We're not sure how frequent these will be but we plan to chip away at the episodes because we absolutely loved Avatar so much. This will be the series that we'll squeeze into the schedule.
This first episode hit us right in the feels!

Perfect drop on my Bday ! Thank you so much, looking forward to Kaiju as well :)

Louis Miller

My boring Saturday afternoon has been saved! Thank you 😊

Maya Coleman

You guys woke me out of my sleep for this you guys are legends 😂❤️

Xemnas

Peak Fiction is back already

L S

easily in my top 10 most disappointing shows out there, even the way just the first episode starts is bad, no toddler can bend 3 elements and if you think that then rewatch atla please, and if anyone still think so then watch it again until you understand (its not hard to understand tho)... have fun tho, especially the s2 writing is so garbage its almost good again... also since Carlie asked no the writers are somewhat changed, some of atla are still on board but i think around half of them werent involved with atla (and it will show), i also think its sad that you guys watch a masterpiece of a show that could've built an amazing franchise and then approach the successor with "no expectations".... that makes little to no sense at all, or could be translated to we know this show might suck but because theres fans that we dont want to disappoint we'll pretend its fine

idk

Seeing carlie cry in the first two minutes was just so relatable when I first watched the few episodes. I miss the GAANG😭💯

RunAwayCloak
>>147441157

Bro don't watch it then alot of people love lok and yes there has been avatars before that could bend all elements at a young age

RunAwayCloak

I'm wasn't into avatar the last air bender but I'm a big lok fan hope you guys enjoy the story.

Martina

it’s natural to feel sad about the Gaang being old/dead/not center stage anymore. I think it’s one of the reasons many people dislike Korra. but give the new characters a chance! and just keep in mind it’s not ATLA, it’s a different show.

L S
>>147441157

"dont watch it then" is a horrible take, im a great of atla, its probably my favorite franchise, so of course im pissed at the lore changes done here... also no stop lying theres no canon ATLA content that says a toddler can bend 3 elements, also kindly, please re watch ATLA because that show makes it clear that bending 3 elements at 3-4 years old is more or less IMPOSSIBLE... she didnt even have teachers or nothing, look at how far katara got, being MUCH older than korra and barely being able to bend without a teacher...

Marc Senécal
>>147441157

Are you gonna complain about Korra under every post and comment that mentions it? You're obssessed lol we get it you hate Korra with a passion, now move on and let people enjoy stuff cause you're not gonna convince anyone to suddenly dislike a show they love 😊

Matthew Hunt Davies
>>147441157

Good to know you're taking this patreon release well and not getting overly emotional. It actually is a good show. Its not better than ATLA, but it's got good characters, great villains, more Avatar Lore. Season 2 is pretty terrible but that's it.

Matthew Hunt Davies
>>147441129

L S, get a grip and just don't watch it, instead of insulting others that enjoyed the show. Sorry its not up to the great show reviewer LS's standards.

Marc Senécal

Yesss Very excited to rewatch this with you guys! LoK has some of the best bending scenes🔥

L S
>>147441157

good to know that i can spread my opinion on here without people getting overly emotional :) LOK fans not trying to shut down any opinion thats short of glazing = impossible

RunAwayCloak

Aang died of natural causes him being in the ice for so many years affect his life span

L S
>>147441129

Get a grip MATTHEW instead of replying to every comment i leave. if "watch more shows man" is an insult to you because he says its PEAK you might wanna grow some skin. i mean maybe yall wanna think about what youre saying before youre saying it... peak means theres NOTHING better than that... LOK IS JUST NOT THAT now stop getting your knickers twisted... and lovely to see im "HATING" because i dont agree with XEMNAS and MATTHEW HUNT DAVIES take that this is the best show ever. its just hypocritical at this point.... oh so you can say that but i cant disagree. ok....

SpaceCadet
>>147441157

the show was a disappointment TO YOU, you were disappointed because YOUR expectations of a sequel show were not met, no where in avatar do they say an avatar can’t bend three elements in childhood, knowing how to bend isn’t the same as mastering it. honestly in a lot of aspects I prefer korra even though I agree that avatar all around is better written

Mango

Welp time to rewatch LoK 🙌🙌 Can't wait to see your reaction for this series

Alexis

I tried watching LoK, couldn't get into it... 😅 It's just the sequel thing..

