That flashback was originally part of the My Villain Academia arc in season 5, one of the things that were cut. It was suppose to setup Spinner's arc with Shigaraki and introduce the outdated heteromorph discrimination in the setting. Happy it got adapted here but it should have been done last season. I'm still upset about how that arc was treated in the anime.

Mr.compress reasoning is really weird, his Great-great-grandfather was basically Robin Hood, taking from the corrupt rich and giving to the poor trying to change society for the better. Yet the idiot is out here claiming murdering millions of innocent people and just reducing the whole country to rubble for the rest to be ruled under an absolute dictator without morals is fulfilling what his Great-great-grandfather wanted. Like the other league members at least have actual reason for why they went down the path they did or have the excuse of being varying degrees of insane but his seeming motivation is just illogical.
