Guys omg this is early- thank you so much ❤️

Jeremy Ocasio

option 3 lol I'm gonna do my best to use phonetics "Lee-brrr-oh" ('lee' like the name, 'brrr' like you're cold, 'oh' self explanatory)

le

Carlie, what you said about Hinata needing Kageyama to be this great is totally on the nose! Hinata being less reliant on Kageyama and gaining his own skill to make his partnership with Kageyama stronger and more formidable is a theme of the show. But, as you said, Kageyama didn’t mean it in a way that Hinata wasn’t great without him, he meant more to let him know what they have as a duo right now is stronger than a lot of the competition they would be up against.

Here is Karasuno's roster. Remember in Japanese you say the last name before the first name. 1st years - Hinata Shōyō (middle blocker), Kageyama Tobio(setter), Tsukishima Kei(Middle Blocker), Yamaguchi Tadashi(Bench Player, middle blocker). 2nd years - Tanaka Ryūnosuke(Wing Spiker), Nishinoya Yū(Libero) Ennoshita Chikara(bench player, substitute wing spiker) Kinoshita Hisashi(bench player, pinch server/wing spiker) Narita Kazuhito(Bench player, Middle Blocker) 3rd years - Sawamura Daichi(Team Capatain, Wing Spiker but focuses on serve receive), Sugawara Kōshi(Setter), Azumane Asahi(Wing Spiker. Considered the Ace),

Yes, Carlie noticed something about the show a little ahead of the curve. I promise the show will satisfy.

If you win the point, the same server serves again, until you lose the point and the serve goes to the other team. You could also see that when Oikawa was serving in episode 7. Libero can be pronounced in different ways. Europeans usually use option 1, while Americans use option 2. The origin of the word is European though so I prefer option 1 XD. You could try it in Japanese too :) imagine saying Ribery (the ex-football player), but change the last "ry" to "Ro" 🤣

bebe

the coach saying "how cruel" meaning kageyama and hinata meeting in high school is kinda late and if they have met earlier like in middle school, they would have been paired up since then because kageyama needed a spiker like hinata and hinata needed a setter like kageyama and those two would have been soaring high since then. That's why its cruel how their fate of not meeting earlier is.

noya

option 1 is close to how it should sound, c'mon Ange it's an Italian word, it should be easy for you 😂

Mimi

Loved the reaction. I was totally prepared to wait for the end of the week, so thank you :) Carlies thought concerning Hinata being dependent on Kageyama is very valid, he is pretty much a newbie and has a mountain of stuff to work on. But that's what i love so much about haiyku, it's a story about the characters learning and growing and training to get better. It takes its time, but that makes it feel all the more rewarding. Also i really like Anges "cog in the machine" metaphor, it's very fitting😁

Yamaguchi is technically (bench player, middle blocker) the other one is kind of a spoiler, but it's not really a big deal

tanzim haque

No way Ange already mentioned about “cog in the machine”. Impressive 👏

17:17 - Post nut clarity be like.... (Yes im going to leave this same comment any time there's a lingering scene of someone staring forlornly at their hand.)

Volleyball pros and pundits pronounce it all three ways. I don't think there's an objectively correct answer, funny enough. Ange can just go with the flow and he'll be right!

aubrey !!

Nooo !! Carlie what you were saying was really important! i really also think that the way kageyama can only bring hinata confidence by talking about himself is really not how it should be done. hinata wants to be great on his own, and with the way they're playing right now hes not able to do that !

i just saw this after writing out my own comment, im so glad she noticed it

Oh no, I was gonna say option 2 lol thats the way Sarah Pavan says it.... but also she could be pronouncing it wrong lol

Adriano Cabral
>>115918047

Here in Brazil we pronouce it like option one. Don't know if u guys in english say it different, but i've watched a lot of haikyu english reactions qnd this is first time i heard option 2. I just used google translate (english) to check the pronounciation and she speaks as in option 1 as well

Sammie

Hinata and Kageyama: a match made in heaven! ps: Carlie has a point though!!

Amrith
>>115878548

Yeah, Their entire offensive play with Hinata is lost if Kageyama gets subbed because of an injury. I am sure both Hinata and Suga will step up their standards to meet each other half-way, in case Kageyama is out for an entire game.

SilverWind

It's Lib-er-oh Ange, your option 1! And, by the way, "Libero" is also "free" in italian, that's where the name comes from! Also, you can tell that Nishinoya and Tanaka are second years by the fact that they get so flustered being called senpai since it's a new thing for them to have someone younger than them at school ahahah

baja

" how cruel" from the coach the way i read into it was that synergy is literally a match made in heaven. them meeting just now is a cruel twist of fate

ginabella
>>115918047

Yeah it seems like everyone agrees with option 1! Now I know better too haha~

River

You can ask ten people how libero is pronounced and get ten different answers, and everyone is sure their way is correct. Don't worry about that one too much lol. The show does do a good job of explaining volleyball, but it doesn't explain the mechanic of the rotation again: that one guy was serving a bunch in a row because the teams don't rotate off every point. They only do so when a point is scored off the opposing serve (ie the team that is not serving has to score a point, then they rotate and get to serve and the pattern repeats).