L S
>>147441157

in fact yes its my opinion so if i write that I find it disappointing, that makes it my opinion. "no where in avatar do they say an avatar can’t bend three elements in childhood, knowing how to bend isn’t the same as mastering it." i never said it was said literally word for word in the show but its definitely inbetween the lines, bending the elements takes years of practice... think about it logically, roku was 16 when he left and started his training, he was definitely end of 20s if not older when he mastered the last element. but yeah sure korra can bend 3/4 elements as a toddler... my expectations for LOK definitely arent the sole source of my disappointment but im not sure what standards you have when mine where wrong because i mostly expected to keep the canon in line and not re explain / over explain things that ruin the lore... i think thats a reasonable expectation, why do you think most star wars fans dislike the sequel trilogy? because it doesnt respect the lore set up in the source material. same thing here. also i wouldnt be disappointed if i didnt see the potential this had but thats obv. after it being an atla successor... you have to interpret this show on a very superficial level to believe that it follows the same strengths that atla had (like saying its the same because theres bending in here and an avatar... thats the bare minimum)

Marc Senécal
>>147441157

Gaslighting is a serious form of psychological abuse that takes place over an extended period of time in order to plant self-doubt and confusion about reality in someone's mind. This is not "gaslighting", its someone disagreeing with you, quit being a drama queen and using words you don't understand. EDIT: glad to see you erased that.

Dune

Regarding toph, her family name is beifong so we don't know who the father is unless they reveal it in the books or something. That aside I'm curious how you guys will receive this show. Definitely some parts of this show I felt a type of way about it but it's easier to digest when you keep in mind that she's a very different avatar from aang and it's a whole new era.

L S
>>147441157

"its someone disagreeing with you, quit being a drama queen and using words you don't understand. " might wanna take your own words to heart... cause yall are breaking my balls because you cant stand someone disagreeing with you... you literally said that my bad experience with lok is my own fault as if film making has no objective / qualitiative merrits...

L S
>>147441129

ah yes continuing the hypocrisy... insulting other people because they disagree with you... wherent you giving me shit for that just a second ago?

Marc Senécal
>>147441157

"you literally said that my bad experience with lok is my own fault" Now you're straight up lying. Nowhere did I say anything remotely close to that LMAO. My 2 previous comments are the gaslighting one and the first is telling you to stop complaining. I don't care about your bad experience lol

L S
>>147441157

my bad that was space cadets statement. and also i really dont care about you having a problem with my opinion. if you dont care about my bad experience, what makes you think i would care about you complaining about me complaining? LOK fandom is hilarious

ariangomez

The first time was very difficult, but I loved it, it has notable moments, very good characters, etc.💖 At least here in Latam it is very loved (currently). Fun fact: Korra's quick introduction to her powers is because they weren't planning on making a series.

Jordan Henry

I'm so happy you guys jumped on this quickly! I adore TLoK, especially Korra herself. And the way you guys tend to engage with characters and understand them I think will jive with this show nicely! Also as someone who also makes Reaction videos - this show was one of my favourites for reactions, you can have some really great discussions, especially if you loved ATLA.

KaijinGarou

We didn't forget about Yue, we always remember when we look at the moon 😌

Matthew Hunt Davies
>>147441129

Insulting you because I disagree with you as a person and insulting someone from what they like watching are very different in my eyes. You talk as if your opinion rules all. I don't think this show is peak, far from it, but I don't see the reasoning behind you saying its just your opinion, and then displaying that opinion as a fact

Reginald

Women tend to live longer than men. Which is why i think all the male characters have passed on.

Reginald

Beifong is Toph’s surname.

KaijinGarou

The crazy theories are back. Appa reproducing via mitosis is hilarious 🤣

rk4ss

After you said in ATLA finale Korra would've may taken you a bit to react to, this came up as a huge surprise and GAVE ME MY LIFE! I'm sure you'll enjoy the show xx.

Fake FakeName

New avatars are born almost the moment the previous avatar dies. Korra is 17, so aang died 17 years ago. It just takes a few years for people to find the new one

KaijinGarou

The Gaang is DEAD, CARLIE!! 🤣

poisonivybag
>>147441157

You're absolutely entitled to your opinion but I'm wondering what you're getting out of this. One or two comments is fair but yours are quite lengthy as well. Are you going to comment under every reaction of LoK they do to get them to hate the show as well?

KaijinGarou

Mako was Iroh's VA, yes. His son was Lu Ten.

