Awww I wanted more this understandable ❤️. Happy new years 🎊🎆🎈

Gavin fox

Been waiting hehe

Chimpman

Not them missing the metal glowing after it went around P'Li's head and then showing her body with smoke coming off it lmao.

Aaron Mitchell

Not kuvira catching strays😭😭. And for clarification P’li had her face covered while her eye explosion was going off, essentially implying that she got her head 🤯. But yea! Keep doing you guys❤️❤️

Michael Philliber

pli 100% is dead af. she blew her head up when her head was covered thats why there was a pume of smoke in the area. she has no head anymore

michael

Wait, didnt you realize pli blowed herself up?

Eric

Book 4 is a nice conclusion to the series I’m sure you guys will enjoy. Korra definitely earns the word “Legend” in her series name.

Patrick Wotton

Bolin can probably lavabend because it's in his blood. Remember that he's brothers with Mako who's a firebender. That means their bloodline has both firebenders and earthbenders in it. So theoretically lavabending might only be possible to earthbenders with firebending blood. As for the misunderstanding about the poison, when Zaheer said it was platinum, he meant the chains binding Korra. The poison is metallic, but not platinum, that's why the Red Lotus grunts can bend it.

Jesus Rocha

I think because of Bolín being the son of a woman from the Fire Nation might be a reason why he lavabends. This just my theory.

Yashu

I never actually thought of that but you might be right- You have to be a special way to be a lavabender, Bolin's and Mako's parent were earth and firebenders so maybe that's why he can lavabend

Yashu
>>160084298

or maybe he just saw that guy do it and when his life was in danger he was able to mimic/pick up on the lavabending

Deathonater5

I'd probably attribute it to the fact that a metal bender probably administered the poison, so a metal bender can remove it. If it was platinum then no known metal bender would be able to bend it.

K

P’Li went sparky sparky boom.

J-or-Dan

So about metalbending, lavabending, even healing its a binary of either you can or you can't if it had been metal coming down that path bolin would not have been able to stop it. Blood bending and combustion bending can be taught but both are highly skilled techniques and in the case of combustion bending the training to learn it is effectively torture

Mango

It's cool to see every bending having some kind of a specialty: Water - Blood bending/Healing Fire - Lightning/Combustionbending Air - Flying/and all the out of body spirit stuff Earth - Lavabending/Metalbending

Maya Coleman

Book 3 is the best one so far I really enjoyed it from beginning to end 🔥

Surme

Metalbenders can't bend platinium cause "since platinum is one of the purest forms of metal, there is not enough earth for benders to manipulate."

Maya Coleman

Oh yeah jinora was talking about the poison being metallic not the handcuffs the handcuffs that korra was chained to was made out of platinum

Jesus Rocha

Ngl the last scene with Korra crying makes me sad 😢. She suffered a lot and despite being a very powerful figure she is still a human being and she has the right to feel her emotions. Poor Korra 💔.

Jesus Rocha

I’m probably one of the few ones that enjoyed season 2 lol. I still agree that is the weakest but he had some good moments and my favorites were with avatar Wan and the reintroduction of Uncle Iroh. The ending was satisfying for me too.

LookingForOwls

1. P'li absolutely did die, she fired a shot a split second after the armor was placed around her head and kerploded herself. 2. The chains were platinum, not the poison. The poison was probably mercury. 3. Very perceptive of you to see the similarities between the Zaheer/Korra fight and the Ozai/Aang fight - they are absolutely intended to be mirrors of each other.

Ash

The poison wasn’t platinum. Zaheer was referencing the chains when he mentioned platinum. That’s why there was some henchmen that was able to metal bend it into Korra. Zaheer also was banking on the fact that no one knew the poison was metallic, but he didn’t know Jinora was eavesdropping using her spiritual projection when they were poisoning her.

The 2 part episode with Wan are some of my absolute favorites, but that doesn't make the travesty that is the rest of season 2 any better.

