Nate Ford

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Thank you for everything you've done. You've poured your soul into this community, and I think we can all tell how much you've given to the world. This too shall pass. Best of luck - But also I would like to keep giving, so please leave your Patreon open, or let us know if there is another way for us to give more back to you.

Daniel Osswald Claro

Please leave the Patreon open. It would mean a lot to know my money is still going to someone who has given me so much.

Kara Loraine

Hey, do whatever you need to do, but why not have a fundraiser regardless? Just a stream type thing? I think people would appreciate the chance to show some support even if it’s a send off. I know it’s probably annoying to have to do that rather than just have people sub and avoid the issue, but seems like it makes a difference for there to be an ‘event’ of some kind. Anyhoo, your insights have always been top tier and I’m glad to have had the chance to see what you’ve produced so far, but you don’t owe the internet anything- look after yourself

Nate Ford

Agreed! I hope he leaves it up

Nate Ford

Do you only have a 1$ tier on Patreon? Please add a higher tier option, I'd love the option to contribute more...

Alex Kump

No sorries needed. ❤️

Rob Bos

I went to bump up my membership, but dude. Add higher tiers.

Nate Ford

I just commented the same thing! I'm a $5 tier easy, minimum

Xudos

So much of leftist content online are huge multi hour video essays. And as much as I love those, your incredibly focused poignant videos are still those that most clearly stick in my mind. I still have my "Rubicon" written on a whiteboard in my apartment, thanks to you. I'm trying to get into local politics thanks to the very same video. I hope you land on your feet soon, and find a way to do what you want. Id LOVE to see a DE video from you some day. Until then, peace!

Xudos

You can do custom amounts on your end, I did that

Tales from the jar side

This is sad, but not unexpected. As you say, you've been preparing your Patreon supporters about this for a while. I'm happy to continue to support you here even if you're not able to produce anything for a while. I hope your "break" will help you heal, and that a great opportunity will find you soon.

Dr. Mäuschen

Your work has enriched my life. Keep your patreon open and keep moving forward. We are here for you.

Rob Bos

Or even a per-video tier.

Nate Ford

I was looking and didn't see that as an option, but I'm also dumb. I'll go check again. Also Gofundme link is on the YouTube channel

Lomky

Upped my support. I'm not here to pay for content, I'm here hoping to help creators live a good life.

Nate Ford

Confirmed, has to be desktop or mobile site, can't be the app You can do custom tiers on desktop I think. Verifying now

Daniel Walsh

I agree with everyone here. Please keep the patreon up if possible. I'm not missing the money I pay each month

Lomky

A lot of things go into making a person who they are, and I won't undervalue the input of my friends, community, and my own work. But in the realm of creators, you have had a huge impact on how I move through this world. Any activism I take part in, some of the credit belongs to you. Thank you for your work.

Nate Ford

Has to be through desktop or online mobile, not the app, if anyone else is curious

Comrade Olive

you can manually set the amount you're paying on the app too, the minimum is $1 but i'm paying $5

Brolafsky

I just joined. I've been watching your videos for a few years. I don't care if you don't make a video for a while, or even a year. Take your time. Take care of yourself and your family first. We'll be here.

Nate Ford

Weird, idk why I can't find it. I just bumped up to $5, and donated to the Gofundme

A Quiet Guy

I'm sorry, Ian. Years ago I was in a similar situation, and it took a lot to dig myself out to where I am now. Obviously you have been through some aspect or degree of this before. But I'm just sorry you have to go through it again. I wish you well no matter what may come. And I absolutely will back a GoFundMe, and stay here. Take care of yourself and yours. That is, in the end, what matters most.

Morgan Grobol

thank you Ian, i too hope we see each other soon, my subscription will stay as long as you keep the patreon open, no matter what. lots of love

Good @ Games

New member! I've gotten years of value from your videos. It's time to pay it back. I'll ride this out for as long as it's still open, and if/when you launch that fundraiser you mentioned, I'll be there.

elfbarwarrior

Whatever happens, thanks for sharing your amazing content!!