Alexis

Fun fact: every avatar has the face of their partners.. Roku's wife and Aang Katara and Korra

L S
>>147441157

God forbid i have an opinion to the second and last installement of my favorite franchise. what makes yall think you can judge how and when i voice my opinion on that. why would i not? so now ask yourself what those guys above are getting out of being annoyed by me saying i dislike something that they like... really mature behaviour. and none of my comments were particularly long. And no im not "trying to get them to hate the show as well". I might occasionally chime in when LOK screws up the lore and give some info of how it originally was, like in this chase korra being able to bend 3 elements at 3 years old being nonsense (normal babies start talking between 12-18 months) im sorry but if youve payed any attention during atla that doesnt make any sense... another example is toph: she is a prodigy/ legendary master of earthbending that probably only is seen every few generations, and she only bends ONE element, she was 5 when she started learning earthbending from the original benders (badgermoles) and only mastered it over time but her being blind obv. accelerated the learning curve due to neccessity. Korra is 3 and bends 3 elements... and this isnt just my opinion, many people share the sentiment that this isnt in line with everything being set up. do with this information as you please, except for taking offense to it because its starting to get annoying how bitchy people get

Nilexinator

i think tlok is pretty bad. it just piggybacks on atlas fame and nostalgia. its badly written. most of the characters are horrible. dammm its bad. but i will continue to support you and i hope you have fun with it.

Kurusedo

Let’s goooo 🔥

K

Aang died at 66/166. The iceberg sapped his life force a little bit. The resurgence of the sky bison is explained in the comics, as well as the creation of Republic City and Zuko’s mom. Appreciate the callbacks when they come, but get to know the new characters too.

beannieswife

LETS GOOOO, can’t wait to watch these tonight!! LoK is good when you don’t have an annoying btch in your ear telling you it’s bad🙏 that’s all I’m gonna say lmao im curious to know your thoughts on everything cause there’s for sure things that i dislike and things that i absolutely loved of the series, and the fandom is divided in some things, the discussions are gonna get juicy

Kfir shaltiel

Did you notice who was Tenzin’s voice actor?

DalyDose

Lots of people have lots of opinions of LoK, but I truly love it. I think y'all will too based on your tastes. When it hits, it hits hard. The music, characters, villains, action can be just as good as the best of ATLA. Season 3 of Korra is a personal favorite, some days I'd even rank it as my favorite season of either show. Overall it's nowhere near as consistent as ATLA, much of that had to do with outside factors. Nickelodeon really screwed the production side of things, but that's a whole other ball of wax.

Daniel Molina

Always get emotional thinking of that scene in ATLA when Katara yells “F*ck the police” and the Gaang starts playing NWA 🥹

Jesus Rocha
>>147449548

You are really just a hater. You definitely hate TLOK and your judgment comes from pure emotion. As an Avatar fan myself I past the negatives which yes TLOK is not perfect but it’s still a really good show. Love the music, the story and the characters and the fighting scenes are really good. You are entitled of expressing your opinion. But since your judgment is purely out of emotion. I just don’t see it fair. Oh well free to express yourself mate.

Gabriel Barott

Objectively, LOK isn't where it needs to be for it to be held in the same light as ATLA. I'm huge into Aang's philosophies and I think Korra differs from him in a lot of ways. That doesn't have to be a bad thing necessarily, and sometimes it's really engaging and compelling, but overall it misses the mark. This show has a rough time writing it's villains too (not that the writing is all bad, but I'll clarify this at a later point in time). I'll give my full thoughts on it at the end of the series, as I don't want to spoil anything. I want to make it clear that I don't think this show is bad, I just think it's inconsistent. Despite all of this, I still enjoy re-watching this series. I'll also clarify that I actually think there are some parts of this series that are significantly better than ATLA. You'll just have to see for yourself.

Alejandro Garcia
>>147449548

To assume someone’s opinion is based purely on emotion just because they expressed an opinion that differs from yours seems to be a judgment based purely on emotion in itself. Also saying things like “you’re entitled to expressing your opinion” or “free to express yourself” it’s pretty unnecessary because that is a Given. TLOK has good soundtrack and good fighting choreography other than that the story is poorly written and so are MOST of the characters (with very few exceptions) feel free to label my opinion as “purely based on emotion” as well for as long as that helps yours feel validated.