Cornelius Ukena

one of those prerequisites for lavabending you were alluding to could be being an earthbender with a firebending parent. 🙃 not saying that’s actually the reason bolin can lavabend, but it’s certainly a fun theory. it is said (whether as fact or belief) that only 1/100 earthbenders can metal bend—it’s possible that lavabending is just a similarly rare natural gifting.

Martina

not that I didn't love Bolin's lavabending moment, but couldn't he just make some rock stairs down the mountain or something haha

Douglas Kelley

Thanks for talking over Tenzin’s speech. 👍

Cornelius Ukena

the chains and handcuffs were platinum which are established as being unbendable in this series when it’s appropriately purified. the poison was not platinum. it’s never stated exactly what it is—just that it’s metallic. it’s very likely just mercury.

Cornelius Ukena

great reactions, glad you guys enjoyed season 3! personally i think this is the best season, but i still like season 4 almost as much and it ties in much more into this season then previous ones which is also nice.

Martina

as for the poison. when Zaheer said "unless you can platinum bend..." I think he was referring to the cuffs, which were stated to be platinum. the poison was just said to be metallic, but we don't know which metal.

zdravko georgiev

Just some clarification. P'Li didn't just get her face covered, she bursted out that beam from her eye while her face was covered. Now you get hopefully what happened xD

>>160093090

That's actually a really nice theory re: who is able to lavabend, and it would actually make sense since that's what Bolin and Makko's parents are. It would definitely make the ability rare like metalbending.

poisonivybag
>>160097997

Yeah it was just the cuffs/chains that were platinum, the poison was metallic hence it could be bended out of her.

Naqib _

Guys, Pl'i did die in that moment. Her head was covered in a metal dome and an explosion went off inside. She literally had her head explode. I think you guys might have missed it because the show cut away from it immediately because of censorship reasons probably.

Amir Shipp

Sweet Summer Child Carlie, most women aren't able to survive their heads being sealed in a metal box containing an explosion that matches dragonfire. 😅

deny

things u missed: P'li was about to shoot but she got covered by metal, and she caant stop the blast meaning she blew her head off; Korra getting blasted by air wasnt bad animation it was the waves of the air; and bonus to answer ur bolin question. Benders are talented, some people can metal bend some people can lava bend, bolin was meant to lava bend thats why metal wasnt his thing, it doesnt matter how strong he is to unlock subbending, since many weak people metaal bend

Ben
>>160086305

Swampbending is an offshoot style of waterbending too that is similar to bloodbending but controls the water inside plant-life instead.

Graham
>>160088202

No but it did end with two mono-color regular sized people essentially doing a version of a beam struggle. And the Dragon Turtle giving Aang energy bending (and also his chi becoming unblocked) is no less contrived than Jinora showing up with Raava in a teapot. Which is to say not that contrived, but they are both essentially writer’s conveniences. I agree, season 2’s ending is probably the most faithful to the original feel of OG Avatar’s finale. Including both Aang and Korra initially getting kinda dogwalked and taking historic L’s before eventually triumphing.

RogueDrone

Lavabending can only happen when an earthbender has parents where one is a firebender and the other is an earthbender.

Kami Kazi

That smoke was from P'Li's head blowing up - loved this episode the fighting choreography was amazing 10/10

Actually this has not ever been confirmed, and I've read that it's been downright said as not the case by the show creators (although I've never seen the original source for this comment). It's far more likely that the reason Bolin can lava bend is due to his personality traits. Metal benders are almost like an amped version of earth benders, immovable objects in there personality traits. Bolin and arguably Ghazan seem to be pretty much the opposite, very chilled dudes but still talented Earth benders. The main counterpoint to this imo would be Suyin, cause she was pretty much a hippie for most of her life. But she's still Toph's daughter so she was probably metal bending straight out of the womb.

Jo
>>160138327

I dunno, there's some logic to having some fire bending ancestry or genetics. Earth is one thing but fission of or even kinetics of earth requires pretty specific understanding that may jump into the realm of fire bending. I'm just saying there may be some required level of understanding in order to combine these principles and I think you get that best with an Earthbender/Firebender fusion.

