Progress Report: Week of 2024/05/26 (Patreon)

(Meant to tell Patreon to schedule this post to release tomorrow, but I forgot to, so enjoy it early!)

Hello, all!  Time for another progress report.  I took a second day off this week for Memorial Day, but still managed to be very productive and make good progress on the Frieren video.  But what’s more exciting than that is that I found a new Weird Anime!  Details on that later, when I decide exactly when I’m releasing that video.  Probably after Undead Unluck, which is almost definitely going to win this poll.  Without further ado, here’s what I’ve been up to this week!

FRIEREN - BEYOND JOURNEY’S END:  This video has been giving me a bit of trouble!  Between the script and the audio, I’ve had to rewrite and rerecord a few different sections of the video.  But thankfully, it’s all coming together, now. I spent Tuesday writing and recording the script, then started editing audio and video on Wednesday. Since then, video editing has been progressing smoothly, and I'm currently about a third of the way done with it. You can expect a release next Sunday (June 9th), and probably with a few days of early access before then, depending on how fast I work. I am considering rerecording the audio, since the plosives are a bit harsh and the mic peaks in a few places. It's not super rough, but still noticeable, and if I have time I might try to fix it. It all depends on how I feel after the video editing is done.

ANIME CLUB: We had our anime club discussion on Hinamatsuri on Sunday, which was a great time! Along with the usual crew, we had our first appearance by Stars In a Jam Jar, adding quite a bit of much-needed life to the discussion. Looking forward to seeing more from them!

RESEARCH: In addition to keeping up with the good seasonals (my opinions haven't changed about Kaiju No. 8, Bartender, Jellyfish, or Astro Note), I went digging around the dark corners of the internet and found a new Weird Anime. This is more difficult than you might expect. Weird Anime videos require a very specific vibe. It's not just "shows that are strange." A Weird Anime makes you ask "Who was this for?" "Why was this made?" "What in the world did I just watch?" And I'm happy to say that The Anime Where a Fart Learns to Love asks all those questions and answers none. Look forward to that whenever I decide to make it.

And that seems like it, folks! Hope you enjoy the Frieren video, and I'll see you all next week!
