Chapter 7: The Altar of the Unseen God
House Batiatus - Ludus
The dust of the training pits had barely settled before the gossip began to spread through the ludus like wildfire through dry hay. In the cell blocks of the House of Batiatus, the air was thick with a new, suffocating kind of tension. Usually, the gladiators spoke of blood, of the next meal, or the next woman they might be allowed to fuck. Tonight, they spoke of the strange man called Naruto.
Varro sat on his stone bench, his head in his hands. His heart was a frantic bird against his ribs. "He asked their names," Varro whispered, his voice barely audible over the distant clanking of shackles. "For my wife. For my son. A man who stands above the Senate... and he knows the name of a gladiator’s son."
Crixus stood by the iron bars, his massive arms crossed. For the first time in years, the Undefeated Gaul looked unsure. "He spoke of the Arverni as if he walked among them. He did not speak like a scholar reading from a scroll. He spoke like a man remembering his past." He turned to look at Varro, his eyes wide. "He is not from Rome. I do not think he is even a man of this world, Varro. He makes the world feel... smaller. And yet, he makes us feel larger."
"He’s a monster in silk," Spartacus growled from the corner, his voice raw. He was leaning against the wall, his mind a whirlwind of Sura’s face and Naruto’s golden eyes. "He plays with us. He treats us like pets to see which one will bark the loudest. He has my wife, and he thinks a 'challenge' will satisfy the hole in my chest."
"You should be careful, brother," Varro warned, looking up with genuine fear. "You challenged a God in front of his people. And he didn't kill you. He entertained you. That is more terrifying than the cross. Who is he going to send against you? If he can summon shadows and move faster than the eye can follow... what chance do you have?"
Spartacus didn't answer. He only gripped his wooden training sword until his knuckles turned white. He didn't care what Naruto was. He only cared that Sura was behind a wall he couldn't climb, and he would tear the world down to get to her.
Uzumaki Villa
At the Uzumaki Villa, the evening was quiet until the sudden pop of displaced air signaled the return of the Shadow Clone. Sura, who had been sitting by the garden fountain, stood up abruptly. She saw the blonde figure, identical to the man who held her life in his hands, leading a dark-skinned girl draped in a transparent silken robe.
Sura’s heart sank. She recognized the girl from the reception's rumors, Dalia. She saw the gold chains, the way the girl moved with a dazed, almost religious fervor.
"Where is he?" Sura asked the clone, her voice trembling.
The clone didn't answer; it simply gestured for Dalia to enter the guest quarters before dissolving into a cloud of white smoke. Sura gasped, clutching her shawl. Every time she saw his magic, it felt like a slap to her reality.
An hour later, the gates opened. The real Naruto and Mira entered. Sura didn't wait. She rushed forward, her eyes searching Naruto’s face for any sign of the man her husband had described as a tyrant.
"My Lord," she breathed, "The reception... I heard... I heard voices. What happened to my husband? What has happened to Spartacus?"
Naruto stopped. His golden eyes drifted over her, and for a moment, Sura felt the sheer weight of his presence. He looked tired, not the fatigue of a man, but the weariness of a mountain that had been rained on for a thousand years. He realized she had asked about Spartacus before even greeting him.
Sura realized it too. She began to stammer. "I... I mean... forgive me, I..."
"He is fine, Sura," Naruto said, his voice soft, cutting through her panic. He stepped closer, his hand hovering near her cheek but not touching. "He is more than fine. He is possessed of a fire that most Romans would pay a fortune to possess. We have made an agreement."
"Agreement?" Sura’s breath hitched. "Regarding the Vulcanalia?"
"He has challenged me for you," Naruto said plainly. "He believes that by blood and iron, he can win you back. He believes that the sand will prove his love is greater than my 'lust,' as he calls it."
"And you accepted?" Sura was terrified. She knew the power Naruto held. She had seen him move. She had felt the heat of him. Her husband was a warrior, but Naruto was... something else.
"I have," Naruto replied. He looked at her with a gaze that felt like it was peeling back her skin to see her soul. "You may come to the games. You may watch your husband fight for the right to hold you again." He paused, a flicker of something human crossing his face. "After tonight... I can see how much you both love each other. It is... a rare thing."
He turned and walked toward his private chambers without another word. Sura stood frozen, her mind a mess of guilt and longing.
Mira stepped into her line of sight, her red hair glowing in the torchlight. The consort’s expression was unreadable, but her voice was sharp. "You think he is cruel, don't you?"
"I don't know what to think," Sura whispered.
"Dalia is in the guest room," Mira said, gesturing toward the interior. "The girl you saw earlier. She was a sex slave, a toy for the elite to break. Naruto didn't just buy her; he claimed her. He took her from the altar of her shame and brought her here."