MelanieRS

"Do we know ANY character with the last name Beifong?" LOLOLOL I laughed so long and hard at that. while yelling at the screen. yep, Toph lolol

Patrick Wotton

Some things you need to know about LoK: it wasn't yet green lit for multiple seasons when writing for Season 1 started so you're going to feel a jarring pace when it comes to storytelling, meaning they were writing season 1 with the knowledge that there was only going to be 1 season, not 2, let alone 3 seasons. Second is that ATLA was so good that people couldn't help comparing the two stories, in particular the two Avatars, their personalities, and the way they make decisions. Aang is held to such a high standard that Korra is forced into a position of living up to that. Third, LoK unfortunately suffered because the lead was a female POC, and a sizeable chunk of the derision it got was because the more ... backwards side of the fandom couldn't handle or process her complexity, especially in the later seasons when sensitive topics come into play. So please don't be swayed by the comments for now and just enjoy the show at face value.

Heinrich

Guys, I don't want to say much. However, I would like to say thank you for the content thus far, I keep coming back for more (came here for AOT and stayed for the rest), so much so that it helps make the daily grind a bit easier. I'm very happy you started Legend Of Korra, I'ts really good in my opinion, and I wholeheartedly think it'll be worth you're time, and you would really enjoy it. Anyways, that's it from me, as always, great content, an thank you.

Heinrich

P.S I know you're doing Legend Of Korra "unofficially". however if episodes comes out on a weekly basis, I' gonna be here to watch them, (along with My Hero obvi, huge fan)

zdravko georgiev

Just to mention something that isn't actually a spoiler, 2 avatars can't exist together, Korra was born Avatar just as Aang. Which means that when Aang died, Korra was born.

h12

MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alicea J
>>147470700

Agreed. I think nostalgia is another reason people didn’t give Korra a chance. They were attached to gaang, and couldn’t watch LoK as its own show.

Mahad Yare

Getting into LoK is made difficult by the fact that the existence of a new avatar means the passing of Aang, and possibly most of all those characters we loved in ATLA. It's hard not to feel emotional, especially if you start watching LoK as soon as you finish the Last Airbender!🫡

Kolton Nay

Wow, didn't expect LOK so soon! We are eating good right now with this line-up! Yes composer Jeremy Zuckerman came back for this series and he's still so amazing! this is such a different story from ATLA, but I love it so much for its own reasons.

Tasha Aponte

You have no idea how excited this made me! Was not expecting to see a Korra reaction anytime soon, thank you for doing this! You’re both gonna love it, this show is a journey and very enjoyable. Treat it as its own show, it’s not ATLA but that doesn’t mean it’s not great. Can’t wait to see more from you!

Crytica

This must've been a new record in speed for Carlie tearing up LOL

Alba

The person in the newspaper was Lin Beifong (Toph''s daughter), also Beifong is Tophs surname. Have a nice day!

Alba

It's so funny to me how Tenzin tries so hard to be like Aang and he is literally the exact same as Katara I love him so much jjajaj

Jjj.

Just watch it as it owns series. It may lack the charm of ATLA, but tbh anything lacks the charm of ATLA… still, the story telling and fights scenes in korra are mostly elite.

DandyZombie

I have a lot of issues with Korra as a show but honestly I think its a solid show, I'm not a huge fan of the first two seasons but they aren't horrible. Its hard for a show to be its own things when its under such a big shadow. I think season three was when it finally hit its stride and found its identity as a series separate from ATLA. I have a a lot to say but I wont spoil by complaining about plots I wish were better handled. All in all, its a fun time, just not as iconic and groundbreaking as ATLA.

DandyZombie
>>147454214

I think I know what annoying Btch you are referring to haha Yeah agreed, I let myself be confined it was horrible years back, and only realized how misled id been when watching with a reactor later on. Can't wait to see them enjoy all Korra has to offer!

LookingForOwls

So there seems to be some confusion 1. Beifong is Toph's last name 2. I think you guys said Toph was dead which was not confirmed in this episode, she's a ??? - Sokka was confirmed dead 3. Avatar Aang would have died immediately before Korra was born, as she is his reincarnation. The avatar doesn't come into a child around age 5 - that's just when she started bending and they could confirm it was her.

Hisoka

Enjoy!

jacob
>>147497091

They're just theorizing m8 no need to confirm or deny anything they are 2 episodes in

Abhi

Also keep in mind the studio only gave the writers 12 episodes to work with! After season 1 ended, then the studio decided to give them more episodes to make season 2. Same with s3 and s4! Unlike airbender where they had 3 seasons to create a full fledged story!

