Hi everyone!

Everyone in the UK, EU and U.S. can now pledge our Patreon in their local currency of Euros (€), British Pounds (£) or U.S. Dollars ($). This will help prevent you paying extra conversion fees from your bank or card when pledging in a currency that’s not your own.

Any new visitors to our page will see my tiers priced in their local currency of €, £, or $. For those of you who would like to switch your preferred currency you can follow these steps:

1. On Patreon.com, hover over your avatar in the top right of your screen. Click Manage memberships.

2. Find this page, and click Edit.

3. Under Currency, choose your preferred currency.

4. Click Update to save your settings.

For those of you outside of these currencies, you’ll continue to see your pledge priced in our currency.

Check out this help center article if you have other questions about changing your currency.

Thanks for the info. Relatedly, Patreon charges me 21% VAT for my pledge [NL], which feels unfair as I'm not buying the product 'dear Hank & John', but donating to you / Complexly / PIH. Is there a way for you to mark in Patreon that you do not give me something of value in return, and are therefore VAT exempt? It feels odd to help support creators and paying about ~$60 a year in VAT extra to Patreon/Belastingdienst for that.

Dear Hank and John

Good question. Unfortunately, we don’t have control on our end over how VAT is applied. Patreon handles charging VAT for patrons in the EU, and has been doing so since 2015 when the laws changed in the EU regarding “digital marketplaces.” Since Patreon offers digital perks in exchange for pledges, it apparently counts as a 'digital marketplace.'
