" camp though, I think Gon is a incredibly good friend- but Gon and Killua's relationship has now so much baggage it's good for them to be away from each others. And yeah, having Gon be happy is really good. Gon going suicidal over feeling responsible for Kite's death did a number on him.

THE MEETUP scene always brings tears to my eyes, it was sooooo wholesome 😭😭 Pariston is such a well written annoying fly

Alpha

A "fly" is a mere nuisance. Pariston is currently in charge of 5000 Chimera Ant soldiers with nen abilities.

i’m curious if you guys would ever consider watching hazbin hotel! its not an anime but it’s a musical cartoon so it’d be fun to get your opinions on the music, and the characters are all great (minus.. some…). it’s a very popular show with 8 episodes, so it would be a quick yet enjoyable watch

Pariston is one of the most interesting characters because he's so enigmatic and shady as a politician. Outside of Hisoka and Meruem, 90% of the fan favorite characters on Hxh are pretty generic so I remember him being a breath of fresh air. I don't think Togashi is parodying politics. Politics runs the world and I think he just wanted to do an arc that's drastically different than his other arcs and he likes overly mechanical dialogue/scheming beats so it can get bogged down in this death note-esq conflict. It's not the deepest writing but it's still interesting. The next arc in the manga is also drastically different than any previous arc as well. This is what separates Hxh from most other shounens where they pretty much copy and paste their arc structures and just change up the supporting characters and villains.

Do you guys remember that episode where Gon and Killua go to Whale Island to visit Mito? It was so many episodes ago, just after the Tower arc where they learned Nen. They spend the whole episode just having fun, being kids, exploring Whale Island. And then they have that lovely conversation while they're looking at the stars, talking about what they want to do in the future. I think Gon asked Killua what his plans were and he said he'd stay with Gon until he found a purpose for himself. And now he's found it. Just a poignant bit of writing that's always stuck with me all these years. (Re: election arc. I personally found it extremely tedious and would have been unwatchable without all the character cameos and esp Leorio. Watching everyone trashbagging Ging barely made up for every scene where the Zodiacs were just boring as hell. Except Pariston, I guess, who turned out to be somewhat interesting.)

"I trust Ging as an enemy. These are the friends he trusted to save his son. Why would I not trust them as well?" That's what makes Pariston such an interesting character!
