Tonpa was the real mvp of this arc never get the hate for him he made the arc funny leorio was really the main reason they almost lost even tho tonpa surrendered he didnt waste anytime.

Speaking of back stories, in the manga, there's a volume 0 which is a prequel detailing the massacre of Kurapika's clan. I don't think it'll get adapted into anime any time soon so I think it'd be safe for you guys to read it or know more about it. It goes in excruciating detail about how his clan was massacred. It's not really a spoiler but I'll leave a spoiler warning if you don't wanna read it. (Spoiler Warning Even Though IT's Not Really A Spoiler) "Family members were sat down facing each other. They were stabbed multiple times and had their heads severed while still alive. Pure Kurta clan members had both eyes gouged out. The eyes of outsiders who married into the clan remained, but were squashed. They had sustained more brutal wounds than other members of the clan. The perpetrators mutilated the children more frequently and brutally in front of their parents in order to produce a more vivid scarlet color on their eyes"

I just like him bumping heads with Leorio it reminded me of a little brother messing with his older brother like I couldn’t take them seriously bc the kids were acting like more of adults then him and leorio

I find every minute Tonpa is onscreen to be a wasted minute of my life. He was my biggest irritation about this opening arc. I only found him amusing up to the point he served as a useful introduction to Killua (who was happily drinking his spiked juice). After that, I wanted him gone.