Chelsey Collins

Don't be sorry! We're happy you're taking care of yourself. I still regularly go back and watch tons of your videos, you're still here. We appreciate everything you've done.

Richard Keegan

Thought hard about how much value the ARP series (among others) has given me over all my watches and rewatches. Came to Patreon to check how much I support and bump it up to better reflect that value if needed. Discovered I hadn't been following you all this time. Whoops. Genuinely thought I had :|. Fixed now. Hope it helps a little

John Christoph

The note about your collaborative dynamic with Willow really resonates. I've recently found that having coauthors who find intuitive the parts of projects I find hard is *such* a game-changer for my own productivity. If that means the Adventure Game Tier List is the last thing Innuendo Studios uploads to YouTube, or that any scenario where you make more stuff in future involves leaning into that kind of coauthorship, either way that counts as a success, not a failure. Also, don't sell yourself short: idk how 10 years of content creation looks on a CV, but 10 years as an acclaimed media analyst & researcher of policial extremism? That's impressive, Ian! You've done good work!

Ultraczar

I give to you unconditionally, man. All the best for you and your family in these tough times. I'm sure we as a community will do our best to rally around you with finances, love, and empathy. Take care. And poly solidarity. ✊

Robin McDonald

Genuinely thought you were a part-time educator, not a full time YouTuber. All be it from me to lecture anyone, but I would have helped sooner had I known! Make sure to advertise yourself in future, marketing is part of the game. I hope new members and the GoFundme, which by the looks of things should be fully paid off by tomorrow or in a few days, will help you continue this career in to the future. Please don't beat yourself up, but you are way too valuable a creator to be forced to stop (unless it's your choice.)

Matthew Palmer

Thank you for all of your important work over the years, and I'm grateful to have the oppertunity to support you through the Patreon as long as you need it.

Peter Herbert

Just joined the patreon. Didn't realize how bad things were for you and I don't want to see you go away. God, you've been such a force for good on YouTube. I hope that my contributions here and on the GoFundMe, if they can't save the channel, then can at least start paying you back for the good you've done in my life. Thank you Ian.

Good @ Games

Brilliant! Thank you! I was definitely listening to the video in the background, so didn't catch this.

Jack Deeth

I pruned my Patreon subscriptions a couple of weeks back but kept this one active - glad I did and I won't be changing that any time soon! Good luck pal

UwUwizard

Hi Ian, just saw the news about your situation so I joined here hoping it'd help out at least a little. Thank you for such an incredible influence you've made on the discourse, the video essay as an art form, and me personally. I go back and watch your Daria COVID video all the time because it's such a comfy video and articulates my feelings from childhood so well, I even taped it to VHS with some other favourite media so I can watch from my bed when I'm having a bipolar depression spiral. As much as I'd selfishly love for you to return to making essays, I really really hope that this difficult decision helps you to facilitate your own life outside of the commodification of the self, and find joy and community and a future of potential hitherto unimaginable until traversed. Please take care of yourself. Solidarity <3

UwUwizard

thanks for sharing this!

Nate Ford

Incredible turnout from the Innuendo community in just a couple of hours. It's really amazing to see how much of an impact his content had with so many people

Practical Necromancy

Thinking about you - you've been such an inspiration to me, both as an amazing intellectual and fabulous artist. I'm here in Patreon for as long as the lights are turned on... The Who Shot Guybrush Threepwood series has been life changing, frankly, for how I think about user experience and engagement in physical spaces. Honestly, my professional career at the National Park Service wouldn't have been what it was without that inspiration. I would bet there dozens, hundreds, thousands who can say the same about your work. I know that doesn't stave off the debt collectors, but it's amazing achievement and what society SHOULD judge us on.

MadManMax

I have loved your content for years, you taught me a lot of the rhetoric I believe and have elaborated on. I hope your situation gets better and I'll support you as long as I can. You got this, king 🫡

Elliot Berry

Hey mate, it's all good. Do what's best for you.

