chloe

AAAAAAA LET'S GOOOOOO

chance

Great choice to only watch the first season then read the rest!!! The manga truly is amazing and it’s a shame the anime fell flat, but I hope that means more people will appreciate the mangas art 🙏

JAM

Lesssgggoooooo

chloe
>>152203513

Meg
>>152203513

It was such a good show for it's time! I love the manga more but season 1 was really good. And TG was where I fell in love with Hanae san's voice first.

원 지

I'm not lying. Season 1 of Tokyo Goull is one of my favorite season 1

chloe

tokyo ghoul manga is amazing, i read it along aot before. two other faves (manga and anime) are deadman wonderland and noragami. both of these are so underrated but hoping to see you react to it one day 🙏

Meg

Not even a minute in but I have to comment early, Ange said he would read the Tokyo Ghoul manga post season 1 and I could legit CRY FROM JOY!! Ange (and hopefully Carlie too soon) discovering the joys of reading manga is giving me so much life! You're right in that TG is definitely way better to continue as a manga after season 1 of the anime. Hope you can enjoy it just as much as I/we did!!

chloe
>>152203513

i loved the manga so much. re was just disappointing to me that i did not even watch the third season

Meg
>>152203513

Same here. If they ever decide to do a TG reboot I hope they will stick to the manga 🙏

Desert

Used to be in this Patreon but haven't paid in a while. HAD to rebuy when I saw this notification. Personally love s1 and s2 but I'm all for manga reactions after s1 🔥🔥

Leah

This wasn’t my original first choice but honestly? This is a great watch for October season. Hope you guys have a great time with it!

Mango

It’s been 10 years since season 1 came out. 10 years since I watched TG. Feels weird to watch it again 😂 Oh and I have not seen season 2.

Fauzan Alamsyah

"Unravel playing in the background" Ange: "I came here for this shit, VOLUME UP!!" *Also nice unravel cover👌

Also the VA for kaneki is the same as tanjirou in Demon Slayer and Arima Kousei in Your Lie in April, fyi.

Wiznoot123

How many episodes is Tokyo ghoul?

Meg

Btw Kaneki's VA is the same as our best boy demon slayer Kamado Tanjiro and Rize's VA is our best girl Mitsuri. Also Amon (the detective in the trench-coat in the end whom you'll meet in detail later) is our man Uzui Tengen :D

Mima

SO EXCITED FOR THIS

Moody

That was a SICK cover of unravel Ange!!

salha RW

OHH TG lets goooo 😍😍!! BTW kaneki is tanjero VA and Rezi is mitsuri 😍

Gabriel Barott

That cover of unravel though 🔥 I wonder if Ange could ever bless us with the guitar solo in the middle of the song ;)

Zeli

I'm getting flash backs to The Last of Us series, "Did you just skip the opening!" 🤣

Decaf

I remember the excitement when they announced Tokyo Ghoul Animation. For some reason, I never watched it, so I'm glad I finally got around to it.

Yashu

U really gonna watch just season 1? In my personal opinion only season 4 was trash, s2 and s3 were fine (unless im remembering it wrong-its been ages since i watched it)

Korbin Lampe

Omg 🤣🤣 Ange’s reaction when Carlie skipped the intro had me dying

Xan

You guys are watching the censored version I think...

Xan

Yes you guys are watching the 100% censored version LMAO

idk

Seeing Jason pissed me off so much man😭 I forgot how much I hate that dude. GREAT REACTION BTW! I love S1

Alejandro Garcia

After getting two hurricanes down here in Florida this entertainment is all that I need

zdravko georgiev

So basically Tokyo Ghoul has a hard to deal with plot. It's gore, it's harsh, I think it almost completely lacks comedy in it. It's a completely serious and violent (even psychologically) anime. Be ready. And watch season 2 as well. Season 1 is like the prologue of the anime, it's a pity if you watch only the prologue. Give a chance to season 2 even though it doesn't follow the manga. It has some great scenes really worth watching.

charr lotte

I hope they remake the anime in future. It failed to capture what the manga was trying to convey in later seasons(literally change plot midshow)

actuallie

ANGE'S COVER!!!!!!! LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Night Sterling

Man i hope they make a remake of this anime

Cyber

episode 2 intro : "How dare you skip this intro..." I expected him to say he was going to file for divorce right then and there :P THE BLASPHEMY lol (i'm kidding carlie!)

