Every time I see someone wearing a Steven Universe shirt, I think for a moment that it's a Homestar Runner shirt. Perhaps it's because I'm old.

No! I love Steven Universe and that is the first thing I'd think the shirt referenced. It would be a shame to sully its accuracy with puffy paint (and render it less useful should you wish to cosplay Steven or Stevonnie). If you really want to add a note to the shirt, maybe you could wear something removable, like a "This is not a Hardee's or Carl's Jr shirt" button?
