While I can agree that there are feral cows, one of these cows clearly has a tag in its ear! Does that mean it has an owner (which might mean it's not feral) or was it a wild cow tagged by the local DNR in order to track the feral cow population?

While working in West Texas' oil patch as a Geologist, I often found myself in the middle of huge ranches that leased land for drilling. Sometimes I would have to drive for 3-4 hours to get to the site, so I'd arrive early. On those days, I started watching the cows. I was seriously surprised at how... social and alive they are. Even before making my way out there, I was vegetarian. I'd still sneak a burger a few times a year, though. But, after watching the calves playing and the adult cows herding them away from my truck, I really found myself in a position where I either had to face up to my cognitive dissonance or to continue to live with that. Cows are really cool and I've been without a cheat burger for 2 years now because they deserve it.
