I respect your interpretation, but I always thought she was very honest and respectful about how she felt when she turned Seong-hyeon down. In a single line, she just didn't like Seong-hyeon as much as she likes Du-sik, that's for sure. But she really did like him and Mi-seon knows it (which is why she was encouraging that relationship along the way). I think she didn't like that he saw her at her lowest because she has her pride. And sometimes, people value their pride over the person they like. The thing I really like about this drama is that all the characters (well, actually, I am furious at some in the end), aside from the predators of course, are very good people. They're not just decent, they are very nice, good people with pure hearts. Even the ones with weird quirks have no malice in them. And it's the same for parties involved in these love triangles. There is a level of respect among them that makes this whole thing very graceful.

Man, I had serious second lead syndrome here. I was more attracted to Seong-Hyeon than Du-Sik. 😅 I understand why Hye-Jin did what she did back in school too. She didn't want to get involved with him even though she liked him cuz she wasn't comfortable with her situation in life yet. It seemed like she didn't want to bring him down. And unlike what Ji Won did to Wookie in Love Struck, Hye Jin just played dumb and never made a move.
