Keeping up with the Todorokis

Maya Coleman

Another episode of keeping up with the todoroki's we love to see it ❤️

The complaints about s5 come from the animation in the second half of the season, the Covid anime moments, basically. That, and they were working harder on the movies during this time too. It's also a very plot-heavy season, so the "shonen anime fans" (they watch for the fights) don't love it.

Just a minor correction as explained in previous seasons: All for One did not give his younger brother the "One for All" quirk. He thought his brother was quirkless so he gave him the quirk to "Stockpile Power" thinking that this will bring him to his side. After receiving this quirk, the younger brother realized that he already had a quirk in him, which is "the Ability to Transfer your quirk to someone else". With this, the younger brother now has two quirks: 1- "Transferring your quirk to someone else" 2- "Stockpiling Power" This combination became what is known as "One for All". That's why all the previous holders were able to transfer the power to the next generation until it reached Deku.

Pro tip, The Look, Boy! Isnt a Itadori look alike, its a Natsu from Fairy Tail look alike. They even have the same scarf. In the English dub, they even got the same voice Actor to do him! Todd Haberkorn.

Second half also has my favorite arc in the show so far, so can't wait to see them react to it!

Don't think about the vestige world too much. The more you do the less sense it makes. While the anime isn't realistic, a ghost dream dimension where you communicate with someone from a hundred years ago because you ate a piece of hair, is a bit out there even for MHA. It's largely just a plot device as you guys already figured out. It is a neat way to portray that kind of information though.

Nessa.

Hahahaha Ange your imitation of AFO's soundtrack was perfect !!!!

Tailon

Is it possible to upload the videos like before? like Streamable or YT? The video player from Patreon does not provide a manual video quality selector, and for some people the auto-quality adjustment does not work properly (that is, internet connection is fine, more than fast enough, yet the auto-quality fails to work correctly only on the Patreon player specifically). This extremely hinders the viewing experience for me :(

CosmoNeto140

Think of the Vestige world as a middle ground between ‘Paths’-AOT and the ‘Spirit world’-Avatar. 9 is most likely arbitrary number but it could be a reference to 9 being the numerological number of Altruism and Humanitarianism; or it could unlikely be even a direct reference to AOT. (For AOT it was to represent the 9 Nordic realms - that is obviously not the case here) The reason why this season is disliked is not due to writing, but adaptation, pacing, and cut content in the later half (they butchered one of the most anticipated arcs by rushing - despite a couple of sequences being peak even after that)

isn't that explained later on? Shouldn't they just watch to find that out? Isn't this like a huge spoiler?

No I believe that was heavily implied if not fully stated the first time they went over this info

Even though they told Hawks to get accepted with the League, he still sets everything up with Endeavour for Endeavour and not just because of the mission in episode 4x24. Like Dabi said, Hawks wasn't supposed to bring Endeavour, the No. 1 Hero, he was just supposed to bring some random guy. So Hawks set that up with Endeavour to get the public acceptance even knowing it would piss off the League which is now even more needed since Hawks probably knows how badly things could potentially go with the League. Personally, I think that's even more reason to give him MVP for 4x24 since he went against his mission (according to Dabi) in order to give Endeavour the platform and push he needed. I loved all the theorizing about the vestige world! Very excited to see your reactions to uncovering more of the lore. Also, I'm so happy you pointed out the different responses from the Todoroki's! It's one of my favourite parts of their storyline that each child is having a different response to the trauma they experienced. Fuyumi just wants things to be normal and to ignore everything, Natsuo is angry and can't move past it, while Shoto is cautious and wants to just wait and see what happens. It's such a small detail but a huge part of what makes this storyline so realistic and well handled to me. And Endeavour accepting all these different responses and trying to address each child's response shows such growth for his character.

The player does provide this, bud. Look at your screen. There's a gear. Click it and you'll see.

I really didn't mind this season at all. You get alot of context and lore of this world and characters, just making the connection and set up for the rest of the show's epic-ness even better!

@Chimpman While I haven't had the issue Tailon has, I don't have the gear on my player that you mentioned. I'm not sure why that is, but I'm guessing they don't have it either.

Always good to be on the lookout for spoilers, but in this case all of that information was explained in the show already so it's quite helpful to remind them of it.

ngl I actually liked the first half of season 5 more than the second half

Yam

Not sure if its spoiler but he can connect with that people cuz of the ADN thing, they say in the show later that the quirk its part of your ADN so your quirk can store your memories, look at it like the quirk its the soul of the people in that universe

Aizensalami
>>165129917

Everything I wrote was clearly and fully explained when All Might told Deku about the origin story in season 2.

Yam
>>165183332

Second half was better imo but first half is not that bad as some people say

Mesa

i think people are just a bit over exaggerating, season 4 and 5 are good anime seasons regardless, if you like the characters and the world you won't mind a more growth and lore focused season compared to big fights, glad we're continuing the journey!

Nigatsu
>>165142794

ADN is how we say DNA in Spanish, so yes, he was referring to that

GummyCalico

yea i live for hawks detective plot line and ofc the todorokis family drama. you guys got a good grasp of hawks mindset regarding this secret mission of his

GummyCalico

for a sec i thought aizawa was gonna give the cat the middle finger LMAO

J-or-Dan

So I think the case for Fuyumi and Rei is slightly different than I just want to be a happy family for them it feels more like I've recognized the damage you've done and have processed it and can see you are now trying to process it and will give you the grace to do so. While with Natsuo is in the space of we can't do anything until you feel all same angst that I am feeling

Tailon

@Chimpman @Eric H Indeed no gear here. Maybe Chimpman is using a different browser/device? (I'm on Google Chrome, running on Desktop, Windows) Other platforms and browsers may differ (such as using Chrome on mobile/Android, or Desktop Firefox, etc)

Solanum

We have a new unit of measurement boys, it took exactly one Ange "You BASTARD" for viewers to think that Hawks is a dirty traitor

Natsuo Todoroki

Honestly, I still kinda stand by what was said about Endeavor here. Especially since the world definitely won’t hold him accountable for the things he’s done right now. Also, Endeavor saying he wants to atone and all that might sit better with me if he didn't seem so keen on keeping his job. Like, I get that the world kinda needs a strong hero right now, but still, put your money where your mouth is and all that. Plus, we haven’t even gone into the full extent of what he’s done. On a different note though, how come Midoriya isn't wearing clothes in the ghost One for All world or whatever it is? 😅

Marley

the todoroki family storyline is the most interesting part of this entire show in my opinion

Marley

the part where dabi starts bleeding from under his eye, i'm pretty sure he is actually crying

Noboi

If Natsuo doesn't get an MVP for speaking the truth to Endeavor sometime then I riot lol
