Chapter 5: The Feast of Souls
Kurosaki Clinic - Night
The house was quiet, but Rukia was not.
She sat in her closet, the space far too small for the chaotic energy now swirling within her. Since the night with Naruto, and especially since witnessing his terrifying display of power during the Hollow fight, her soul felt like it was being pulled apart and re-stitched with wire.
The core of her being—the pure, controlled flow of the Kuchiki noble—was fighting against a violent, surging tide. The Hogyoku fragment, which Naruto had unconsciously stabilized by taking a piece into himself, was now reacting to his proximity, acting as a spiritual defibrillator. It wasn't giving her new powers; it was violently restoring her old ones, accelerating the process exponentially.
She raised her hand. Instead of the delicate, ice-pure blue of her former ability, the Reishi gathering in her palm was deep, almost black, like frozen storm water.
“You possess the power to rule the cold, Kuchiki-san. Do not waste it.”
She heard Naruto's voice in her memory—a low, husky command given during the height of their passion. He had commanded her to submit, and her Shinigami soul, despite itself, had partially obeyed.
Rukia slammed her fist against the wall, the wood cracking inward. She was stronger than she had any right to be. The Gigai, which should have been debilitating, was instead holding her spiritual pressure in, condensing it, forcing it to mature rapidly.
She had to see him. She had tried to reach out to the Soul Society, but the signal was blocked—or perhaps they simply hadn't noticed the rogue energy signature. Whatever the case, she was alone. She was a weapon in a sheath that was growing too tight.
Suddenly, the floor beneath her feet vibrated.
It wasn't an earthquake. It was Reiatsu.
Massive. And heading straight for Karakura Town.
Rukia frowned, pulling on clothes on her Gigai body. What could cause this much spiritual disturbance?
Then, she remembered the glare Uryu Ishida had given Naruto on the roof. She remembered Naruto’s low, confident prediction. “He’s going to challenge Ichigo to a contest. And when he does... he's going to attract a lot more than just one Hollow.”
"That fool!" Rukia snarled. "The Quincy arrogance will be the death of us all!"
She burst out of the closet and ran downstairs, spotting Ichigo already halfway out the door, his Substitute Shinigami badge glowing faintly.
"Ichigo! Wait!"
"Can't, Rukia! That pressure! It’s like a massive swarm!" Ichigo yelled, transforming in a flash of light. "I’ll handle it! You stay here!"
Rukia watched him leap away, the arrogant fool. She knew a swarm was bad, but the source felt targeted, deliberate.
She clenched her hands. The Hogyoku seed inside her demanded action. It wanted to be near its other half. It wanted conflict.
“If I am to survive this, I need to know what he is,” she thought, jumping out the window and heading toward the source of the chaos, her speed unnerving even in the cumbersome Gigai.
Karakura Town - Abandoned Industrial District
Uryu Ishida stood proudly atop a condemned warehouse, his form illuminated by the blue glare of the hundreds of Heilig Pfeil he had summoned. His face was a mask of cold determination, but his heart was pounding a frantic rhythm of fear and anticipation.
He had scattered Hollow Bait—Lure—across a two-mile radius, daring the spirit world to take notice. His goal was simple: prove to the world, and to himself, that the Quincy race was still the superior protector, regardless of Naruto Uzumaki’s monstrous pressure.
But he had miscalculated.
He had aimed for a swarm of lesser Hollows. Instead, he had drawn the attention of a Menos Grande.
It stood taller than the tallest skyscraper, a terrifying, black-robed behemoth with a pure white mask and an endless cavern of a mouth. Behind it, tearing through the rift in the sky, was the promised swarm—hundreds of lesser Hollows, screeching and clawing their way into the living world.
"Menos Grande..." Uryu whispered, his confidence evaporating. He was prepared for an army, not a god.
“THIS IS MY GAME, ISHIDA. YOU ARE A PIECE ON MY BOARD.”
A voice, low and resonant, vibrated in the air next to Uryu. He spun around, drawing a fresh bow, but saw nothing. It was Naruto’s voice, amplified by his Reiatsu.
Then, Naruto and Meninas materialized from the shadows directly behind him. Meninas, in her civilian clothes, looked bored. Naruto, however, looked ecstatic. He was wearing his Quincy Sternritter coat, though it had been subtly updated by his Hogyoku-granted desire—it was now a deep, shimmering violet-black, the fabric moving with a life of its own.
"Uzumaki!" Uryu roared, aiming his bow at Naruto. "You knew this would happen! Did you warn me just to watch me fail?"
"That's half right," Naruto replied, his violet-rimmed eyes gleaming in the dark. "I warned you so you wouldn't die before the fun started. You’re the bait, Ishida. Be thankful I’m here to collect the prize."
Meninas chuckled, folding her arms. "He’s such a helpful gentleman, isn't he? Now, move, little Quincy. The big ones are making a lot of noise."