King Abu

The chains that binds Korra are Platinum which prevented her from bending it. The poison, on the other hand, is not, just regular liquid metal(probably Mercury).

Zhakai Wala

The wiki says that P’li and Ming Hua were both killed. P’li exploded in the metal, and Mako’s lighting was stronger cause of the water, killing Ming Hua as well. The poison was always metal, sort of like a mercury: liquid and deadly to humans. Jinora was able to see it being metal bended when she was in her spirit form. Platinum isn’t bendable but it’s only assumed through Korra’s own Avatar strength that she used it to pull Zaheer down. Also Zaheer flying past Korra was boosted by his airbending causing his body to have a powerful fly by impact. The scenes show air on around him, since his flying is airless, he’s actually floating.

Mitchell Scroggins

Correction- The only TRULY good thing about season 2 was Avatar Wan. Those 2 episodes were amazing. And season 3 tops season 1 pretty easily imo. Season 1 was great but the love triangle and them never explaining how amon could take bending away with blooding was what held it back. BTW season 3 had the original ATLA writers/creators involved, thats why it was so good. Season 4 also has them involved, season 1 and 2 did not have them

EwokBoy

Bolin can lava bend because his mom is from fire nation and their father is from earth nation. So he has both bloodlines. Unfortunately Mako didn't inherent the ability to lava bend. Mako can only fire bend.

Martin Beckerle
>>160176735

not at all sir. Lava bending is Only an Earth bending move because it's molten rock, not fire.

Martin Beckerle

I can't wait for you guys to see season 4. I know people don't like it, but I Think the ending is really good, and the message is really good for the times we are in today.

Mathies
>>160147353

ghazan buried himself in lava. surely hes dead too. also i think it litterally WAS mercury!

Bob Loblaw

I do wish they would have showed P'li blow up instead of the way they cut it where it's hard to tell for some folk

Nate Terry

P'li blew her head up. She fired her combustion just as Su encased her head in the armor. Lavabending is earth bending as you guys thought. Earth under great pressure. It was shown in ATLA a few times actually. Roku used it in the book1 temple episode when he inhabited Aang's body to save him from Zhao's men. He melted the temple. Then later in Book2 season premier, Roku teaches Aang he can't be killed in the avatar state or the line of succession will be broken. He explains the Avatar channels his power when their eyes glow. it shows several past avatars displaying awesome power, one being lava. and finally, Kyoshi uses Lavabending when she defeats Chin the Conqueror and breaks Kyoshi island off from the mainland. Since only Avatars were seen using Lavabending, it seemed a rare skill, which is why having Ghazan know Lavabending was a good story mark to show the red lotus is quite skilled. I'd imagine it's similar to when how firebenders have to be in the right frame of mind to lightning bend...or Waterbenders to bloodbend. state of mind kinda matters....which leads to Zaheer being in frame of mind to fly. a metalbender administered the poison per Zaheer's orders. Zaheer likely believed that once the poison was in and did damage that one couldn't simply pull the poison out.. I would say likely also, that the poison was mercury. it's a metal and under certain state is a liquid...we of course use mercury to measure temperature in our thermometers...

EwokBoy
>>160176735

How do you produce molten rock? You need rocks you need fire to melt the rocks hence molten rock...?

Mesa

' she just got her head covered that's all ' i'm glad you missed one of the more gruesome deaths in this show haha less haunting to think about it

SuddenImpulse
>>160421261

Media literacy is at an all time low. This show is designed for kids and young adults and still theres adults that can't read things in the show right lol

Simone

i know i'm super late to the discussion and ya'll probably already know this.. But Sue was able to get the poison out of Korra because it's metallic (most probably Mercury, since the actual side affects of mercury poisoning is similar to what Korra went through) i think u guys got confused when they kept mentioning that Korra couldn't bend platinum, they were referring to the chains, not the poison

Bryce Jones

Carli was a bit off her game these last two episodes lol. All love though.
