The netflix version of the show seems a bit off, I believe the coffee shop was spelt "Anteiku" rather than Antique when I saw it. It's also overly censored...

You guys may need to conduct a bit of necessary evil ("Arrr! ") to switch to the uncensored version. The censored version is just Doo Doo water it is very obvious to the viewers.

On e3 you mentioned "can they still eat human food, it just tastes bad". Like 3 subtitles before you asked that it said if they digest human food it'll make them ill.

This version is HEAVILY censored and altered. I'm not one for fictional gore but turning scenes with heavy blood into negative mode colors is just really ugly and takes so much away. A lot of the subs seem off as well. For example the coffee shop is called Anteiku, not "Antique" and Anteiku does not mean Antique in Japanese. So it's just straight up using the wrong name for no reason. Not complaining at all to you guys, just felt like pointing out some changes in this version from the original

Most of it will become clear as you watch. Hopefully this will be helpful: The quiet guy's name is Ren Yomo. Tsukiyama is also known as the Gourmet ghoul. A fun fact is that the creator of Tokyo Ghoul is a Hisoka fan and has also drawn a manga about Hisoka's past which was approved by Togashi. Rize Kamishiro is the Glutton. These nicknames are used by the CCG (the anti ghoul organisation). Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to know and I'll answer spoiler free. I've seen another channel called Sorta Stupid watch the uncensored version but i don't know where they found that

Also in episode 1 when Jason attacked Rize, Rize stole Jason's pliers and then dropped them off the building. What happened next was left open ended. Watching you guys react to TG is dope btw

About the wards, it's location based, kinda like they are all based in the same suburb. They can't exactly control who lives there, though some wards/suburbs are dodgier than others. From what I understood, ward 20 has been quiet but recently there's been more and more trouble in there so it drew the attention of the investigators

man idk if it's just me but the censorship really takes away from certain scenes. If ya'll have crunchyroll I do recommend watching it on there instead if you can.

They mentioned really quickly in an earlier episode that eating normal food is poison to the ghouls. Thats why they have to throw up later or it makes them sick. They don't have a choice really but to eat people.

A few things: - I didn't think you noticed but at the end of ep 2, Hide opened his eyes just right when Kaneki and the manager were leaving the room - The guys in the CCG mentioned that Jason's weapon they got as evidence was made of quinque steel, the material they use for their own weapons - The author of the manga, Sui Ishida, did base Tsukiyama's character from Hisoka. They mentioned a lot of times that they love HxH with Hisoka as their favorite. I'm pretty sure they also made a bunch of art of Hisoka in their style that has been acknowledged by the author of HxH. - Many of the details you guys are noticing will be relevant in the story later on (mostly in the manga). Sui Ishida uses a lot of foreshadowing and symbolism in Tokyo Ghoul and its sequel manga Tokyo Ghoul:Re so if you're planning to read those you might want to keep that in mind

About wards: Tokyo is divided into 23 wards (for example, the Shibuya area is a ward). In the TG universe, the CCG assign people to different wards to monitor/counter ghouls there.