Before Uryu could argue, Ichigo Kurosaki burst onto the scene, his massive Zanpakuto held high. He took one look at the Menos Grande and froze, his face a mix of terror and disbelief.
"Ichigo!" Rukia’s voice cut through the chaos as she arrived, still confined to her Gigai, but crackling with latent energy. "Don’t engage the Menos! Focus on the swarm!"
"Too late for that, Shinigami!" Naruto yelled, leaping off the warehouse roof toward the main target. "It’s been an hour since I felt this kind of raw spiritual density. This thing is mine!"
Meninas shook her head and jumped down to join the fight, landing with the force of a small asteroid that cracked the concrete beneath her. She wasted no time, closing the distance to the nearest group of forty Hollows in a blur.
"I hate cleaning up other people's messes," Meninas grumbled, but a feral smile spread across her face.
With Ichigo
Ichigo, fueled by anger and instinct, charged the Menos Grande. He swung his sword, aiming for the neck.
CRACK.
The Menos deflected the attack with a casual slap of its massive hand, sending Ichigo skidding back, tearing up the pavement.
Before the Menos could follow up, Naruto was already there. He had summoned his Hogyoku-Spear—a dense, spinning vortex of violet Reishi—and he slammed the blunt end into the Menos’s mask.
It was less an attack and more a statement. The Menos shrieked in pain, its mask cracking slightly.
“INTRUDER! YOU ARE NOT SHINIGAMI! YOU ARE NOT HOLLOW!” the Menos roared, its voice echoing with the agony of a thousand souls.
"I’m the evolved product, you overgrown fish," Naruto scoffed, pulling the spear back and instantly reforming it into a traditional Quincy bow. He didn't use the simple Heilig Pfeil.
"Desire Manifestation: Gritz und Eroberung (Grit and Conquest)!"
He fired a singular, massive arrow of condensed Reishi. It wasn't just energy; it was pure, violent intent given form. The arrow struck the Menos’s shoulder and didn't pierce the skin; it expanded again, twisting the spiritual matter inside, causing the Menos to shriek and buckle.
While the Menos was distracted, Ichigo roared and cleaved his Zanpakuto into the Menos's thigh. The Menos didn't fall, but it roared in pain.
"Now we're talking, Ichigo!" Naruto yelled, firing another Gritz und Eroberung at the creature's opposite leg.
With Meninas
Meninas McAllon was in her element. The Lesser Hollows were no match for her physically reinforced body.
The Aphrodisia mark on her abdomen pulsed, feeding her 'P' Schrift. Her attacks were not flashy; they were pure blunt force trauma. She didn't need to fire arrows or Kido. She simply ran through the formations.
CRUNCH! She slammed her fist into a Hollow’s mask, vaporizing its consciousness.
THWACK! She swept her leg, sending five Hollows soaring into a crumbling water tower.
"Pathetic," she muttered, dodging a claw swipe that pulverized the air behind her. "Where's the challenge? Where’s the fun?"
She landed a devastating roundhouse kick into a Garganta (portal) that had just opened, sending the unfortunate Hollow on the receiving end careening back into the spirit realm before the portal could close.
"Behind you!"
Rukia fired a stream of Jikkan (Time Constraint Kido) at a large, spider-like Hollow attempting to ambush Meninas. The Kido struck, paralyzing the Hollow for a brief moment.
Meninas looked over her shoulder, giving Rukia a tight, genuine smile. "Thanks, Shinigami. You're actually useful in your little doll suit."
Rukia grimaced but didn't correct her. She knew her Kido was amplified. The burst of power she had put into that Jikkan was far beyond her depleted state. The Hogyoku seed was rewriting her limits.
"Don't worry about me!" Rukia yelled, then turned to Uryu, who was desperately trying to keep the swarm at bay with his standard arrows, his energy depleting fast. "Ishida! Stop firing arrows! You're drawing too much attention! You'll kill yourself!"
"I cannot stop now!" Uryu shrieked, firing three arrows at once. "I must prove the Quincy superiority!"
Meninas shook her head. "Boys and their pride. It's always so messy."
She walked over to the nearest collapsed cement slab, put her shoulder under it, and lifted it like it weighed nothing.
"Look, little Quincy," Meninas called out, effortlessly tossing the five-ton slab onto a dozen approaching Hollows. "You’re running on fumes. Leave this to the professionals."
Meninas winked, before turning back to the fight, leaving Uryu gaping at her inhuman strength.
With Rukia
Rukia ignored the chaos erupting around Ichigo and the Menos. She focused on the desperate energy pouring off Uryu Ishida.
The arrogance of the Quincy... she thought, the disdain pure Kuchiki. But he is protecting this city. He is not malicious.
She saw an opportunity. The energy that had been locked away, the core of her Shinigami power, suddenly surged. The Gigai felt like it was tearing apart at the seams.
