Simone

yes, this version is translated from the japanese one

Callum

Is this the exclusive patreon vid or u not done that yet?

ahmed

yup, the English one is directly translated from the JPN one, or I guess so... I know a good amount of Japanese words and I can tell it's the same topic in both versions

FTN Chicken

dang, that last verse gets me every time. Captures the emotions of Ai's last scene in the first episode perfectly

Flippnote

When it comes to the duality aspect, it’s thought that Ruby and Aqua are basically the two halves of AI. Ruby takes on her raw talent, hope and charisma. Aqua has her calculating nature and her drive and hunger for success. And of course this is reflected in them having one of each of her eyes.

it's the same singer,, the band name is Yoasobi, and they mostly released 2 version of their song, english and Japanese version... and yup, they were pretty big, and the vocalist is really good at speaking english too

yeah I'm quite impressed by her pronunciation. putting aside the comparison of the slight awkward rhymes compared between the Japanese and english version like Angie said, there's also a lot of wordplay in the Japanese lyrics that's kinda lost in translation for the English version especially for the last line of the song. the words "I love you" is a lot more rarer in Japanese culture and used in extremely special occasions. also, there's the wordplay between Ai's name and the Japanese phrase for "I love you". but still a really solid performance nonetheless as an official English version.

Saying the band name isn't gonna help in text form, they know how it's spelled, just hard to pronounce it.

Ohh, sorry my bad, english is not my first language so it's just my habit when typing in english i tend to explain the context a bit more ( i used too do this in case i'm using wrong translation) Sorry about it

Guys let’s unite and make them listen to yoasobi - into the night

adam

it's crazy how it's actually still sound the same even in english, some japanese reactors said that the translation isn't 100% correct but rather modified a bit so the pronounciation of the lyrics still sound the same

adam

fyi they also performed this song live just a few days ago, it's called "YOASOBI「アイドル」(Idol) from 『YOASOBI ARENA TOUR 2023 "電光石火"』2023.6.4@さいたまスーパーアリーナ" on youtube, it's EPIC

i know right, high level production + crazy atmosphere

TomNook

It is the same singer, she does English and Japanese versions of all her songs. There is a little bit of translation just so words match a bit better in English. Also you guys should react to the live version they did in their stadium tour they know how to put on a show.

Raijin

You should watch the behind the scenes of the music being made for Oshi no ko

John Pardue

If you're at all interested in hearing more great japanese songs that are translated and re-recorded by the original band but in english, the entire soundtrack to the film "Your Name" does this really well. The english version of that film has the same band RADWIMPS re-recording all their voiced tracks in english and they sound awesome