Dirk Netter

Dear Ian, i just seen your video and joined your patreon just now. Thank you for your work. You might not realize right now how much it impacted the lives of several people all over the world. when i've seen your first videos, i still was in university. the alt right playbook was one of the crucial points that influenced my phd-project and my work in political education very profoundly. i can not offer much - but i sincerely hope that you can figure something out to carry on your work! even the world seems a lot darker than 11 years ago - all is not lost! the world needs content like yours. thank you for all your videos and your work! i wish you all the best and send warm greetings from germany.

David Wood

Take care of yourself, good luck with the future, and thank you for your content

Robotato

I am ashamed I've never thought about joining your Patreon for all the years I've been watching you, making it up a little bit by gladly paying to your Patreon for as long as it's up. Here's hoping everything gets sorted for you and if we're all lucky enough we will see a return of Innuendo Studios at some point <3

Gwendolyn

I hope the gofundme is able to get you onto solid footing. You've done a lot for so many people. We're just returning the favor however we can.

PC Escobar

Ian, the only thing you should be saying 'sorry' for is not asking for help sooner. I never doubted that the community would respond and the GoFundMe just confirms it. The GoFundMe moved 4 more points towards your goal, just in the time it took me to enter my own donation. Better get those stretch-goals ready, because 100% is within reach.

highclass_lady

Your Alt Right Playbook videos, your Gamergate video, Endnotes, & Why Are You So Angry videos are incredible, thank you so much for your work! On another note, I know that people feel frustrated with the frequency & quantity of ads they encounter in modern life, but I think you turning off ads on your channel would not marginally make any significant difference to that or dent in terms of impact in people's lives but would be at a cost disproportionate to you & that would make some impact on your finances that I don't think would be worth it. Even if the amount being generated is currently not a lot, depriving yourself of the bit that could be had from ads seems like unnecessary self-flagellation. Changing or even challenging a capitalist system is not going to happen by denying artists their right to earn & eat. Sitting through an ad or 2 is the least that can be done. Any "harm" that may be incurred by leaving ads on is hypothetical at this point. Plus I will add that leaving on ads for your channel provides a small way for viewers to support you even if they cannot currently afford to donate or contribute financially.

Sethur

Just wanted to offer a few words of support... First of all, I'll continue to support you here on patreon as long as you don't shut it all down. It's not much, but I can do THAT much, at least. Second: Thank you. Don't be sorry, you did the best you could and sometimes, that doesn't work out (immediately/how we want). No reason to be ashamed. Can't speak for everyone here, but when I joined, I wanted to support what you do. Whatever the outcome. I didn't pay you for a project, so no reason to think that you "didn't deliver" or something - I am happy that I was (and am) able to help at least a little bit. Third: Just so you know, I started my own Bingo-Board last month. :D It has "only" 16 squares, but some of the stuff there is quite ambitious for me. So: Thank you for giving me that idea, thank you for helping me to move forward with my goals. Fourth: A lot has been said already about your essays. I don't have that much to add, so I'll just reiterate: You did really awesome work with your channel and you influenced my view of the world and current politics quite a bit. For that as well you have my thanks. Whatever else comes next for you: Take care and best of luck!

Hank Pan

Hey Ian, your videos have been monumentally influential to me and I'm thankful of all the work you've done. The students you spoke to at UC Merced were so enthused after your talk as well and it spurred on a good deal of conversation. I wish you only good things in the future.

Annie

Please please don’t shut down the Patreon! I know I don’t pay much, but I *want* to keep paying it, even if it is only ever a thank you. Call it royalties for past work

pppppppppp

I just joined as a paid member. (whoop)

pppppppppp

favorite video is the mad max one

Musicombo

Look at how many lives you've changed for the better. Everything going on with your GoFundMe? You deserve it all. ❤️

Nicky van Klaveren

Your videos are so amazing, detailed, and helped so many people. I've watched a lot of them multiple times over the years, because they are just that good. I was kinda surprised that I had never signed up to your Patreon, so I did now and donated to you gofundme as a belated thank you, regardless of what you decide to do next. You got this 💪 I'm also very happy to see the response of the whole community ❤