Mira leaned in closer, her voice dropping. "If Spartacus wins, you return to the House of Batiatus. You return to being a slave. You return to the chains, to the cells, to the whim of a man like Quintus who would sell you for a bag of salt if the mood struck him. Here, in this house, you have never been a slave. Dalia will have her own room. She will be paid. She will be free to speak her mind. No one in this house is ever treated like property."
Mira looked Sura up and down. "You say you love your husband. I respect that loyalty. But think carefully, Thracian. Spartacus is also a slave. If you go back to him, you both belong to Batiatus. And Batiatus is a man. Naruto is a much more. Choose wisely which one you want to live in."
Later That Night
In the dead of night, the Uzumaki Villa was silent, save for the crickets and the distant rush of the sea. Naruto sat on his massive bed, his tunic discarded. The room was lit by a single candle that refused to flicker. Scattered across the silk sheets were scrolls, letters, and wax tablets, the weight of a Republic on his shoulders.
He picked up a letter from the Senate. It was perfumed and desperate.
“The frontiers are bleeding, Lord Uzumaki. The treasury is a hollow shell, and the legions grow restless. Rome calls for its Golden Son. Return to the front, and the Republic shall offer you whatever triumph you desire. Even Crassus speaks of your absence with a heavy heart.”
Naruto tossed the letter aside. The Senate was addicted. He had given them victories so fast, so clean, that they had forgotten how to fight a war of attrition. They wanted him to be their sword again so they could go back to their wine and their boys.
He thought of Crassus. The man was ambitious, a "self-made" titan in a city of old blood. Naruto respected that. But more importantly, Naruto thought of Lucius.
The boy was barely walking, his blonde hair a tiny beacon of the Maelstrom in the heart of Crassus’s household. Crassus believed the boy was his third-born son. He didn't know that Tertulla, his wife, had found in Naruto a fire that Crassus could never provide. Naruto closed his eyes, sensing the faint, distant hum of his own blood in the boy.
Crassus had lost interest in Tertulla, preferring the company of his slave Kore. It was a mirror of Naruto and Mira, but Crassus lacked the balance Naruto strove for. Naruto had sired Lucius, but he wondered if the boy would inherit his gift. So far, no one in this world had shown the ability to mold chakra.
I am alone, Naruto thought.
Even Kurama... the Great Fox was still there as a reservoir of power, but the consciousness, the snarky, ancient companion, was silent. The transition to this world had flattened the spirit into pure energy. Naruto was the last of his kind, surrounded by a society so primitive they thought a Shadow Clone was a demon. That isolation made him desperate. It made him "too loving," as Mira said. He held onto his women because they were the only things that made him feel tethered to the earth.
A soft jingle of gold interrupted his thoughts.
Naruto looked up. Standing in the doorway was Dalia. She wore a robe of see-through silk, the golden jewelry and chains from the reception still adorning her dark, mahogany skin. Her eyes were glazed with a look of absolute, terrifying devotion.
"Why are you not resting, Dalia?" Naruto asked. "The room provided... was it not enough?"
"The room is a wonderful, my Lord," she whispered, stepping into the light. "But I cannot rest. My skin burns where you touched it. My soul feels... marked."
She slowly let the robe slip from her shoulders. She stood naked, save for the gold. "Before the Romans came, I was being trained as a priestess. I was to be the vessel for my people’s god. But I was betrayed. Sold. I prayed to every god in the heavens to save me from the altar of Batiatus. None came. Only you."
She moved toward the bed, the gold jingling with every step. "You are not a man, Naruto. I felt the fire when you entered me. I felt the beast. I am yours. Not by laws of man, but by some much greater."
Naruto sighed. He had imprinted on her. During the "challenge" with Ilithyia watching, he had leaked too much chakra. He had turned this girl into a fanatic. He reached out, his hand wrapping around her throat, not to choke, but to pull her close.
"If you choose this, Dalia, it is your will. You are free."
"I am free only by your side," she gasped, her hands going to his waist.
Lemon Scene Ahead (Sura’s Voyeurism)
Sura couldn't sleep. The weight of Mira’s words and the fear for Spartacus drove her from her room. she needed to speak to Naruto again, to beg for mercy, to find some way to end this madness.
She approached the master chambers, her footsteps silent on the marble. But as she reached the heavy oak doors, she heard a sound that made her blood turn to ice and fire simultaneously.
It was the sound of Dalia. But she wasn't screaming in pain. She was wailing in a language of pure, unadulterated ecstasy.
Sura peeked through the crack in the door. The sight stole the breath from her lungs.
