We LOVED (and despised at times) this show! Thank you so much for suggesting it to us. It was a very elegantly written series with some beautiful music and animation. We will react to the movie(s). We are away this weekend but you can expect it next week!

86 will likely be replacing Violet Evergarden in September!

In defense of Diethard, the book sort of makes it clear that he's basically traumatised from meeting Violet. She brutally murdered his men, and the main reason he gave her to Gilbert was to try and get rid of her, because she frightened him so much. I always viewed his treatment of her as misplaced fear, and later on misplaced grief over the loss of his brother.

I could be reading this wrong but I’m pretty sure that Cattleya and Claudia are together. There was that scene a while back where Cattleya talks about saying “Claudia” in bed, so I would assume at this point Cattleya is pregnant with Claudia’s child.

Just little something that I heard from Light Novel readers. Cattleya and Benedict like each other but are being little tsundere about it. The anime doesn't show it properly.

I actually liked the first one much more. They did something in the second I particularly hate and you can imagine what that is. But the first half was really good and the show was amazing overall. I hadn't watched it when CA started it and planned to do at the same time but couldn't help binge-watching through everything before they were even close to ending the series 😅

I think you're reading it wrong. Claudia is always talking about how he would like to find a partner and have children in the future and Cattleya and Benedict clearly had something before and like each other. Cattleya even teases Benedict using Claudia in previous episodes, like when she jumped into Claudia's arms as soon as she spotted Benedict entering the room.

the movie, you need to watch Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll first, then the final one are the violet evergarden the movie.. also, if the next series are 86, then it will another tear again lol

Gosh, I love this show (and hate it). They got me to a point where even seeing the damn umbrella or hearing the marvellous theme gave me teary eyes... I haven't seen the movies yet, but I am gathering my emotional strengh to "survive" them! 😂 Thanks a lot for the great reactions. So happy I could make this journey with you! ❤️

This final shot drove everyone crazy :') One of the best and most beautiful anime. And definitely one of my favorite. Violet is such a great character. Violet Evergarden The Movie is the sequel of the series and the end of the story. Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll is a side-story. You have to add 2 masterpieces on your watch-list : Made In Abyss and Mushoku Tensei. Tough ones, but believe me you've never watched anything like those.

@KaijinGarou, I have a fair idea about what you are talking about but it is an anti-war drama in the end. What do people loose most during war time? When you ask yourself that question, maybe it might be enough to view the last movie in a new lens? Are you viewing it under the right lens or am I viewing it under the the wrong lens?

You guys have now been culturally enriched and well-seasoned as anime watchers, after experiencing such an astounding piece of the medium. From action to drama, mystery, comedy, experiencing Violet Evergarden is like finding that missing piece of the puzzle you didn't know you were missing until then. 86 is definitely a great choice to follow-up this series.