Robin McDonald

Man, I have to say this whole thing has been making me feel incredibly emotional. I felt despair when I saw that notification in my YouTube inbox, and watched this video 20 minutes after it was posted thinking this was the end. I've been refreshing the GoFundme regularly and can't help but tear up at the feeling that so many other people feel the way I do about your videos. I can't imagine how overwhelmed you must feel, and I'm so glad that so many others agree on his important your content is. Your education is not only important, though, it has changed the way I think, about so many things. I may not watch your videos every day, but they have had a greater impact on me than I can even really express. I started watching Smash Bros comps and entered a few because of you, I am able to recognise arguments and the mindset behind them because of you, I've recommended your videos to so many friends and frequently agreed that you're one of the best leftist creators out there, and I could go on, but it would take too long. You've contributed more to my way of thinking than most of my school teachers and you deserve every cent, and for this to be your career. I'm so glad people have showed up for you.

Drekisdottir

I was sad when I saw your first announcement, but after watching this I'm just so sad to hear the toll this has taken. All I can say is thank you for all your work over the years, you've been my favourite youtuber for years, and you've really helped me develop how I understand the world, so thank you for that. I hope you achieve some form of financial stability, whatever that ends up looking like that is best for you. All the best <3

Ultraczar

Hell yeah dude, donating to the GoFundMe to get you a WAR CHEST of savings so you can work through dry spells. I hope you exceed your goal by a huge margin so you know this is sustainable. You've helped so many people, man. I know shit feels hopeless with the current political climate but we folks gotta stick together to get through it. And you have helped a lot of us through it with what you do. So please, don't stop believing. This? Hold on to that feeeelaiaaain.

Eris

Donated on the GoFundMe, I've been here on your patreon for years, what's 5 months all at once? Innuendo Studios has been my favorite channel, and I'm sad to see it go, and am hopeful you can continue it in some capacity. Take care of yourself first, though, your work's been an inspiration, but I'd prefer for your life to be fulfilling and enriching first and foremost.

Vesko

Add more patreon levels you coward! Don't add anything to them just a larger amount to donate for those that can.

Bryan Mills

Dude, this sounds exhausting! I'm so sorry you've been struggling with this for so long, especially the downturn in support since Covid. I hope this financial boon gives you a chance to take a break & recover, recenter. We humans do our best work when we get the space we need to just be ourselves, not constantly focused on the next project or the next paycheck. Please don't take these gifts as reason to jump right back into videos. It's for the work you're done and the lives you've shaped and changed, not some weird responsibility to hang over you! Peace to you

TheGirlFromTheFourthPlanet

Your videos are so great. The alt-right playbook has helped me a lot to identify discourses that I saw online and were so hurtful and recognize them as the bad-faith tricks they are. I just joined your Patreon and donated to your GoFundMe, because what you do is important, and I wish I had joined earlier, but late is better than never. Wish you the best, rest and take care.

Prisca

take my money, take care of yourself and take your time. just subbed and donated. stay safe. you're a hero.

Samuel Regan-Edwards

Hi Ian, your fundraiser has reached its goal. Huge congratulations to you !

em v.

As many other have said, take whatever time you need, even if that's forever. You've already done so much.

Thomas Koeppe

Does anyone have a link to the gofundme?

Anton Timmermans

Hey Ian, I know you are not in the mood for this right now, but: 1. I LOVE your work 2. You MUST start treating it like the business that it is. You cannot eat art You have given me so many insights. If you ever want to talk to someone freely to help figure stuff out feel free to reach me at anton@24letters.com. I am aware it is weird that I try to break the audience->creator barrier. And maybe I just have a too strong parasocial feeling right now. But as a fellow (starting) entrepreneur I know hoe hard it is to blow live into something. My (free) (unasked for) advice would be: - Keep ads turned on, any money helps you right now - You need to get a super sharp and clear financial picture. This is probably too stressful right now, so let someone help you - Given the amount of people that just joined Patreon, marketing it hasn’t been done enough - In no circumstances put “content creator” on your resume. PUT: Script writer, editor, animator, voice actor. Because that was what it actually entails. You have marketable and economically viable skills. You are (obviously) free to not want to do any of this. And it sucks that there is no basic income, but maybe this (sharp comment) helps you in some small way. With love from a passionate audience member, Anton