She focused on the connection to Naruto—the deep, violet, demanding energy that flowed between them. She didn't want him to dominate her soul; she wanted him to reinforce it.
I am a Kuchiki! I command the ice!
She channeled the torrent of Reiatsu. Instead of flowing into the air, it flowed into the Gigai’s badge, then into the atmosphere, coalescing around her like a protective cocoon.
The Gigai shattered, Rukia stood there, fully restored as a Shinigami, her black robes billowing in the sudden influx of power. But the familiar Reiatsu of her former state was overlaid with something dark and unsettling.
"Shikai!" she roared, grabbing the hilt of her Zanpakuto. "Sode no Shirayuki!"
The blade appeared, gleaming white, but the familiar delicate ribbons were absent. Instead, the blade was coated in a black, crystalline frost that radiated a cold that felt deeper than zero—it felt like the cold of death itself.
"Dance, Sode no Shirayuki!"
She swept her blade, not toward a Hollow, but toward the ground where Uryu was about to be overwhelmed. A crescent wave of black, razor-sharp ice erupted from the concrete, cleaving the attacking swarm in two and missing Uryu by mere inches.
Uryu looked up, shocked. The power was definitely Shinigami, but the cold felt... Off.
Rukia was panting, the exertion enormous, but she felt alive. She was whole, and she was stronger. Her Kido and Shikai were warped, infused with the dense energy of Naruto's.
"Naruto Uzumaki," she muttered, clutching her chest. "What have you done to me?"
With Naruto and Ichigo
The Menos Grande was furious. It was being assaulted by the two most bizarre creatures it had ever encountered: a Shinigami with the power of a giant sword, and a being whose power was a screaming, violet singularity.
Ichigo had finally grasped the rhythm of the fight. Naruto was acting as the distraction, the precise, overwhelming punch. Ichigo was the raw, brute force, constantly driving the Menos back.
"Take This!"
Ichigo launched the powerful attack. It struck the Menos in the center of its mask, tearing a huge gash in the ceramic.
“BASTARD! YOU WILL BE CONSUMED!”
The Menos began charging its ultimate attack: the Cero (Hollow Flash). A deep red light gathered in its mouth, threatening to vaporize the entire district.
Naruto knew this was the moment. The Menos, wounded and desperate, was channeling everything it had. This was the biggest spiritual energy payload on the field. The Hogyoku seed was throbbing with greed.
"Ichigo! Retreat! Now!" Naruto commanded.
Ichigo, driven by instinct, obeyed, pulling back rapidly.
Naruto didn't retreat. He stood his ground, letting the full pressure of the Cero build up. He raised his hand, gathering the Menos’s frantic Reishi as it was firing its attack.
"Aphrodisia Schrift: Absorption!"
He wasn't attacking. He was taking. His body flared with violet light as he formed a dome of compressed spiritual energy—a perfected form of the Quincy Sprenger—designed not to explode, but to draw in and contain.
The Cero was launched. The red beam struck Naruto’s violet dome.
The dome didn't break. It drank.
The energy of the Cero, the very intent and life force of the Menos Grande, was being funneled directly into Naruto Uzumaki.
Naruto let out a cry of primal ecstasy, the influx of power overwhelming him. He felt the Hollow's spiritual composition, the pain of the lost souls, the overwhelming despair—and the Hogyoku seed digested it instantly, translating it into pure, neutral energy.
"MORE!" Naruto screamed, his voice cracking with power. "GIVE ME MORE!"
The Menos, realizing its attack was being stolen, tried to stop, but it was too late. The Hogyoku-Sprenger was a vacuum. The beast’s body began to shrink, its spiritual mass dissolving and flowing toward Naruto.
The dome vanished. The Menos Grande stood before them, deflated, weak, and stripped of its will.
Naruto was panting, but the violet light surrounding him was blinding. He had absorbed its attack, and half of its spiritual volume.
"Finish it, Ichigo," Naruto commanded, exhausted but triumphant.
Ichigo, staring at the sheer absurdity of a human eating a Cero, snapped out of his shock and charged. With a final, furious cry, he cleaved his Zanpakuto straight through the Menos’s cracked mask.
The Menos Grande dissolved instantly, leaving behind nothing but the silence of the conquered.
The swarm of lesser Hollows, deprived of their leader, panicked and began retreating through the rift. Meninas, seeing her work was done, simply walked away, teleporting into a shadow.
Ichigo stared at Naruto, his chest heaving. "What... are you? That attack... you just ate it."
Naruto grinned, a tired, wolfish expression. "Let's just say I have a unique palate, Kurosaki. You should thank me. I saved your town."
He was about to teleport away when a blast of cold air struck him.
Rukia stood there, her black-frosted Zanpakuto pointed directly at his throat.