Naruto was on the bed, his back to the door. Dalia was beneath him, her legs resting on his shoulders as he thrust in and out of her wet pussy, her body arching violently from his every movement. Naruto’s thrusts were powerful, rhythmic, each thrust was accompanied by the heavy thud of flesh on flesh and the frantic jingle of Dalia’s gold.
Sura felt a heat rise in her core. She tried to think of Spartacus, to conjure the image of her husband, but the image wouldn't hold. Every time she closed her eyes, Spartacus’s face was replaced by Naruto’s golden hair and the tanned muscle of his back. She found her hand slipping beneath her tunic, her fingers finding the wetness between her thighs.
Then, she saw it.
From Naruto’s lower back, several plumes of orange-red energy began to manifest. They weren't just light; they became solid, furry, and massive. Tails. One, three, five... they swayed in the air like living serpents.
Dalia’s eyes went wide as the tails began to move independently. One tail wrapped around her waist, lifting her off the bed so Naruto could drive deeper. Another tail coiled around her throat, pulling her head back, while a third slithered between her breasts.
"GOD! MY GOD!" Dalia shrieked, her hands clawing at Naruto’s arms.
Sura gasped, falling back against the wall. The stories were true. He wasn't human. He was a beast. A divine, golden monster. The realization shattered her. She had been sleeping in the same house as a god of the old world.
"Do you see it now?"
Sura nearly jumped out of her skin. Mira was standing behind her, her arms crossed, watching the scene through the door with a calm, proprietary pride.
"The Lord in this state cannot be satisfied by one," Mira whispered, her voice husky. She began to disrobe, her eyes fixed on Naruto’s swaying tails. "The fire of the Fox is too much for the mortal frame to hold alone."
Inside the room, Naruto let out a low, guttural roar. One of his tails manifested a secondary tip that entered Dalia’s mouth, silencing her screams with a phallic mimicry of his own member, while he continued to pound her pussy and his tails explored her ass and thighs. The room was thick with the scent of sex and ancient, heavy chakra.
Naruto turned his head. His eyes weren't gold anymore; they were blood-red with slit pupils. He saw them. He saw Sura trembling in the hallway.
Sura met his gaze and felt a wave of pure, animalistic lust wash over her. She squirted into her hand, her body betraying her loyalty in a single, shivering moment. Terrified and ashamed, she turned and bolted for her room, her heart hammering against her ribs like a drum of war.
Mira watched her go, a smirk on her lips. "Sooner or later, little bird, you will fly into the flame."
Mira turned and walked into the room, letting her robe fall to the floor. A tail immediately snaked around her ankle, pulling her into the fray as Naruto turned his hunger toward his primary consort.
Lemon Scene End
As the sun rose over the Republic, the news of the "Divine Challenge" at the Vulcanalia spread like a fever.
In Rome:
Tertulla sat in her garden, watching her young son Lucius play with a wooden horse. Her heart ached with a sudden, sharp longing. She thought of Crassus, who was currently in the counting-room, and then she thought of Naruto. She remembered the way Naruto’s hands felt on her pregnant belly, the way he looked at her with a hunger that Crassus had long since traded for gold.
"He is in Capua," she whispered to herself. "Playing games with slaves." She looked at Lucius, the blonde hair, the unnatural strength the boy already showed. "Perhaps it is time we visited the south, my son."
In Sinuessa en Valle:
Laeta stood on her balcony, her hand resting on her stomach. She had just confirmed it with the midwife. She was pregnant. Her husband, Ennius, was a man of business, a man of grain and logistics. Their marriage was a cold thing.
But Naruto... she remembered their meeting two months ago. He had come to secure the supply lines for the southern legions. They had spoken of the treatment of slaves, of the dignity of the common man. He had love in her red hair, and she had seen something she had not seen in a long time in his eye, passion.
"It is yours, Naruto," she whispered into the wind. "A red-haired child for the Maelstrom. What will the Senate say when the Golden Son breeds with the grain-merchants?"
In the Senate:
The air was thick with debate. Glaber was fuming. "He mocks us! He stays in the south to play at being a Lanista while the frontiers crumble!"
"And yet," a senior Senator remarked, "if he wins this challenge, the people will worship him as a god incarnate. We cannot move against a man the people believe is Jupiter’s favorite. We must wait. We must see what he sends into the arena."
Marcus Licinius Crassus sat in his study, a letter from Naruto in his hand. He smiled. He didn't care if he was a god or the scandal. He cared about the power. If Naruto was his friend, Crassus was the most powerful man in the world. He looked at a bust (sculpture) of himself and then at a painting of Tertulla and Lucius.
"Let the boy see the games," Crassus mused. "Let him see what his 'Uncle' is capable of."