Tristfall

Ian, I know this sucks, and hearing that we all care for you in a somewhat distant parasocial way probably doesn't help a lot, but we do anyway, and I for one will be here when you get back. And I hope things work out, whatever they are. You're a smart guy, and I'm pretty sure you'll find a way to be paid (less than your worth, but hopefully more than you need to survive) for it. I for one, hope you get into academia. You strike me as getting along with a lot of my professor / teacher friends.

Charlotte

I'm so glad the GoFundMe is already going so well, and you deserve every frigging cent it raises for the work you've done.

Tristfall

Oh yeah, for sure. I hate that this is how our society works, but I'll take it for the blessing it is when it works, and in this case, it looks like it's hitting the mark.

Dae Knight

Just joined the patreon. Want to be clear that whatever you do next I consider this indefinite payment for services already rendered. <3 Do whatever you need to be secure & comfortable.

Saengchaen

Please keep your Patreon and GoFundMe open, I always assumed that you were popular and brilliant enough that you were doing about as well as most of us financially. I'm in between paychecks but I will add to the GoFundMe as soon as I can. You deserve the money to produce the radical art you want. I'm sorry I didn't do more for you sooner.

Geoff

When I left grad school as a failed academic with a job offer paying something like 8x the amount I was making from my stipend, I cried because I felt free for the first in five years. I can only imagine what eleven years would have felt like. I hope that you can take some time for yourself and your family

Good @ Games

Congratulations on reaching your funding goal, Ian. I know it's hard, and humbling, to ask for help -- especially financial help -- but I'm really glad for you that you did. And I'm really glad your fans showed up for you. You work has immense value. Even if you never write or record another word, you've made a big impression on a huge number of people. I hope you can accept this as gratitude for your contribution. With your current emergency hopefully addressed, go chase some joy.

jimsgims

Joined to support the cause! It is worth moving heaven and earth to hear your Disco Elysium manifesto.

Katorea

Add higher tiers please. Really not into this 'being so bashful I keel over and die' look from you. You are aware people purchase Paramount Plus, yes? Paramount has never done anything for anybody. Take our dang money, Mr. Studios.

Unionize_Your_Workplace

Add more tiers, brother. Your work inspires me in my work as a union organizer and advocate for a better, more fair world for all.

Calanee or Dinollie

Even if you don't keep making videos, please leave your patreon up and add some higher tiers, I have a feeling some of us think we owe you a little back pay

PC Escobar

You can speak for me. I feel exactly the same way.

EssayOfThoughts

Seconding this. Because this video made me finally come over here and sub to the patreon. Your work has helped me verbalise things I've seen but never known how to explain. You absolutely deserve backpay

cyntaxera

New patreon here and would love to give a little more to help support the inspiring work you do, so please add more tiers ❤️

DunbarWoodworks

You've been a huge part of my life for a few years now and I should have been a patron for a long time.

Guppies Need Water

Just do you. Don't worry about --doing-- anything for Patreon or YouTube. Just be you. You're why we're here. Leave this Patreon up... let us help you where we can, like you've helped us. If you ever feel up to doing stuff here again, cool. If not? At least this lets us say thank you. So leave it, so long as it doesn't cost you. I don't know how Patreon works. Thank you, Ian. Sorry for being late. Won't happen again. -The Perrys

Jenny Rodriguez

I just signed up for Patreon and donated to your GFM, just doing everything I can here, I really love your ARPB series and Why are you so angry, many others as well, I guess I'm trying to say your work is invaluable, truly.

