I know what this drama is missing. Beside there having no real grown ups except for Richard and her dad, the drama focuses too much on them as individuals. It doesn't move the plot, it doesn't give our couple any kind of small victories, it just shows them being beautiful and stylish. There's also the repetition of a known trauma between the royal family that we want explored but they keep showing us the same crap. I feel very frustrated and I'm glad there is only 2 more episodes left. If one of them dies, I'm gonna turn into a real hater. 😂

Sometimes i feel like korean writers and directors are unfamiliar with the 12ep format because it has been a 16ep format for the longest time. And thus they don't know how to pace the plot. As for the protocol with the abdication, the king orders abdication and the person is supposed to refuse 3 times. Since being king is not a job you retire from, kings are supposed to be kings until they die. And just gladly taking the crown just because the king said he'd give it to you is not what you do. That's like treason-level no-no. You could've been beheaded for that back in the day. As for the three times thing, three is a significant number culturally. Three times you try to convince someone of something. Three times you refuse before you say yes. Just enough times to be polite.