Cyber
>>152230750

is this why my crunchyroll was constantly going out of sync with them?

Phil

Oh, in the second epidoe I finally realised you are watching a censored version. There is much less blood and negative filters over the especially heavy scenes. Also when the ghoul had his foot on Hide's head, he barely moved it in the censored version, where in the uncensored one, there was a lot of stomping involved.

Arshes Nei

"Hey Angelo, mate I've also enjoyed watching The Vampire Diaries until season 5. Lol!"

zdravko georgiev
>>152247059

there is no point in watching it at all if you are going to stop on season 1, season 2 at least concludes some events. Tokyo Ghoul Season 1 is a 12 episode season completely acting like a prologue to the whole story.

Xaniss

it's funny how Season 1 is the ONLY good season of Tokyo Ghoul, since Season 2 is anime original and S3 and 4 are REALLY rushed... I recently bought the manga and am reading it... season 1 is still quite rushed and skips A LOT of stuff... but compared to the other seasons it's still great.

The Great Santini

You guys seem to be watching some weird censored version. Just a heads up.

Marc Senécal
>>152247059

"there is no point in watching at all if you stop at season 1" I mean that's just blatantly wrong lol You can have fun and enjoy your time watching something even if it doesn't have a conclusion. Less satisfying? obviously, but saying there's no point at all it just an awful take. It being a prologue changes nothing. For example Vinland saga season 1 is a prologue yet its still worth watching by itself even if you didn't plan on watching season 2 for X or Y reasons.

Shingoo

Just out of curiosity do any of you know why they blur the upper half of the video?

Duffmang

Seeing the subtitles say 'antique' made me cringe everytime. How can the subtitles be so wrong?

JsonKim

The lyrics of the song, if you translate it, and watch the first episode. Fits perfectly. Since it talks about the monster from within

Ryan
>>152856686

It's been a while since I'v watched this so I don't remember much. What should the subtitle say?

Duffmang
>>152856686

It should be Anteiku, which is the name of the coffee shop/ghoul organisation that helps kaneki.

cheekyramen

Oh damn rewatching this is so nostalgic, Tokyo Ghoul was to me what JJK/Demon Slayer is to new gen anime fans. Ange cover of unravel is fire 🔥 🔥 probably would have blown up if this was like 2014 and Tokyo Ghoul/unravel popularity was at its peak 😆

angelalala

Random fun fact: Kaneki is Hanae Natsuki's (Tanjiro's VA)breakout role. I only read the manga, so this is gonna be a fun ride~ About the manga: Ishida Sui's artwork is amazingly intricate and the first Tokyo Ghoul's story is pretty good (can't comment no the sequel/second half? Tokyo Ghoul:re , since I dropped it midway), but I'd only recommend it to people who can stomach gore, body horror, etc. I'm usually not a big fan of this type of genre, so the fact that I finished reading it shows how gripping the story of the manga was. But it's hard one to recommend to others since you don't really know what people find triggering or gross. I dropped the second manga mainly because :re's story felt all over the place and lost its charm. Plus a lot of the new characters were not my cup of tea, so I stopped.

nic

Sooooo happy to hear you'll be reading the manga. My favorite manga series of all time. The anime does not even come close to doing it justice. Plot-wise, character-wise, and especially art wise, the manga is just peak.

NiNi

Hi Angelo. I read the manga a few years ago and I highly highly recommend it. If there's one manga I would recommend, it would be Tokyo Ghoul.

Johannes Joestar

"There was that girl, I don't remember her name..." Always good to know that your favorite reactors haven't been replaced by aliens