Spencer Christiano

Just signed up for your Patreon and donated to your GoFundMe. I'm so glad you asked for help. Thank you for all the provocative, fun, and meaningful videos you've given me over the years. Your ARPB series helped me to stop wasting time on some toxic people in my life, and helped me to encourage the deradicalization of some people who were starting their way down the pipeline. Please take care of yourself—a break is a good thing, and we will still be here for you when you come back. ❤️

Michael Sanders

just joined gang. hopefully you get the support you need. seeing what i saw on the gofundme really filled me with hope. while i of course love your material, and would love to see more, I really hope you don't feel pressured to keep going before you're ready, or at all really. for some reason it just seems like you do this for the love of the game, to make stuff you're proud of. and if you ever made another video, i'd hope it could come from that place, for your sake and for us. and if you never come back to it, just know you really made a difference. if you can after this please bro go take a vacation.

Cosmic

Thank you for all of your videos! I'm sorry they're not the exact kind of content that does well on Youtube anymore (long run time, long to make, not clickbaity). I love your style and easy to follow explainations. The playbook series has greatly helped me navigate the internet and avoid the pitfalls of engaging with trolls who use discussion as trojan horse and also to understand the generally strange and confusing ways they can act in order to disarm and circumvent my regular defenses.

Tom Ryan

Just joined the Patreon and added to the GoFundMe. I admire your work and find it valuable and if we can help ease the burden, you're worth it!

Brian Moon

I am happy our community was able to provide you aid. Do not feel any pressure to keep going. Just accept this gift because it comes from love. At least now the pressure is off from those awful debts hanging over your head. I have been there, I know how crushing it can feel. You are loved, Mr. Ian Studios. You are loved.

Daniel Martins

You have nothing to feel sorry for. Thank for all you have done. please do keep the patreon running, i’d love to keep supporting you regardless

Mikael Bergström

I'm really happy to see things picking up a bit here. I'm not saying you should reconsider the hiatus thing, it might be good to explore other things and a youtube/gofundme/patreon career is always kind of precarious and hard to predict moth-to-month. Not the best for stability. But you are one of the best lefty youtubers out there, and your influence has been great. Your presense on the platform has been a boon to all of us. The alt-right playbook is a *masterpiece*.

Adrienne Park

When you sign up you can change the monthly amount you pay. $1 is the minimum

SiberianHussy

I'm so happy to see the GoFundMe doing so well, please take time to ensure your finances are stable, but what a joy to know the immediate issue is taken care of!

Alex del Giudice

It’s kind of amazing that you’ve managed to keep going with work with such a debt hanging over your head. Here’s hoping you find a way to reenergize healthfully

chaz boxeiro

Do what you need to do to recover, and please consider putting Adorno's and Hockheimer's Dialectic of Enlightenment on a list of books to be read. It would be nice if someday your little playbook people explained it to us, in your voice.

Robert Prag

In a just world you'd be one of the biggest names out here; you're certainly a brilliant speaker and writer, and have produced some amazing and thought provoking things. Rest and recover however you can, and know that a lot of people really appreciate your work.

torioto

Just joined you patreon to say: Thank you.

Lula Hiigel

I just wanna chime in and echo what others here are saying: I’m so glad to see the GoFundMe take off, and hope you see this as a collective “thank you” for all you’ve done rather than a pressuring to cancel your hiatus. You do what you need, and we’ll be delighted to see you back if/when you choose to return. In the meantime, I’ll be keeping on this Patreon as long as it’s still running. 💜

Ace

I’ve returned to your The Artist is Absent essay so many times! You have no idea how much that description of a tree translated from one persons mind to the other changed my relationship to art when I was a teenager! I really hope this all works out for you

orestes

So, the Patreon interface is not great, but you *can* give as much as you want. The tiers are suggestions/delineate rewards, but you can always type in an amount you'd like to give a month. Obviously, don't give more than you're able and all that, but there isn't a cap just because there isn't another tier.

esnupi

hey Ian, hope you're doing well all things considering. Just wanted to leave a comment saying you're the second person I've ever supported on Patreon seeing as to I don't have a ton of disposable income but seeing your video I just couldn't help but think of how thankful I am for your videos and how much they taught me and motivated me to persue an education on social sciences, which I previously was so afraid to do. I cannot begin to thank you for all the accessible knowledge you shared over all these years and I decided to support you as a thank you for all the work you put into your channel and all it has meant to me and I'm sure for so many others. I hope you're able to raise the funds to deal with the debt and also to live comfortably. I'm grateful I now have a little bit to contribute to this end and even if you aren't able to return to the channel, I hope you keep your head above the water and keep doing what makes you happy, at least in the offtime you have. I wish you all the best and I hope you don't need to pause the patreon completely because even if the main channel isn't active I'll still be excited to hear from you from time to time. Good luck and best wishes from Brazil!

cyntaxera

Thank you! I mainly use Patreon on my phone using the app, so I'll try on my desktop :) cheers!

