Practical Necromancy

I haven't played Disco Elysium - haven't consumed anything around it. So your opening was just... deeply affective. Brilliantly so. This was beautiful.

I played Disco last year and it was one of my most moving experiences https://morepablo.com/2024/07/disco-elysium.html Your opening reminds me of a core thesis I have of the game's politics: capitalism won the Cold War, but now what? All the social problems Communism was a response to still exist, except this time we've had a century of conflict trying to enable it, and now capital has hardened, like our bodies after the first COVID shot. I like where you took this, too. It's a shame what happened, and I agree it's a miracle the game was even made and widely released at all.

oooh, I'ma throw your post into the research list :D

I'ma radicalize you sooner or later, PixelatedStacks

Gah, the IP situation (of which I am only partially informed) is the worst! I've only just started playing the game. Had owned it for a while, but what finally got me to start it was a genuinely fantastic DE fanfic. (If anyone's interested, look for 'The Case of the Man Who Two-Thirds Wasn't There' by glisteningceruleaneyes.)

Playing the game and just taking is as a game, so the themes can grow in your mind, is probably the best you can do to help you truly enjoy it.

Still, this theme will probably be stuck in your head for a while if you do play it.
