I think Wang So's behavior is very realistic, everything he's gone through doesn't make the most mentally stable person. He has a dark side to him but he also clings to every act of kindness. Soo spreads kindness everywhere to everyone, it's no surprise he wants her. I so look forward to the next episodes!:D

Fun fact: The King/Grim Reaper from Goblin is one of the Prince in this drama. I can't tell you guys who yet, unless you guys remember the King's name from Goblin, then you'll know who it is. 😉 Both shows are fantasy but based on a real character. 😅

Danis

??? I know the names are very similar but not the same and their stories are vastly different,,,,, the king in goblin seems to be an amalgamation of different kings throughout goryeo not a specific prince that existed. (Kim Shin actually was modeled after someone that did exist and it can be argued that the king was modeled after the king of the same time period, but still not really.)

Seelia

It's supposed to be the same character, just different stories. It's like watching Tobey McGuire and Tom Holland both play Spiderman but in different universes. Plus, both dramas are fantasies so of course neither are accurate.

Danis

I'm genuinely curious. Where did it say that they were based on the same person? Moon Lovers is based on early stages of Goryeo dynasty. The Goblin and his king are from the late stages of Goryeo dynasty. Though Goblin's king is a fictionally made character, it has taken inspiration from the king of Kim Shin (Goblin)'s time. I'm not saying that these dramas are in any shape or form historically accurate, but the order of the kings in Moon Lovers are quite accurate (chronology-wise).

I can't copy wiki pages but someone added this info on that King's page. SPOILER: . . . . . . Look up Jeongjong, 3rd monarch of Goryeo and under "In Popular Culture" this is the list of actors who portrayed him in dramas/movies. Wiki is of course not Encyclopedia facts but it's there, and again, both are fantasy based on real characters so... Portrayed by Kim Young-chan in the 2000–2002 KBS1 TV series Taejo Wang Geon Portrayed by Choi Jae-sung in the 2002–2003 KBS TV series The Dawn of the Empire. Portrayed by Ryu Seung-soo in the 2015 MBC TV series Shine or Go Crazy. Portrayed by Hong Jong-hyun in the 2016 SBS TV series Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Portrayed by Lee Dong-wook in the 2016 tvN TV series Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.

Whether the info is accurate or not, both shows are fantasies and the writers have creative differences in what they chose this character to do. It doesn't look like the same character to me either but then again I've seen so many versions of Elvis Presley...😅 just can't take it seriously.

Danis

One is Yo and the other is Yeo. I cannot tell how different the names are regardless of how they sound similar to each other in English. I have no idea why they would say that in wiki (because it is SOOOOO reliable lol).

Seelia

Doesn't really matter how the show spells his name. Just a simple Google search asking if the Goblin King was based on #...Monarch still says yes. So again, writers adding in fantasy/fictional plots are not unheard of. What's so hard to believe, that a real person could be portrayed so different in 2 fantasy shows? They're just fictional work. 😅

Danis

Okay, last comment because this is just silly at this point going back and forth because you'll believe what you'll believe and that's not at all harmful or meaningful to me. (Gotta remember that for myself) Moon Lovers is a fantasy fiction based on real historical figures. Goblin is just fantasy fiction that decided to throw some Goryeo in there. Wang Yo existed in history, Wang Yeo did not. It's not about spelling names differently. Wang Yeo wasn't inspired by any specific Goryeo king. Wang Yo and Wang Yeo may both be from around similar times in their respective stories, but Korean people are mad angry at historical dramas that take it too far with bending historical facts too much (if you can't tell with this back and forth i'm having with you lol) and will never pretend that Yeo is a variation of the real Yo. So while both dramas are obviously fictional and they're both fantasies, they are different because one is based on people that actually existed and the other is fully made up (except maybe the inspo for the character kim shin). If that means no difference to you, then i don't know what we're talking about lol. If I'm using your Spider Man analogy, to me, this is like saying Batman and Iron Man are based on the same character for they both play the filthy rich resourceful guy in their respective groups. Hey, both fiction and fantasy, same difference, right?

Seelia

Aw...don't be mad. They're not real anyways. 😊

Thanks for clarifying it👍