"You will answer me, Uzumaki," Rukia demanded, her violet eyes burning with a mixture of hatred and lust. "My powers. My Shikai. You took them and twisted them. Why?"
"Rukia, stop!" Ichigo yelled, stepping forward.
"Stay out of this, Ichigo!" Rukia hissed, the cold radiating off her powerful enough to form frost on the asphalt.
Naruto didn't flinch. He let the sword edge press against his skin, trusting his enhanced Blut Vene.
"I didn't steal them, Kuchiki," Naruto said, his voice dropping into a captivating murmur. "I evolved them. We have a connection now. A very deep one. Everything I gain, you share a fraction of the processing power. Everything you command, I feel the resonance."
He reached out, his hand glowing violet, and gently wrapped his fingers around her wrist, right where the pulse point was.
"You were dying, Rukia. That Gigai was killing your soul. I fixed you. I made you stronger, colder, and more powerful than you were before." He leaned in close. "You have a piece of my desire in you now. And you know what else that means."
Rukia trembled. She didn't want to admit it, but she knew what he meant. The surge of power was tied to the constant, magnetic need to be near him.
"You... you want to use me," she whispered, her resolve wavering.
"We use each other, Rukia," Naruto corrected, his thumb tracing the blue vein on her wrist. "Now, put the sword away. Your Captain needs you. I have another woman who is feeling neglected."
He winked, let go of her wrist, and vanished into a shadow—a technique he had just perfected by analyzing the Menos’s dimensional folding.
Rukia stood there, her power surging and receding. She felt anger, but underneath it, a terrifying realization: she had just unlocked a power she needed, and the key was the blonde delinquent.
Ichigo looked between the two spots where his mysterious ally and his frustrating friend had just been. He had no idea what was going on, but he knew one thing: his fight was far from over.
Uzumaki Residence - Meninas’s Room
Naruto reappeared inside his base, leaning against the wall of Meninas’s private quarters. He was exhausted. The absorption of the Cero and the Menos’s energy had nearly fried his system, but the growth was undeniable.
"You look like you've been run over by a train," Meninas observed, dropping her magazine. She was back in a simple cotton nightdress, looking innocent and soft—a dangerous illusion.
Meninas had exited the battlefield and gone back home after losing interest and was patiently waiting for Naruto to come back.
"I almost was," Naruto admitted, walking toward the bed and collapsing. "The Menos Grande put up a fight. But the Hogyoku loved it. I think I can use Shinigami-level Kido now."
Meninas crawled onto the bed, positioning herself over him. Her upside down 'A' Schrift mark on her belly was glowing brightly.
"You smell like Cero, Shinigami, and raw meat," she purred, straddling his waist and leaning in. "But underneath all of that, you smell overwhelmingly like conquest."
She began slowly rubbing her body against his. "I felt the powerful energy flow through you. It is intoxicating. It makes my heart pound."
"That was the Hogyoku is help me because stronger," Naruto said, his exhaustion fading as her energy warmed him. "We evolve together. You felt the gain."
"I felt the rush," Meninas countered, gripping his hips. "And now, I need the reward."
She lowered her mouth to his, kissing him with a fierce hunger that defied her sweet appearance. Her hands were strong, ripping his coat off and tossing it onto the floor.
"I want to feel the evolution, Naruto," she demanded, her voice thick with desire. "I want to feel the power you stole from the Menos being pumped into me. I want to feel the piece of the Hogyoku inside of you grow. I want to feel it all."
Naruto smiled, his hand gripping her hip.
"Your wish is my command, my beautiful Queen."
He flipped her beneath him, a powerful grin on his face. He had fought the Menos Grande and won. Now, it was time to collect the most important prize of all.
Fast Forward
Naruto lay exhausted but satisfied beside Meninas. The exhaustion was physical; the satisfaction was spiritual. The Hogyoku seed pulsed within his chest, having successfully integrated the vast spiritual power of the Menos Grande.
Meninas traced the lines of his body, her expression serene. The 'P' Schrift was stronger than ever.
"The Soul Society is going to send Captains soon," Meninas said quietly, her voice sounding far too calm for the prophecy she had just made. "They can't ignore a Menos Grande being vaporized and the Reiatsu signatures they must have picked up."
Naruto closed his eyes. "Let them come. I need the practice. I need the Shinigami power schematics. I need to know what a Captain feels like."
He knew exactly who he wanted to target first. A Captain whose power would be the ultimate test, and the ultimate reward.
"Meninas," Naruto murmured, pulling her close. "We're going to have to make a trip to the Soul Society eventually. But first..."
He opened his eyes, and a predatory glint appeared in them.
"...First, I think I need to have a very long conversation with Orihime Inoue. The Hogyoku is curious about what a Fullbringer's spiritual energy tastes like."
The game was escalating. And Naruto Uzumaki was ready to collect every prize.
