Comments

Aglio Olio

wow i'm here early for peak

JustRojo

I’m going to watch the saddest anime episode and cry first before I see this episode with you guys, I need bone dry eyes ready for this one

MihoKiryu

Carlie and Ange: "the saddest shit we've ever seen" Oda: "Hold my beer" 😂

Andhy thomas

Im sorry Ange i need you to cry more ( AND ACTION )

지원

Damn this is sad asf

Gavin fox

Someone clip Ange crying 😢 this is so rare bro 😂

beannie

5 likes and ill report sick to my boss just so i can watch this rn🙏 (im going insane)

bobadillio

had to skip to the discussion. i watched this fight once in the anime and genuinely can’t bring myself to ever rewatch cuz it makes me too depressed. esp considering luffy and usopp are one my favorites duos in the entire show :((

Carlie & Ange
>>164587443

The edited reaction will probably show how sad i got (with zooms etc) but i wouldnt doubt one piece making me cry my ass off. I believe you guys now 😆

Sonicluis

Truly a sad moment for ussop, he felt watch the millions of people watching thought. He was too weak to stay with the Strawhats. Everyone is always counting him out or that’s atleast how he feels in my opinion. But I truly believe this is where his journey to becoming one of my top 3 strawhats begins.

Krokus

"The saddest shit we've ever seen" ...so far.

llama

I agree with Carlie. I’ve seen a lot of One Piece fans take sides and bash the other character. Luffy has to make tough decisions as the captain but the way he bluntly breaks the news to Usopp sets him off. Usopp feels like if Luffy can let go of the Merry so easily, he might do the same to him one day 🥹💔.

Michael Kennedy

As an English major it's wild for me to admit that Oda has the best understanding of human emotion out of every author I've ever read. This is when One Piece really starts to emphasize that understanding alongside how well crafted each crew member is.

Sikk Karuzo

I think its the right decison to put the whole bounty into the chest. Seeing Ange like this - unexpected show of emotions here :D Good to see carlie took this both episodes well.

Kaiju Kes

I've been desperately waiting for y'all to make it here. This is where all the great relationship building Oda has done makes you realize the Straw Hats are family to you too, that you didn't appreciate what you had when you had it. It's a very human scene and we're all going through the stages of grief together.

Mob

PEAK

Which is tragic because Luffy was trying to bring the news as painlessly as possible. He wanted to keep Merry's condition a secret to don't hurt him and he was behaving in a light tone so they could move on from the sad situation. But it backfired.

Kaycee

Luffy crying will always be one of the saddest things I've had to witness.

Enea Nine
>>164589124

ahhahahaah THIS. I got the notification while at work and I just couldn't stop thinking about going home and watching these!!

SteMan23

To me Zoro would deserve a bounty for his speech at the end because he once more shows his support for and trust in Luffy. That was a great character moment.

Khoi Pham

Seeing how tough the decision to give out bounties in this episode, I suggest you guys do some kind of top 10 character moments/episodes for the Straw Hats once in a while. It would definitely make this episode memorable. I myself think of the Bounty as tribute to a Straw Hat who has big character moments that I feel more invested in them. In that case, giving the same to both Usopp and Luffy in this episode would not feel wrong.

S021

9:36 on my first watch through I hadn’t even thought about it like this. If by “his worth” you mean, all he has contributed so far. He really would be losing his biggest contribution to the straw hats. Well put

beannie
>>164589124

same😭 I only managed to watch the first 2 during my lunch break lmaooo, I’ll have to save this peak for tonight

Alpy

juju

I'm so happy to see Ange shed a tear. lol Like FINALLY. The toughest people I know cried because of One Piece. 😆 You really can't explain fully to non-watchers how great this show is unless they get into it themselves.

juju

One Piece is definitely a rollercoaster of emotions. you wouldn't expect that at such a serious time, Oda is still able to make you laugh and then cry in the next second or minute. Such a masterpiece

S021

Also, for the bounties. I feel like giving luffy and ussop majority of a bounty equally, and then split whatever else between the rest of the crew (minus robin) would be fair. I think that you could give bounties based on individual character development moments, but also, character relationship developments. Especially since it affected you both as much as it did

juju

I also love that your figurine collection is growing! 💯 It's gonna grow more and more lol

Jose Bruna

I’m really glad you guys pick up on Usopp’s feelings right away. Many people, including myself, didn’t tie Usopp’s anger to his feelings of self-worth on the first watch so I was just really angry at him for a bit.

Ben K.

KINDA SPOILER SO DONT READ CARLIE ANGE I kinda wish there was more conflict in the group like this tbh. Which was so hard to believe after all the time they spent together. This was one of my favorite episodes.

Matthew Marty
>>164613475

try not to talk about future episodes and DESCRIBE THINGS THAT HAPPEN. So weird, you might think you arent spoiling anything, yet there is no reason for you to say this. You could easily comment something else.

Mohamoud

Usopp deserves the whole bounty and the extra money in the chest, the fact he could even somewhat put a challenge to Luffy despite the injuries he already had and all the anxiety he naturally has is insane for him. His best moment since defending Luffy’s dream in Alabasta

Xan

Sorry I missed a few reactions what is happening with the bounties and what happened to fave characters for each of you?

Howell

That's a nice figure of Chopper! Definitely a memorable moment similar to this episode and this reaction where Ange finally broke haha!