JN

Damn, I was expecting this to drop later, but it's a welcome surprise. - I think Carlie remembering Yue like that is a first LOL. I agree with Ange. But it is nice Carlie remembered her, she was an important and sweet character. - Horrible Sky Bison theory Ange LOL. But hilarious. -- Oh yeah I forgot to ask during ATLA's finale, but what does Carlie think about Zuko's VA in ATLA now? I used to be iffy about his voice too, but then it really warms up to you, doesn't it? No one else can be Zuko.

JN

The "flute" at the end is actually an Erhu, which is like a Chinese violin. Traditional bowed string instrument. Sounds like a violin, but played like a cello. Do you recognize Tenzin's voice actor by the way? Very prolific VA AND live-action actor.

JN

I like Korra, but I do find its pacing is rushed. It has great ideas, but the execution was hard to digest with the torrent of things happening all at once IMO. ATLA's flow with how it teaches the lessons and pacing the story was very organic, natural. Upon reading the comments, that might be because apparently the series was only greenlit for 1 season, so they had to fit all their ideas in the 12 or so episodes.

Nilton Felix

OMG IM SO HAPPY YOU DECIDED TO WATCH KORRA! I hope you have a good journey!

LookingForOwls
>>147497091

I haven't confirmed or denied anything though? Just cleared up stuff that has been absolutely confirmed 100% by this point in the watch.

Ethan J Soto

Some context around the pacing/writing of S1 of Korra: The show was greenlit for only one season, and ended up getting 4. Because of this, the writer's initially worked to tell a full-circle story in one season. It's most likely why Korra is seen bending 3 elements as a toddler, fast-forwarding to her teen years. They simply didn't have the time to build up a mastering-journey like they did with Aang.

jacob
>>147497091

Number 2 you might as well confirmed it as anyone with a brain can figure out what you meant

The Great Santini

Ya know doubling up on MHA reactions WAS an option, right? =P JK. Enjoy this one, Avatar fans@

Hikiko

I remember this show being. . .difficult for me to get into when I was a kid. Curious to see how it's aged with you guys👍

Vlad Stoenescu
>>147569002

Well it ended up being 4 but as I recall the other seasons had the same issue as well, the writers never really had the luxury of being able to plan more than one at a time.

Vlad Stoenescu

Even though it's not as good ATLA, for reasons that have more to do with corporate policy than talent and the work that was put into it, Korra is still a very good show and has a lot of moments where it shines. I really think you'll love it for what it is.

Amanda

Please be patient until book 3, book 3 is so fire

LookingForOwls
>>147497091

Well I'm really glad that you saved us all from the spoilers by explicitly spelling them out.

Mathies

The new avatar is only born when the previous one dies, so its been about 17/18 years since aang died. He died at 66. I think its a thing where he spent so much of his life energy preserving himself in ice for 100 years, it took some years off him. "we dont know anyone with the surname Beifong" yes you do. TOPH beifong

Gabriel Barott
>>147463307

It's not that Korra not being a pacifist misses the mark, it's how she's written that misses the mark. The show tries to have this angsty teen character that struggles with doing the right thing, someone who's rash and reactionary. It's actually a really interesting take on having her be the Avatar (and main character) because you'd expect an Avatar to be wise, patient and considerate. So the groundwork for this to be interesting is there, but the execution is flawed. I'm not going to explain it all here, as to prevent a spoiler conversation, but I think the writers didn't know how to write this kind of character into someone compelling through the entire series. I'll add that I do believe Korra's writing improves a lot in the later seasons, but it stays inconsistent for too long.

Danyal

YES! WOOOO

Kevin

Homeless guy from the park has near identical design to Shu/Dock/Bushi from the Painted Lady ep.

Romang
>>147510636

yeah, it’s cause nickelodeon was CONSTANTLY doing the writers dirty. it’s really frustrating bc while i do rlly like lok, a lot of its flaws probably wouldn’t be as glaring if the writers were actually given some grace by the network

Jerry Johnson

I’m confused on how he watch from here can someone please help 🙏🏾

MeL

LET'S GOOOO!!! I just got finished binging your ATLA reactions and now I can't wait for Korra!!

Ninjahaz 01

I held off for a bit, but you've got quite a few of these out now. Time to start watching this show with you :) I don't care what people said about this show, I enjoyed it throughout and recorded it on my Tivo when it was releasing when I was younger lol. Hope you guys are enjoying this, it sure seems like it at least.