Moose Sabbe

Thank you for your work and insights Ian. No apologies needed - you've provided great value for the donations provided. Best of luck.

Michael Gallant

As you are processing feelings of gratitude, guilt, etc. due to your newfound ability to pay for electricity and pants, please remember: the fascists are repeatedly raising billions of dollars overnight from foreign governments via shitcoins. Your work is among the first-line tools we all employ as we attempt to combat roving gangs of fake police, kidnapping people off the streets for their opinions, skin color, or lack of documentation. You should never be worried or ashamed about meeting your basic needs. That can affect your work and in turn the outcome of our resistance. We all need food on the table, especially those who teach and lead us through this demented timeline. That said, my wish for you is a part-time job teaching in Canada that allows you to combat fascism from a safe location.

Theo Retisch

Just joined to say thank you! Your videos really helped me ♥️

Jessy McQuaw

Wish I'd have been paying more attention. Your content has been so helpful. I hope it becomes enjoyable again. Take care of yourself!

Grant Tingley

I appreciate "electricity and pants"

Bramble Fish

I'm here because you said this. I can't believe I haven't been contributing before now. Consider my contributions me catching up for lost time. Your work has been huge for me.

will

I'm quitting my job to devote my time to activism, and your work has been a guiding light in reaching that conclusion. Your research and videos have mobilized the left and shaped our strategy. We are collectively more effective because of you. From the bottom of my heart: thank you. Please rest. Please do what you love. And please reopen the GoFundMe!!! You deserve a few years of cushion. These are dark times, but we will persevere. The journey is long, but collectivism is inevitable.

Please don't forget that you'll owe taxes on the money gained from the gofundme, or you'll go from one back-taxes nightmare into the next

GFM are legally considered "gifts" and not taxable income. I checked. :3

Don't you dare shut down your Patreon

I really appreciate your honesty. As a culture we have this really warped idea that fame must equal fortune, and that the more visible and known and public any person is, the more money they must be making. It’s so important more people understand that the reality of being Internet famous is a ridiculous number of hours put in for very little pay.

Ian Danskin

someone should make a video about internet fame, maybe using a Canadian indie game designer as a case study

KSCHatch

they *should* :D

Seconded!!

Hi Ian, I’ve been a fan of yours for years. I can’t believe I wasn’t supporting you on Patreon before now - consider my joining now a making-up-for-lost-time contribution. I wish I could contribute through the gofundme as well; you truly deserve this outpouring of support. But also - please don’t feel obligated to continue producing content if it’s a psychological drain to you! Your existing public work is already such a great monument to your artistic and thoughtful efforts over the years. I noticed that several people in the YouTube comments on this video mention using your Alt Right Playbook materials as a resource for teaching curricula. I consider the Alt Right Playbook foundational to a lot of my understanding of the modern white supremacist and fascist movements in the U.S., (though I’ve definitely followed it up with a lot more reading, ofc). Because it’s so foundational to me though, I edited the scripts and did a print-bound version to make it into a book for my shelf. Would you be interested in me sending the electronic files for that to you? I could make it into an ebook version as well, and you could sell those online or get them produced as you prefer. Figured I’d offer, since I already did a lot of the hard part. 💕 Sending you all the best, regardless.

For the record I would love for a book version of the alt-right playbook

Just saw this on YT and joined. I hope you’re in a somewhat better place. Your video essays have helped me to de-radicalize/interrupt the attempted radicalization of real people in my life. There is a need and a place for your work. I’m so sorry you’ve been facing this.