Matthew Hunt Davies

Not the figure 😂. Everytime i see that chopper face, I can't help but think of the meme, which contains SPOILERS

Thomas Moseley

Yeah I agree I think Luffy should've tried easing Usopp into it instead of just saying they were getting a new ship. Also part of the reason Usopp reacted that strongly might be because Kaya gave them the ship who Usopp loves, or at least cares very strongly for.

RobinXZoro Addict

Oh boy.. this is one of the many episodes that will make you randomly tear up on a hard day 20 years from now when the memory of this episode hits you out of nowhere. Believe me, it happens to all of us.

Mikage

These episodes are always a tough watch. One good thing about One Piece's length is we've had 200+ episodes by this point to grow to love the characters, so seeing this hits hard. And this is just the start of the saga! Still lots more of Oda's excellent story-telling to come!

Alpy
>>164613475

ange already said the exact same thing in the video tho

Krokus

It felt heavy and that is the word Luffy used that got translated as "This is hard". Omoi. Heavy, the feeling of what is happening and the responsibility of being the captain in such moments.

Krokus
>>164613475

Consider what happens in the coming episodes, and think about the expectations that gives. Not that I can imagine telling you will do anything.

Alpy
>>164613475

what do you mean you cant imagine talking to me will not do anything, you dont even know me dude. i will delete the comment but you guys overreacted ngl.

Betty H

I'd vote for 1st place bounty split equally between Usopp and Luffy.

Evan Traxler

I really feel that Luffy and Usopp deserve equal bounty for their fight. I understand not wanting to, but this is a huge moment for both characters.

SoraNC

This is why I love watching reactors, and specifically you guys - seeing things in new lights just adds more life and love for a show I already adore. Ange has great intuition and Carlie brings so much heart, and the fact that you guys appreciate and vocalize your appreciation of the multiple character facets - makes it so enjoyable. With the bounties not being rewarded this episode - I don't mind it - trust your gut even if you don't know why.

Daemedeor

A big thing to consider, how early on in the arc you are. This scene is definitely …. a part of what makes it so all come together and if this alone makes you think it can tier up to the greatest highs, you will want to grab another tissue box.

Cerah Gemilang

38:36 the moment of silence and the moment after are just gold 😹😹😹😹

beannie

seeing carlie so unwell turned this rewatch into one of the toughest ones for me😭 like, it’s already hard but then I see her face and my heart breaks lol😭 on the other hand, we’re getting so close to ange crying, lets goooo🪂 lmaooo yeah, what carlie said perfectly sums up this situation for me, these two were so blinded by their pride during the whole fight, luffy being mad because usopp was trying to blame him for things that are out of his control so he couldn’t understand how usopp was actually feeling, and usopp trying to cover his insecurities by blaming others for things that are only happening on his head. It hurts like fkin hell seeing usopp lie to himself so much cause he can’t confront reality, he did it when his mom was sick and now he does it with the merry, him feeling like he’s never strong enough to protect his loved ones breaks my heart in a million pieces. and luffy realizing he failed as a captain… that is peak devastation for me, i literally can’t blame a 17 year old for being immature, but when zoro hits us with that bomb at the end of 236, I realized how the writing for this conflict is immaculate, straight up cinema, not only this part of the story works as a mirror that makes you reflect on this characters, get on their shoes and empathize with them, but it also works as a door where you can come into their world and experience this as if you’re part of it too(?), that’s something I felt personally on like my 4th rewatch of these eps (yeah I like to suffer), if it was only empathy I wouldn’t be sobbing my ass off, and that’s what makes me consider one piece a masterpiece just like you said ange, the human aspect of this show is one of my favorites in all media. and well that’s enough yapping for the day, jesus🪂 I even got cheesy and sht😔

Mob

I think ussop and luffy deserves bounties for what happened. Luffy learned to make tough decisions as a captain, and ussop "stood on business" for the first time. Both growing moments, despite it being against each other, made them improve as people.

Mob
>>164667838

but actually ussop made chopper cry so he should -500000000 bounty imo just saying kinda weird upsetting behaviour. chopper just a lil guy

지원

Carlie won't survive this series.

kaiho leung

Only Oda can made Usopp, a character being cool and lame at the same time😂 At least I wouldn’t find Usopp in JJK😂

BashaM

What an irony. Usopp’s best fight up to this point, where he shows he isn’t weak, that his strengths are different than the muscle ones, is against Luffy, one of the few people who has never thought of him as weak.

Alexander nilsson

"Only one thing is clear, things will get worse before they get better"

Benjamin Carbonell

First time watching a full length cause I just couldn't wait for this reaction. I tear up literally every time I watch through, but never THIS much on a rewatch. You two just had the realest most raw reaction to this I've seen in a while. This is just an introduction to what's to come. It's why we've been so excited to get to this arc. Its One Piece at its best. Excited to continue following your first voyage through the arc!

J

love the post ep discussion, you can really see how much passion you guys have for the show, your opinions and thoughts you got out of the ep is dissected really well. bounty decision was tough too, i thnk you guys made a good choice not giving it to anyone. One Piece hits with emotion like no other

Eric Greeson

Cried all over again rewatching this episode. Luffy losing the one other crewmate that matches his goofiness was tragic. It is also appropriate you describing this episode as "heavy" because I think that's the more accurate translation of what Luffy says to Zoro when he walks back to the ship after the fight. The weight of being the captain is probably at its heaviest here.

SoySauce

amazing reactions as always. You guys understood usopp really well.

Phaerroh

Not Carlie grabbing the Emotional Support Box (tm)!

Jay

We were excited because we’ve been thru the trama, and just wanted to see other people experience it too.🤣🤣🤣
